This is our 2009 Christmas letter. I must say, last year’s letter was way better. The dog “wrote” last year’s letter. Much more interesting.
And... I changed by Tumblr link. The link to my blog is
here!

Dear: A. Friend(s) or B. Family:
We can’t believe another year has passed so quickly. We hope things have gone well for you and we wish you:
A. A Happy Holiday season.
B. The best in the New Year.
C. Would send us ten thousand dollars in small, unmarked bills.
Answer: A and B. Even though we really would appreciate a cash donation, we would rather our friends and family enjoy this festive time of year and have a healthy and happy 2010.
The highlight of Greg and Joan’s year was:
A. Being named as honorary members of the Rolls-Royce Owners Association.
B. Becoming grandparents for the first time.
C. Nothing; there were no major changes from last year.
Answer: B. Chris and Julie blessed us with a granddaughter in April and we were able to travel to Virginia in June to see little Laura. She is exceptionally cute and adorable!
Greg, our fearless leader, has:
A. Traveled extensively overseas, including Singapore, Kyrgyzstan, Dubai and Iceland.
B. Began volunteering with Austin’s Boy Scout troop.
C. Spent more time at work than he would like.
Answer: B and C. Greg’s workload at ArmorWorks didn’t let up in 2009. Despite the long hours, Greg found time to volunteer with Austin’s Boy Scout troop and keep up his work at church. The world wind trips will have to wait until a future date.
While Greg dutifully spends his days at work, Joan was:
A. Busy at the end of each day trying to make it look like she accomplished something.
B. Often seen lounging about in satin pajamas eating BonBons.
C. Studying for a chauffeur license as she spends hours taking Austin to his numerous activities.
Answer: C and sometimes A. Until Austin is old enough to drive, Joan’s life revolves around Austin’s schedule and she sometimes does scramble to have dinner prepared before Greg arrives home.
Austin, our youngest, has once again:
A. Excelled at school and was voted Who’s Who in Home Educated High Schoolers.
B. Was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize because of his potential for hope and change.
C. Enjoyed the summer by attending a high adventure camp at the Boy Scout ranch in Philmont, New Mexico, and then flew to New York for the Young Men’s Christian Leadership Camp.
D. Invented new and interesting ways of disposing of leftovers.
Answer: C and D. Austin is mastering many challenging subjects in his school career but has not yet been nominated for prestigious awards. In his own words, “it was the best summer yet.” Greg and Joan also celebrated Austin’s summer of independence by taking a vacation by ourselves and enjoying a much lower food bill.
Our house has:
A. Continued to provide us with breath taking views of the Superstition Mountains.
B. Been extensively written up in “Better Homes and Gardens” magazine.
C. A good few years left in it yet.
Answer: A and C. We thoroughly enjoy the beautiful views, golden sunsets and star lit nights of Gold Canyon. Until we receive that call from Better Homes and Gardens, we are still fixing up, painting and furnishing our home.
Next year, our family hopes for:
A. World peace, or a reasonable facsimile thereof.
B. Another blessed family event when Jason and Cassie get married.
Answer: B. We hope for world peace but know instead we can count on a happy family event in October when our oldest son ties the knot with a lovely young lady, Cassie. To add for our hopes for next year, we hope for your continued friendship and wish you the best in 2010!
