The REAL story of Christmas

I would like to share something with you about Jesus' birth. He was in fact, NOT born on December 25th. It is more likely that he was born in the fall around the Feast of Tabernacles, which is why the inn was full. It was too cold in December for the shepherds to be out with their sheep!

However, there was another man, Nimrod of Babylon, who was born on the 25th, only it was 2 thousand years before Christ was even born. After he died, his mother/wife (yes, he married his mother) told everyone she saw a stump grow into a full grown evergreen tree overnight. Also, the 25th was the first day the sun noticeably stayed up longer. So every year on the 25th, the Babylonians would celebrate new life and the birth of a new sun by decorating evergreen trees with gold. Then, on his birthday, Nimrod (aka Father Christmas, or rather Father of the Winter Solstice), would leave presents under the trees.

    I kind of like the idea of everyone remembering Christ's birth at the same time. It seems like the world forgets him all year long until December rolls around. I guess I would be really upset if no one ever celebrated his birth, because without that he could not have died for us.

who wants to come to my concert?

im playing a show (my first real gig!) this friday. its called "the underground". its a christian hangout spot for teens and young adults held once a month. im gettin to play 3 songs! it doesnt seem like a whole lot, but it is to me. it all starts at 8 and goes till about 11. its very laid back, so i dont know exactly when i'll be playing. let me know if u wanna go!

oh yeah, and i got an interview at blockbuster this thursday! i dont know if it pays as much as where im at right know, cuz its only part time and im full time right now, but at least im not moving boxes around a warehouse all day! not to mention 5 free movies and 5 free game rentals a week!
