Memorial Day Weekend - Already????

Hi Everyone...

I just wanted to say hi. We are plugging along here. I can't believe it is already Memorial Day Weekend. Time sure has flown this year. This weekend marks a busy month coming up for us. This week I will be finishing my material for our VBS the week of June 7-11. So this week is busy. We leave on Monday after VBS to go to Minnesota back to the Mayo Clinic for more treatment for Allison. We'll be there for a week. So that is busy, busy, busy. Our gospel meeting is the week of July 11th-16th with Neil Gilbert. Really looking forward to that.

But I wanted to update today to take a moment to give honor to the military men in my family: Dad, E. B. Sorrell, Jr. - U.S. Marine, Grandfather, Troy A. Douglas - U.S. Navy, Grandfather, E.B. Sorrell, Sr. - U.S. Merchant Marine, Father-in-Law, James O. Pressnell - U.S. Army, Uncle, E. Lee Sorrell - U.S. Marine (1st Gulf War). Additionally of interest is that my Grandfather, Troy A. Douglas was on U.S. Navy ship that was hit by Japanese Comacozzi (sp) plane. The plane missed his target which was the side of the ship and bounced down the bow bursting into flames, which the men on the ship extinguished. My grandfather had a bracelet made out of the metal from that Japanese plane and gave it to my Grandmother and she has given it to my mom.

Thank you for your service for our FREEDOM!

HooRAH! Semper Fi!!!!!

Additionally, my mother in law fell and broke her hip a week ago and had partial hip replacement surgery. She is in rehab now and doing good. Lord willing, she will be coming home this coming week.

I hope everyone has a great, great summer. Enjoy all the VBS's around and all the gospel meetings available to you. Take advantage of them while you can. We must CONSTANTLY fortify ourselves spiritually for we fight the evil one DAILY. Remember the very strong, very action packed words...."walking about as a ROARING LION, seeking whom he may DEVOUR"!!! Don't let him DEVOUR you, your children or anyone you care about. FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!!!

All My Love,

Jennifer

I'm thankful for all your family members' sacrifices to serve our country! Thanks for the words of encouragment. I'm working on my materials as well and we are praying for a good turnout at VBS. Also for a good visit to Mayo with Allee.

My dad was an army career man. I always loved that! He got a purple heart in Vietnam and several other medals--he served for thirty years (enlisted for the first, then an officer). I'm so thankful for those that serve our country in this way!

I hope everything goes well in Minnesota!!

Home from a WONDERFUL vacation :)

Hey Everyone...

We just got back from a wonderful weeks vacation in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It was wonderful. And all thanks to my splendidly fabulous husband....who also endured 3 women (Ash couldn't go) and a LOT of purse shopping :) Only a really good man can do that without complaining and with a smile on his face and love in his heart for all of our indecisiveness.

I hope everyone enjoys worshipping our amazing and almighty God tomorrow. It should be our primary goal for the day and we should WANT to do it because we can and not because we "have to".

Lots of Love,

Jennifer

You do have a good man. And, he has a good woman!
Saw your sweet Ashley last night at the study. She is a wonderful young woman and always makes us feel welcome wherever we find her!

I'm so glad you are back safely and had such a wonderful time with all the family. I'm a purse-girl too (I don't know why because I change them out so infrequently)! Looking forward to worshipping with you again tomorrow, Lord willing!

Spring Break Coming Up

Hey Everyone....

This week has been so nice. The weather has been great, except for the pollen BUT the rain came yesterday and washed it away. It was so refreshing to go out after the rain yesterday. Of course my front porch is still yellow so we'll have to work on that.

Next week is spring break and Barry is taking a few days too so we are VERY excited for some much needed rest and down time. Our plan is no plans!! Sounds FAB-U-LOUS!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and gathers together with the saints to worship our Most High and Almighty God on His day. It is just such an honor to be a child of God.

Love, Love...

Jennifer

I'm Back :)

Hello my wonderful Pleo Friends...

I have been gone from pleo for a while though I have been lurking at times. Things have just been really busy and crazy around here and I haven't had the motivation to update Facebook and Pleo. I will try and do better, however :)

So I started to school in January which I really enjoyed. Things were going along as they should until February when one of Allison's tonsils ruptured open and this caused a big problem since she is on blood thinners. It was determined that the tonsils must come out because they had become too diseased and were kind of trying to fall apart and the risk of another rupture was greater than the risk of surgery. So she had surgery on February 25th. There is a lot of 'hoopla' (for lack of a better word) around surgeries for her due to her blood clotting disorder and the blood thinner she takes. We had to come off of Coumadin and go to the shorter acting shots, which by the way cost $2380. These give her huge bruises on her tummy but we make do. During the recovery period, she developed a large blood clot on the right tonsil area site which grew to approximately the size of a small plum. There was a lot of concern about it coming off and having a bleeding episode. Luckily she was able to bear it through until it fell off on it's own with no significant bleeding. So we though, "We are homefree now".....WRONG...two days later the left tonsil site opened up and began bleeding uncontrollably. It was decided to put her in the hospital for observation as it had pretty much clotted over when we got to the doctors office. So they sent us home to get a few things and then BAM, the spot opened up bleeding again and it would not stop and only got worse. She was spitting out all she could and quickly filling a Solo cup. We on back to the hospital and go to admitting and then it opened up even more. The admissions lady kept saying, "I'm not a nurse. I'm not a nurse." and I was just like, okay, let's just get her up to her room. The doctor was coming in to meet her there and would decide what to do. It got so bad between admitting and 4th floor that I called the doctor back on my cell and she said we are taking her straight to the OR. It was quite the circus. It turned out that there are 4 arteries that feed each tonsil and in Allison's case, two of the arteries had ruptured open, for whatever reason. So there was no way to stop it except by surgery. She had surgery that day and we went home a few days later. She is recovering nicely. Still sore where the second surgery was and in general but just because there was so much done to her throat and the surgical sites were extremely large and deep.

Allison has missed 6 weeks of school as have I. She is going to return in the summer. I'm probably not going to go back now. It was very hard to balance my responsibilities in the home and to giving time to my family and studying because I really study a lot. So I just don't think it is the best fit for me right now. I'm still so much a part of my girls life and I won't sacrifice that for school. So school will wait or just go away...we'll see what the future holds :)

I am definintely enjoying the spring weather and SUNSHINE. It snowed here in Alabama about 4 times to measure and probably 3 more times without sticking to the ground but that is a COLD, COLD winter for us. We're just enjoying every day God has given us.

I hope all of your are doing good as well. It's the time of year we are preparing for VBS and gospel meetings and such and so forth. Fun, fun, fun :) I have to miss GEMS camp this year because our summer gospel meeting has been scheduled for that week so that makes me sad for missing GEMS. But the meeting will be great :)

Have a wonderful week :)

Love,
Jennifer

It's so good to hear from you :-). I am so sorry about all the medical drama (that must have been so scary!) but am thankful that Allison is doing well. God is good!

BTW, you are an excellent example to me of the woman in Proverbs 31, being willing to put your family's needs ahead of your own pursuits. Thanks for shining your light so brightly! You truly glorify God!

For your sake, I'm glad AL won. I'm sad for Colt, though. He's a great QB but more importantly, a young man who seems to have his head on straight. :)

Ha, ha! I like GWTW too! Our political meeting was for real, though. My hubby signed up to be a precinct chairman, and I'm his assistant. Last night at the county Republican leader meeting they needed someone to take the minutes, so I volunteered. Does that make me a minute-woman? ;)
