jerboa [jurbô'u]

jerboa , name for the small, jumping rodents of the family Dipodidae, found in arid parts of Asia, N Africa, and SE Europe. (and 2 now in Northern Italy, Austria, and Switzerland.) Jerboas have extremely long hind feet and short forelegs; they always walk upright or hop like kangaroos. A jerboa can hop faster than a person can run, and a single leap may carry it more than 6 ft. Jerboas have long silky fur, buff colored above and pale below; members of most species have a black face mask and tail tuft. They have large eyes and long ears. The combined head and body length is between 2 and 8 in. depending on the species; the tail is usually somewhat longer than the body. When the animal sits, the tail is used as a prop. Solitary, nocturnal animals, with a low tolerance for heat, jerboas spend the day in individual burrows with plugged entrances. In the northern parts of their range they hibernate; some jerboas of the true deserts aestivate. They feed on plant matter, especially seeds, and insects. They do not drink, but survive on water obtained from food or produced by their own metabolism. The similar appearing kangaroo rat and jumping mouse of North America are not of the same family as the jerboa. There are about 25 jerboa species, 22 of them in Asia. They are classified in 10 genera of the phylum Chordata, subphylum Vertebrata, class Mammalia, order Rodentia, family Dipodidae.

In Another part of town- I get an email from a friend back in Aviano. It said "dude, your car got two flat tires and got towed away from the bx parking lot" I really wasn't too worried because i wanna get a new one but its still my precious so i emailed a supervisor from my shop back in Italy and asked him if he could look into it for me... He never replied and yesterday i find out that my buddy there thought that i knew he was JOKING about the car...

My day off was Sunday and I got some much needed relaxation time. We have a cardio room here on base and one of the services they offer are full body massages. I have had full body massages before back home by licensed massage therapists but I can tell you know a little Pilipino lady who doesn’t speak English kinda scares me. But I want to be relaxed to the full extent so I go get a ½ hour massage for 17 dollars. I go in the room take of my shirt and am wearing my board shorts and I lay face down on the bed. She gives me a leg massage then back then arm and then BUTT---No joking. She drops my shorts and massages the top of my butt. I don’t know if I was more scared that she is rubbing my butt or if she wasn’t going to stop there. Thank God she stopped at the booty because I was kinda getting scared I was going to have to go postal! So I leave and go home fine and relaxed and a little red from the incident. The next day was the 4th of July and we had a 5k run at 0500. I run the race well and about the last ¼ mile my lower back starts to hurt. And all I can think of is when butt lady was cracking my back she just starting yankin on my spine. She jacked me hard, Yo! My back is now feeling a little bit better and ready for my boxing class tonight. Sorry if I offended anybody about my life experience I just think all should know what they are getting themselves into when you go to Al Udied’s massage massacre parlor… PEACE

Sorry about not posting lately just been busy. I went to doah, qatar on sunday and it was so awesome. I went to alot of arabian gold shops called souqs, went ice skating, went to their huge mall, went to palm tree island, and went swimming in the persian gulf and pooped in it. It was a great experience to mingle my way in a full muslim country. Almost everyone wore robes and all the ladys had their faces covered except for their eyes. We ate at Applebees and i got the honey bbq chicken sandwich with a strawberry lemonade and spinach dip, yes totally americanized... Good Day
