Freedom Arrived 29 June at 3:54am!!! :)

Sorry it's been so long since I posted on here. On Sunday, June 28th, David and I were getting ready for bed. I had just gotten out of the shower and I was getting dressed and my water broke. David called the hospital and explained what had happened. The nurse at Labor and Delivery told us to come right in. When we got there I was already 7 cm dialated. Things started progressing rather fast. We walked the hallways and I rocked in a rocking chair through the contractions. Around 3 am I was 10 cm dialated and they told me that I could now push. At 3:54am on June 29, Freedom entered the world weighing 8 lbs, 7 oz and measuring 21.7 inches long. She is such a wonderful blessing from God. Thank you so much for all the prayers. By the way, she was also born on my mom's birthday. :)

She is so, so pretty! These photos are great. I love the ones where she puts her hand in Daddy's shirt! And there's one of her looking up at you with this, "I love you; I know you will take care of me forever" look! And of course I love the ones with Aslan - so sweet! I'm so, so excited for you guys. I did not realize she was born on Oma's birthday - :)

My sistah squared needs to get back on here soon... not that I have much room to talk since I haven't been doing too well on keeping this thing updated myself! :) I love you!

Still no baby... :(

Went to the dr again yesterday and had my membranes stripped again. Dr said that she is sorry she was wrong but says I should be going at any time. We went out to an Italian restaurant last night for Eggplant Parmesan. It was delicious but as of yet, it hasn't helped. I am starting to have more frequent contractions but nothing that is painful or hard to handle. Freedom is still in there moving around like crazy! I'm getting so excited to meet her! Please continue to pray for us. It's so hard to not be anxious. David mentioned to me last night that he thinks God is trying to teach us a lesson in patience and trusting in Him that things happen in his time. :)

Hmmm...David sounds very perceptive! I don't have children of my own, I am around children a good bit and have my spiritual children, and they do all require patience. And I still need work on it!

I'm glad you're not in pain. Sounds like maybe Freedom is ready to come on out and see her mom & dad!! But David's so right about trusting Him. "Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him," Ps. 2:12.

I just thought of something. Have you guys ever read scriptures aloud together to Freedom? Reading the Psalms and Proverbs together during pre-birth could be very soothing and beneficial.

You have no choice but to 'hang in there' :) Do continue to trust in God and things will go as they need to.

That's a good idea Liz! We should do that. I think that she may be waiting for her grandparents and uncle to get here before she makes her grand entrance! :) I have a Non Stress Test tomorrow morning after they get here... :)

Ahh, I hope you do. I really believe in reading to your child while still a womb-baby, and what better than the scriptures? And with BOTH Mom and Dad!!

How wonderful your folks and Uncle Stefan can be there at this time. Praying for a safe trip for them and Freedom's safe arrival into your arms!

Oh yeah, one of my prayers is that all you expecting parents and parents-already raise your children for the Lord!

Dr says everything is a GO!!!

I went to the dr again yesterday and she said that everything is just right for her to come. I am 3 cm dialated and my cervix is thinned. She said that her head is properly positioned and I have a "bulging bag of water". Dr said that I could have gone last night or today sometime. Well apparently it didn't happen last night but I'm just waiting for either that water to break or for me to get these painful contractions that everyone is talking about. ;) Please keep David, Freedom, and me in your prayers as we go through a whole new experience! :)

Definitely... Sounds like everything's going the way the Lord planned it - isn't it amazing?

Hi, I'm a friend of your sister's, and I saw on one of your older posts that you had met Kevin Maxey. He used to be an old preacher of mine, and I'd like to know how to contact him, if you have any idea? Thanks! Good luck with your baby!

"Today is the day the Lord has made. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad in it!"

We had a wonderful, encouraging, uplifting Gospel Meeting with Kevin Maxey last week. It was great to see him again since we haven't seen him since 2006. The meeting was from Sunday (7 June) to Thursday (11 June) and he stayed with us. Having him in our home was such a pleasure. There were also 2 brothers in Christ who came from other countries to be here for a few days. One (Gert) of them from the Netherlands and the other (Peter) from Belgium. It was great to have them here as well.

Also, as far as this pregnancy is concerned... I am officially 39 weeks 1 day. On Thursday I have an appointment to see how it's progressing and to possibly strip the membranes again. Last Monday (the 8th) I had this done and the dr said that I was 2 cm dialated at that time. Thank you for your prayers!!! :)

Glad you had a great meeting!

37 Weeks!!!

Now I'm 37 Weeks and Freedom is considered Full Term!!! Thanks be to God that she is doing so well and is growing just as she should be. David and I pray for her health everyday and I know that God answers prayers. :)

The baby shower on Friday was a great success. We had about 13 people show up. We got so much stuff that it took me an hour and a half to take off all the tags and it was 3 loads of laundry!!! We had a lot of fun though too. I have 12 T-shirts that people decorated with fabric paint. They turned out really cute! I'm really looking forward to our little princess coming but I'm still frightened knowing how big of a responsibility it is to train up a child in the ways God would have us do.

Thank you again for all the prayers! David thinks she's going to come early but I'm hoping she holds out until my parents and brother get here on the 26th. We shall see! :)
  • rdockens
Wonderful news! And get used to doing loads of laundry :-)

I'm so glad your folks and Stefan are able to go over for a visit. Wish I could too! Something tells me you and David are going to do a wonderful job of raising your precious one for the Lord. You're praying parents, and that's a big plus right there.

And from the friends I've met on Pleo whom you and I both know, I believe you'll have a large support group who will have a lot of godly advice to offer.

Thanks for all the nice comments! I hope that my parents and brother can be here as well! If not, I hope she comes early so at least they aren't just waiting around for her arrival.
