And now we're off to Hereford, TX...

Jimmy was invited to speak tonight in a week-end lectureship at Hereford, which is in the panhandle of Texas. Looking forward to that!

(On a side note: It has always puzzled me why the panhandle of Texas is called "the panhandle." I mean, I've never seen a pan shaped like the state of Texas, so why would it need a handle? Oklahoma, definitely. Oklahoma is a pan. I just needed to say that.)

Thursday update on my father:

I talked to Mother this evening while Daddy was receiving his second unit of blood of the day. The doctor does not think he is losing blood...just adjusting to the transfusions. Darlene Noll took her to the eye doctor today. And yesterday evening Jake and Missy Locklear took her out to eat before evening Bible study together. So much tender care from so many! I also talked to Daddy today, telling him about the lectureship Jimmy is to preach in Friday night at Hereford. It doesn't take much to get Daddy started on the blessings and encouragement to be found in hearing the Word preached. For several years he has had trouble remembering names, but the Scriptures stayed with him longer. If my memory fails some day, I hope it will be in that order, as well.

Sorry to hear of your dad's illness and Luke's accident. Will be looking for updates on both -- glad you have so many helpers.

My daddy could pray a good thoughtful prayer to the last. Other memories were gone, but his closeness to God shone through.
