Well, we thought we were ready. School supplies...check. Clothing choice...check. Backpacks ready...check. Pictures...check. We have the boys' bus schedule and knew what time he was coming. However, no one from the high school called to let us know what time Carie's pickup would be. Wow...how do you prepare for that? She was up, showered, dressed, eaten breakfast by 7, and then we waited...waited...waited...last year the bus came anywhere from 7 to 7:10...this morning, 7:20. Who knows what tomorrow may be. I have a feeling she'll need to be ready by 7 no matter what. Then she can just stand at the end of the drive for however long. One thing making it difficult is road work. Our local crew is supposed to be resurfacing the blacktop of the 4 mile stretch of main road through our township area. Apparently, they closed the road the first week of August (while we were in KY) and ground the road down, they put one layer of something down last week, but I haven't seen or heard much work since then. I don't know what they're waiting on, but the roads are still barricaded. The buses can't go down closed roads. So, how much more time does that take them to run their pick-ups? Add at least 10 minutes b/c of all the back-up/turnaround/go three miles to get to the next house, when normally it's less than 1.
Today is only a half-day for my kids as well. I would like to go to a history class this morning, but I gotta be here for the boys when they get off the bus. Plus, I have a ton of tomatoes to process. More "sghetti" sauce. Yum. I like having a garden, but I'll be happy when it's done.
Just some ramblings this morning. It'll be nice to get all the bugs worked out of school mornings and get into a good routine. I was glad I didn't have to make lunches this morning.
Have a great day all! I'm off to scald tomatoes.

looked at the date of my last post - Feb. 17. Wow.
Was just on facebook for a bit, perused some pictures of various people...have to say it was rather depressing. I was saddened by the lack of modesty some of my friends displayed in their pictures. Since when did cleavage become acceptable for anyone, especially 13-18 year olds who claim to be a christian. I've talked about modesty before but seriously, these girls AND their parents should know better. Special occasions are no exception. God said in his word that women and men are to be modest in their behavior and their apparel. If I'm not careful about what I wear, what do people think of my behavior? I think I used to be more lax in my thoughts on how long the shorts are, maybe how high a top is...but you know shoulders to knee are just a good guideline to keep things covered. If the neck of a top isn't too low, guess what? You don't have to worry about cleavage...if the shorts/skirts are to the knee, you don't have to worry about things hanging out.
Okay, well, since I've talked about this before, I won't keep going. I'm glad that Pleo is here for spiritual topics. Gotta run!

There are no hills where we live, so sledding is often not something my kids get to do when we get snow. However, thanks to the wonderful road crew in our township (and blowing snow that creates awesome drifts in the yard), we have a 6 foot tall "hill" to sled on. One of the ladies at services last night said they use to carve out steps on one side of their drifts to make it easier to get up. The kids don't have school tomorrow (presidents' day), so when they get home this afternoon, their job will be preparing the drifts for sledding. Curtis was able to walk up on the drift and it supported his weight, so we should be good to go. I am looking forward to this, the last good sledding I enjoyed was in CO, that was a long time ago! The wind has quit blowing, so our comfort level should be good. What do you like to do in the snow? BTW, lived in CO for 9 years, NEVER went skiing (thanks Mom :( ), always wanted to. Curtis and I went once in Gatlinburg, from what I know about skiing, NOT THE SAME AS CO! Would like to go again one day, but somewhere real like Vale or Aspen.
***Update*** The sledding was pretty good! We got a good track going and could make a run of about 50+ feet. Not as good as sledding w/ real hills, but enjoyable. Carie had Mary Kate and Kortnie over Sunday night and they went sledding out there Monday morning. Kortnie had never been sledding, I think she had a good time.
When we lived in VA, we went "skiing" on a street where some friends lived. We'd ski down (on real skis) and he'd pull us back up w/ the 4-wheeler. That was fun!! I'd like to go skiing again.

to pray for the little things. Often, those are the things we take for granted. We might think it's insignificant to God, but you know what? He still wants us to talk to Him about it.
Do the kids have to stand at the end of the driveway and wait even in the dead of winter?
