Organizing

Ok....How do YOU organize your children's clothes? What do you hang and what do you not hang? What about having multiple boys in one room sharing closet and dresser space? READY GO!
  • bestill
I never hung very many of the boys' clothes. Mostly just kept clothes in the dresser. I hung their suits and dress shirts. We had a double dresser when Brian and Tyler shared a room so each had a side. The dresser had been Dale's when he was growing up!

I hang their "church clothes" and there is plenty of room in their small closet. The boys share a dresser we got at a garage sale that is wonderful - two very large drawers and two small shallow drawers on top. Each boy gets a small drawer for pajamas, socks, underwear and undershirts. Each boy gets a large drawer for every day clothes. Coats are hung by the door.

All of Bernardo's clothes are in his dresser. We don't even have hanging room for his clothes.

I've microwaved it many times, but never seen it done that way before. I think the trick is to a) make SURE you cut all of the way through the husk, and b) grasp the silks when emptying the corn from the husk.

    Very cool, huh? ;-)

We did not have dressers at all when the kids were little so we hung everything ;). We had some little under the bed rubbermaids where they kept their pjs and underclothing. Actually the older kids still do that, though Jonathan II has a shelf in his unfinished area (ha!). Josh usues my nightstand as a dresser...for pj's and some casual clothing. I hang *most* everything. Oh, Jonathan and I have wire basket drawers in the closet for our pj's and underclothing. I hang all my clothes.

Up...NO DOWN!

My energy really likes to plummet! For example...this morning we slept in and I was wide awake. We had friends ask us to come watch their daughter play in a tennis tournament. So I got up took a shower and bathed Riley(we share bath time cause by the time I am done I can let him stay in and play in the tub while I am getting ready). All 3 of us got out the door and to the park. We did nothing but sit/stand watching Madeline play. On our way to lunch I told Kevin I felt like I had done nothing and I felt SOOO tired! By the time we got home from our lunch with friends I went basically straight back to the bed. Riley came in and out for a little bit and then Kevin finally told him to leave momma alone and let her sleep. Eventually both of my grizzly bears were taking a nap with me too. I got up thinking I had lots of energy again and now I am just resting in the chair on here and have a slight headache. I hope my energy picks back up by the time baby boy decides to make his appearance.

I hope your headache goes away and that you get ALLLL of the rest you need. It's no wonder you're tired, you're carrying another *person,* after all. ;-)

No place like home

We are back home in Alabama! Shew...Riley had a rough time here and there while we were gone from home. He also got a runny nose and cough while we were down there. Out of his element and getting sick really throw a 20 month old off. We hadn't been home an hour and he was already acting VERY happy to have his home, toys, and cartoons back! He did pretty good with so many new things all at once. One thing that I learned is that I truly don't understand that if and when a child whines and pulls away from someone trying to introduce themselves that the child doesn't like that please stop. I am NOT saying that I let my child be rude but can you not tell when a child would rather you just say hi from a slight distance instead of touching them? Or how about can you tell they are tired and cranky and don't like it either? Once again, I don't approve of my child being ugly towards someone but when they have already touched or tried once and he makes it clear he doesn't like it...why would you keep making him fuss and squirm in his momma or daddy's arms? Sorry, for ranting but this happened one too many times while in FL. I ended up trying to get onto my child for it and I didn't quite feel that was totally fair when he doesn't talk and doesn't know how otherwise to communicate that he would like you to stop doing that. Anyway.....

I am so happy to be back so I can sleep in my own bed. I am so thankful that my ILs and friends had beds for us to sleep on while we were traveling but there is nothing like being in your own bed.

While we were in Trenton...it was the first time that all of the cousins had been all together in one place since Joslyn was born in August. So we were able to finally get a cousins picture taken. But we will have to take another one at Christmas because baby boy #2 for us will be here by then. Family pictures were great and we will have to update that one at Christmas again too. :) I am glad we were able to get one done this time though.

If you weren't able to be at lectures this week if you can somehow listen to the womens lectures I HIGHLY recommend it! Mrs. Liz Roberts did a great job talking about the women in Christ's life. She really made me think this week. Thanks to my husband for taking Riley during that lecture so I could go everyday without distraction!

Ok well I guess I could probably think of more to talk about but for now my mommy/prego brain isn't thinking so to bed I go very soon. :)

Happy you are home safely. It is never super easy to have little one at a place like lectures. There are so many people and they are supposed to be quiet, etc. People should take clues from little ones, but often don't. It makes it hard on mommy and baby. It always made me want to say "back off!" I have a friend who was brave enough to tell people that the baby was not wanting touched at the moment.

Will we get to see some of your cousins pictures and family pictures?

I miss being able to go to lectures. We have been twice in the last 18 years.

I hope you are able to rest up after your travels.

I keep thinking about how close it is until the next little one arrives. The time is going to go fast.

Trips are always kind-of hard on little ones...their schedules are all thrown off. Glad you're home where Riley can relax in his comfort zone. ;-)

I totally agree about people forcing introductions and expecting little ones to warm up immediately. It really is ironic in light of the whole stranger danger campaign. If it makes you feel better most people love our kids and they get along well with all ages and have lots of friends. They were never forced to warm up immediately. I introduced them and let them warm up on their own.

We had a great week, too! It will get easier as the kids get older! Traveling with toddlers is the hardest age...IMO.

31 weeks and FL

I had an appointment today. Dr. H says baby boy is heads down. YAY! I am so excited. Please pray that he stays that way.

Had an unmedicated birthing class tonight for 3 hours and we really enjoyed that. We felt like we knew a lot of it which just makes me feel like we have done our homework. :)

Now for a late night of packing and getting up in the morning to travel to FL. WOOHOO! We are so excited to see family and go to lectures.

    Hope to see you there!
