First project All nighter

just done my first all nighter on my project.

Have two weeks left, and i pretty sure it is going to be a Fail :(. everthing i do seems to go wrong.

firstly i have spent probably about a week of time trying to sort out why one piece keeps screwing up, and still no sucess.

other parts, i am way behind, and also very worried about my understanding of the stuff i have left to do ;(.

Also the database i am using has very poor documentation and they appear to change rules from one entry to another, making it very hard to create a program to sucessfully read in from it.

i'll be glad when this is all over, even if i don't get a degree. as i have been unable to sleep properly for a couple of weeks and am really stressed about this. If i was doing this for myself i would have quit ages ago, as i have hated most of this year:(

anyway - i think it is time for breakfast and then some more programming. i have a demonstration to my supervisior at 9:30 ;@

Ubuntu upgrade crash

as i expect linux has outdone itself again freezing serveral hours througth the upgrade.

was all i could do to stop myself smashing my laptop in anger !!!.

tryinbg a reboot now

- i am pretty pissed off !

thankfully ubuntu resumed after a reboot, althougth some icons are a little strange (bigger and only seeing top left quarter of icons for my drive mounting tool)

Upgrading Ubuntu

moving from hoary to breezy today. i'll be amazed if i don't come across any problems.

hopefully will not loose to many of my settings ethier (keeping my fingers crossed).

found cool tool - Network Clipboard

My PC setup is currently made up of two systems one desktop (2GHZ) and one 500MHZ laptop and docking station.

often i use both systems simletainously via a KVM.

until now i have copied text to files in shared diectories if i wanted to copy code or anything between PC's.

http://netclipboard.sourceforge.net/

the above program keeps two PC's (possibly more haven't checked) clipboards syncronised. simply copy to clipboard and it gets done on both of my PCs.

works on linux aswell, althougth i haven't checked this yet.

well worth a look if you use a setup like mine

End in sight, Uni nearly over

Ok so i have six weeks left for my project, and am further behind than i would have liked.

Also doing C this term, which is proving stressfull, all i seem to be able to do is create segmentation faults, and emacs is really pissing me off.

Upgraded pc so am now running a 2Ghz athlon instead of 850mhz, which is helping with my project (but i can now run doom3, which is not helping with work - althougth it does scare the crap out of me).

currently doing an HCI blog as part of a team at (for my final year HCI module)

- anyway best be back to work ;)
