A Safe Place To Scream

I'm throwing a baby shower for one of my SIL's, and since I'm the one throwing it......I was super excited not to plan on any super corny baby shower games. Well, it looks like there is some sort of revolt going on. I'm screaming in my head. Ahhhhhhhhh!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Baby shower games must die.

Okay, that's all. Go about your business.

Savage monkeys escaped their cage last night....

..and were let loose in a school parking lot.

Last night we went to visit the Sunset Church of Christ. It was nice to see everyone, and see how much all of the little ones are growing up. They're all too cute! The kids, not the adults. ;-) Although Lindsay is pretty cute with that big belly.
So after services all my little monkeys decided to run around and embrace all the open space and freedom they had in the school parking lot. It was nice seeing them have so much fun. Not so much fun was seeing my nine year old pick up my four year old to help her slide down the banister above the concrete stairs. But all this activity reminded me that we really need to move out to the country. Growing up at Hagg Lake, I had 28 acres of space to run around, a barn to play in, a pond to catch salamanders or blue gill, bunnies to pet (that later would be on the dinner table), chickens to feed, baby chicks hatching, and if we felt like getting into trouble later, we would walk down to the lake. My kids have the smallest backyard and a very unsafe street. I feel very blessed that we have a home, Omar has a job, and I have a healthy family. But I can't wait to move somewhere the kids can have lots of space to run and have fun. I'm not a fan of the city life. My city boy husband is about 99.9% ready to move out of the city too. :D

I hear you! I would love to live in the country, but not with my kiddo in so many activities...I've grown to hate driving - my dad's prediction come true, although it took 24 yrs to feel this way.

Yup, Mo has it right. I love my view and my space, but we are so busy with activities that it seems we are always in the car! Bleah! There are pros and cons for city and country.

I am with you, Tambi. Though I am grateful for our current location, a house of our own with a back door and a huge backyard for playing and chickens and maybe some goats would be amazing. Plus I am going to have to get pretty creative if we stay here past 2 kids. :)

This is the house I always imagined raising a family in. I mean, a modest house but with a big front and backyard and a neighborhood that I feel good sending my kids out to go play in. But, we waited 8 1/2 years to get here. And, even though this house still has many flaws, I'm always happy to come home and thankful for the space God blessed us with. You'll have yours too, Tambi, I know it!

I know what you mean. I had that entire neighborhood in Forest Grove that was my domain. Quiet streets, tall trees, large lots, school friends, sidewalks for bike riding, and that giant castle of a church building that I kept accidentally getting lost in. I pray with all my heart that when Brian gets a job it will be an area we can afford to purchase a home that will give our future children plenty of space to play and grow. We've already decided we won't have cable TV and video games (we didn't have them growing up, and we don't enjoy them now). Being outside is the playground God designed for kids. :)

If we could just all get and stay well... then J can get his Madrid time and me too. :) I made the baby a hat this weekend and when I washed it up, J said "Eva?" I told him it was for our baby but anything baby reminds him of her. :)

In Harry Potter, he has a magic map that shows secret passage ways, it also shows where people are and what they are doing. The only way to look at the map was to tap it and say "I solemnly swear I am up to no good." Then everything would appear. If you needed to erase the map, you tapped it and said "Mischief managed" and that's what I put on the back. I made the shirt for going to see Harry Potter! :)

I LOVED your "book" on my page. :)
My dad always used to say, "Look it up!" when we'd ask him questions. :) Sometimes if I'm trying to think (figure out a recipe, write out a card, etc) and Kate is asking me constant questions, I'll just go, "Uhhhh....Kate, hang on - just be quiet for a second okay!?" :) And we are trying to teach her about interrupting now, too. :)

Raising "entitled" kids is a big fear of mine! Trying to be careful to not spoil them and like you guys -to help them see how fortunate they are.

Good to see you guys, too - I love all you and your kids!!

I fell off the wagon.......

......and was run over by all the wagons behind me!!!

No, it's not the wagon you're thinking of. It's the chubby girl wagon. Long story, but I'm back up to almost maximum density. So I created a LilySlim Weight Loss ticker for myself, and I'm going to do a weekly weigh in every Friday morning. I started last Friday, and I've lost eight pounds! Sure, mostly water weight. But this fat girl will take any movement from the scale, as long as it's moving down. And if I fall off the wagon this time, I'm bringing a shotgun with me. Sorry, but some horses will be shot. I'll need a few moments to hop back on my wagon. ;-)

30. I don't have any tattoo's.

Now, I have tagged all of you. :) I would love to read 30 random things about you all.

I updated #29 - I was going to change it completely, but I'm sure more than two people have read it. Plus, it's no secret. :)

  • robynbobm
24 and 27 I relate to. Though I think my pain tolerance was just higher than I gave it credit for.

Yeah, I actually met a Mormon guy once who didn't want me to "date" a black guy. Grrr.
Ooh #29 is juicy gossip...I'll have to decide how to put a spin on that and spread some rumors! j/k :)
    I'm the same on 27. I don't yell - I cry.
#14 made me smile b/c of your reference to breaking the baby factory. But I sympathize with you, but love the 5 you have! I want to come visit, not just to get my pan. :) What's your phone number - I don't have a computer during the day. Craig's grandparents are coming next Wednesday, so before then hopefully...or else it'll be 2 weeks before I can do it again. Maybe Friday late morning?

#3, don't rub it in lol. #23, we should have a messy handwriting duel, Omar can be the judge. #26, I think sometimes people way over do makeup, a natural face is pretty.

#31. You have a beautiful servant's heart. (PS. Glad you kept #29. We may not have all been there, but I'll venture to say most everybody has had a time or two when they could (or should?) have.) :D

Robyn- I should show you my video's of me giving birth. Nothing graphic. Lots of screaming bloody murder though. ;)

Lindsay- My stepmother told me she wouldn't come to my wedding if I ever married a black guy. I got the next best thing. A Arab/Jew/Spaniard, born in Mexico! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA she didn't come to my wedding. :D
I also think the crying when angry helps keep my mouth shut, and stops me from saying something I shouldn't. ;)

Ashley- I never understand why people wait so long to get married. My sister was a blond, so you'll work perfectly. :) People told me I was the dark version of Kerstin. I don't see it though.

Ryan- Swimming is the one thing that I can do well. You could drop me of a few miles from shore and the only thing that would scare me about making it to land would be SHARKS. Omar and I need to take you out to Hagg Lake! We can stand on the dock....I'll give you a little nudge. :) And are you challenging me??? It's on! ;)

Cindy- You're so sweet. Just telling people I'll go help them makes me want to throw-up (thank you social phobia) I almost threw-up in Coralyn D. neighbors yard. Ya, it was bad. And a trip to the funny farm does a mind good. Makes for great and funny story's later. And of course brings you closer to others with the same disease.

Monique- Hiccuped? I don't get it. I told you woman, don't confuse me!!! :P

Kathi & Jenny- Tambi is a boys name in Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia. Tambi Is a girls name in the US (because there is me and about 5 other Tambi's here). There is a town called Tambi in the Ivory Coast, West Africa, and a town called Tambi Elkatia (?) in Turkey.
