RIP Pleonast

It was fun while it lasted!

So many great great memories here.

Its unfortunate that Facebook has put you out of business.

Thanks for the good times!

Regretfully,

Josh Vaughn

Tell me your thoughts on the matter

I posted this on facebook, but pleo is a very different world than facebook.

What are your thoughts on meeting in a certain style church building, sitting in pews, the "order of worship" or whatever? Do you like it, hate it, or wish you could change something?

Let me hear your thoughts

im pretty much unbiased. i like how at Fry rd. we have the communion after the sermon because I think that after the invitation and invitation song you are just more focused. with the style of church building, i think it's important to have a nice looking place that shows respect considering that it's God's house, but from more of a design perspective, i think it should be light colored. When it's dark i think it tends to make peopel more tired and gloomy feeling... if that makes sense. I like sitting in pews because there is no set number of people that can fit in one row.

I think that the building and pews are just a matter of convenience. Whether the building is round or square, it doesn't matter to me. It is our attitude toward the worship to God that is what we need to focus on. As far as the "order of worship" that too is a matter of keeping order and not have confusion. I think that more focus on the Lord's supper is needed sometimes. Here it just depends on who is doing the leading. Sometimes we get a little talk to help focus, and sometimes we just pray and do it. The little talks really help remind us of why we are there and bring to mind why we are doing it. Too much emphasis is placed on the sermon. We allow 35 minutes for that, but we seem to rush through the Lord's Supper.
As far as changing it, well I let the Elders make those decisions. Sometimes I may not always like what they decide, but unless it is unscriptural, I just accept it.

Intramural Coed Flag Football Champs

Woohoo! We won 19-17 which was REALLLLLLY nerve wracking, but we won!

so we are the champions
It was a great game. The score at halftime was 10-6 us. In the end we were up 19-17 and they had literally, at most, 2 yards to go with 3 plays to score and we forced 3 incomplete passes and then we were able to run the clock out. I had 2 TD catches and 2 INTs. Gotta give credit to the pass rush by my teammates Julie, Jared, and Dean.

My MVP had to be this one sweetheart who played for our team. She pumps me up for the games :)

Flag Football Team
Back row to front row: Me, Dean, Jared, Ellen, Julie, and Jessica (who we picked up off the free agent list)
Flag Football Champs
Football team with FANSOur fan section at the championship game!
Thanks to Nathan Turner for the pictures and to everyone who came out to our championship game!

We ended the season 6-0, outscoring opponents 250-71 (thats an average score of 42-12) with a season high of 76 in the first round of the playoffs. I finished the season with over 14 INTs (on Nathan Torno's last count...it was 14 through the last 5 games, he didn't catch the first one but came to all the rest of them), mostly due to Dean's great rushing this season, and countless TD catches, some dancing with my toes in the endzone :). So much fun.

Great season, and best of all...I may even get to play again for one last time this summer!

I'll never forget how I sat on the bed and cried because I didn't want you to play jr. high football and how your dad kept telling me it was just something that you needed to do. I was so afraid you would get hurt.
I love you and am glad you've had so much fun.

Super Excited

Ellen and I used our tax return this year to upgrade a couple things in our home.

The first MAJOR thing was the computer.
--We've been using my laptop as our computer for a long time now. Hers doesnt like to fire up anymore. I dont know why and we plan on seeing how much it will cost to get it fixed in the future, but for now we've been using my laptop. The only problem is, my laptop doesnt have a screen. Or at least the screen doesnt work. Nor does the battery. So its basically a keyboard hooked to a square black thingy that does nothing and its connected through an external monitor we got for Christmas.
--My computer is also fairly old (4 yrs) and starting to run with a small bit of a snails pace (although we may try to get it fixed too in the future) so we decided to get a new computer!
here it is (but not the monitor...we already have a great one). I'm super excited as i was just sent an email saying it was shipped today. I had it custom made by dell...I dont like paying for things I dont want and I want to have all the things I do want...so its just better this way!

The second slightly less MAJOR thing was the couch.
--We've got this WONDERFUL blue couch that reclines and is incredibly comfortable. I love it to death, but it is extremely heavy and doesnt really fit into our living room decor
--We decided to buy another couch! This one was from Ashley furniture and Ellen is very excited. here it is

The third slightly less MAJOR thing was the television
--We've got this nice 32" TV that works well. Still (just like the couch) its incredibly heavy and its not a 21st century tv.
--We got HD :) I love it...32" Samsung 720p for $400 w/ tax. this one isnt exactly it, but the one I got was on clearance and is now off the best buy website...but its very similar!

So we got to get a bunch of great new things to make our house look good! YAY
The good news is that we were great shoppers. We researched what we were buying to make sure they were all fairly good quality and also only spent half of our tax return! The other half is staying in savings! YIPPEE!

Ellen's ring day is in less than a week! I'm excited for that too!!!
Thanks for reading
Josh

annoying...

so im sitting here in the academy parking lot. i was supposed to be here at 6:00. its now 6:30. there are no managers here so none in the 4 cars can get inside. its also very cold. and i had a lot of work that i planned on doing that part of me doubts ill get paid for. something inside me told me to take my book to work today. i now know the little voice in my head is a genius and a wizard.

Life is good. School is fine...difficult at times but worth it. Had one of the most interesting labs on tuesday. Yall should ask me about it sometime if you like science. I love being married to Ellen. She always makes my day way better.

and im still freezing...and academy owes me $6

Well I never said we could 'feed all the people in the world with organic farming'. I was just saying it's something worth it's while to individuals or individual's families. It certainly isn't for everyone.
