Update! :)

I apologize to all of you that I have not responded to yet! It's been very busy around here! For those who aren't aware, Jason is partnering with a commercial developer to start a Civil Engineering company. He will be doing the developer's engineering work (which includes several projects), as well as other developers/builders in this area.

Highlights of the past 2.5 weeks:

* Helping J set up his office...

Overseeing:
- light fixtures installed
- office painted
- electrical outlets installed
- hvac unit installed
- setting up internet, networks, etc.

Purchasing:
- office furniture
- computers
- printers
- phones
- office supplies

* House Hunting:
...we're looking for a smaller home that we can live in temporarily, and then use as a rental to add to our rental property portfolio. We're looking for something we would feel safe living in, is in a central location between work and church, has potential after rehab work is done, and will cash flow as a rental! So, it's a much more challenging "hunt" than a normal house hunt! :)
- searching websites
- driving by the properties to see what the area is like
- inspecting properties
- searching foreclosure listings at the courthouse
- etc, etc. :)

* Job Hunting (for me!):
- 2 interviews tomorrow
- applied with temp agency
- sending out resumes

* Keeping up with groceries, cooking, laundry, and running errands

* Lots of driving!!
- commute to work from our apt we’re renting from some Christians we know is an hour
- the drive to worship is 35 mins
- we’ve gone back to Atlanta the past 2 weekends for previous commitments…4.5 hour drive each way
- Highland Games in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina 2 out the past 3 Saturdays, and one this weekend...

* Trying to get back into a workout routine...which is where I’m about to head!! :)

So, that about sums up the Gaston’s life right now! Hope everyone is doing well!

Oh, I have some pictures to add of our apartment and beautiful scenery that we view on our commute...maybe I’ll get to that tonight... :)

Enjoyed the pics! Your place does look cozy. I do agree, the scenery between Hickory and Boone area is amazingly beautiful! We will be there the week of June 15th. Other than going to Raleigh one of those days, we will be around your area for about 4 days. My Grandmother is not doing well, so I am glad we are coming up.

It was a short one. We were there Monday and then in Raleigh Tuesday before heading home Wednesday! Whew! It was quick. Looking forward to seeing you on our next trip though. We should have more time. Maybe I can come up and see your new home!

We're here! I can't believe it! I also can't believe that I actually got almost every item on my list done in ONE day! You can get a lot done if you're focused and motivated...and uninterrupted!! :)

I planned on updating with more details on our move...but after thinking about it, I kinda got nervous about posting all that info on a public website. :) So, if you actually care to know where and what we're doing here in North Carolina, feel free to send me an email! :)

You've seen the Charlie the Unicorn Youtube video, right? Remember the line, "We're on an adventure, Charlie!" That line has been our theme for this move...only substituting each others' name in place of Charlie. "We're on and adventure, Jas! Jaas! We're on an adventuurrrree..."

Yah...so I don't why I just admitted to that publicly... ;D

Jason and Drew just left to compete in a Highland Game in Tennessee, and I'm seriously considering blowing everything off tonight and going to rent a movie, buy a 64 oz. Coke from Quick Trip, and crawling into bed with my kitties to enjoy a sappy girly movie... :)

We're moving Sunday afternoon to our temporary apartment in NC. The apt is fully furnished, so we're packing everything and storing it in the garage until our renters move in in June.

I'm SO close to being done, but I still have all the "last minute" junk to pack up and finish...

Let's see...what do I actually have left to do before Sunday morning...

To Do List

Jason and I are moving this weekend to North Carolina! Details to come, but I know word is traveling so quickly, and wanted to be sure everyone is aware of what is really happening.

I am so excited to begin this new adventure with my wonderful hubby!! I'm also so sad to leave my first little home, and all of our friends and family at Mountain View that we have grown so close to and love so much!! Such mixed emotions.

But, we're just a phone call, Pleo message, or FB note away! :) And, we'll be living in the beautiful mountains!! Perfect place to vacation! ;) We hope to be visited frequently!! :)

Where will you be living? We lived on the coast in Wilmington right after we were married and it was great. Even if you aren't living there you should definitely take a road trip, it really is a beautiful place.

You're so blessed to be living in an age w/ all the wonderful ways to communicate. Staying in touch will be easy. I have just recently reconnected w/ friends from previous places we lived on FB. Now it is so easy to stay in touch. I am excited for you and your new adventure. We will definitely miss you two, and I hate it for us, but I understand how it will be a positive step for you. I hope we will have an opportunity to come see you in your new home!

I actually didn't do it in the washer, sorry if it sounded like that. I did it in a 18-gallon plastic rubbermaid storage container and it worked great! I didn't do it in the washer b/c its not ours, it's the ladies that we rent from. So I (mainly Cody) didn't want to ruin her machine! I had to put a pyrex glass dish on the sheets to keep them submerged for 2.5 hrs. But it worked good. We'll definitely have to get more creative about visiting! Maybe we could catch you on a trip to your folks! :)
