How about an update?!?

My last post was about potty training Ryder. It was a success and not nearly as hard as I had anticipated. He still wears a pull-up to pre-school "just because" but hasn't had an accident in I can't remember how long. Yea Ryder!

About 2 weeks before school started, a friend of mine asked me if I would be interested in an adjunct position at San Jac (about 1 mile from my house). I jumped at the chance and got my schedule a few days before class started. I teach on Tuesdays and Thursdays (when the kids are in pre-school) from 10:30 - 12:30. It is a remedial math class (equivalent to pre-algebra). I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching w/o parental involvement. Plus there is no admin. encouraging you to pass students that should NOT pass. It is a great opportunity that fits nicely with being a mom.

We have bought a new house. This has actually been going on since June. It has been a roller coaster ride to which I am glad that I did not start writing about it in June. We close on the 28th and move in the 30th. We are excited. Brendan has many art projects in mind. The new house is less than a mile from us now (the neighborhood across the street). The next few weeks should be pretty intense.

Because of closing/move-in dates, my mom is going to get the kids for a week or so. They were pretty sad about not being able to trick-or-treat around here, so we are going this saturday. My mom will take them in Centerville, too. Sydney was excited to hear this. "Two halloweens?? That means thousands of candy!" Sydney will be snow white and Ryder is Superman.

Can't think of anything else, that should catch you up.

yay for an update!! Can't wait to see the new house. I was wondering about Halloween for the kids. They will have so much fun!! Good luck with everything. Try to get plenty of rest! Leah has done really well this week. She's even taken 2 hour naps the past 2 days!! We were watching Transformers earlier while she was eating...I guess she got distracted, so I set her up in my lap and we had to pause the movie, because she was 'talking' so loud!! It was too cute :-) Love ya!

Let the potty training begin

Wish me luck.

I am not feeling motivated about this, but somehow we ran out of diapers, yikes! Thankfully I do have some pull-ups, so things won't get too messy :) He has done great so far, but it is only 10:30 (trying to think positively).

Thank you for the well wish. I'm still sporting the bandage on my throat (with dissolving stitches) but think I'll work it off tomorrow. It makes people think I'm wearing the tag out on my shirts...

Update on [Rosemary|kimsisco]

Thanks so much for the prayers. They are now headed home, released about 10 this morning. Rosemary's lungs sound perfect. Once they took off all the wires, she was crawling on the floor and pulling up on the furniture! Everyone slept well last night which is a HUGE plus!

Give Kim a day or two and she will have a play-by-play of all the events.

An eventful night

Kim is at Texas Children's with her youngest, Rosemary, 9 months old. Yesterday evening she swallowed a small pinecone, about 3/4 an inch long and no wider than a pencil, but just as rough. It actually went down her wind pipe into her lungs. She could inhale, but when she exhaled it would plug up the lung and not let the air out, so it started expanding and pushing her trachea over. There was also an air pocket in the lungs, so before flying to houston, they made a tiny slit in her side and inserted a tube between her ribs to release it. Once at houston (they got to TC's about 6 this morning) she was put under and the pinecone was removed with a scope. Until this moment they had no idea what was lodged in her. She is now running a fever and will probably be kept overnight. Poor Kim has had no sleep since 6:45 yesterday morning. Rosemary has been a trooper and even learned to wave to all her nurses and doctors. Please keep the Sisco family in your prayers. Our family would greatly appreciate it!
