Proverbs 9:7-12

He who corrects a scoffer gets dishonor for himself, And he who reproves a wicked man gets insults for himself. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, Reprove a wise man and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you alone will bear it.

"We go together...

...like a wink ;) and a smile :)!"

I am super thankful for:
-Life
-Marching band and the experiences I've had my rookie year.
-The piano
-Words (NaNoWriMo!)

And on a totally different level of thankfulness...
-The love of God that surpasses all understanding that I can never be separated from and the forgiveness that He bestows upon me because of this amazing, deep, undeserved love.
What a mighty God we serve!

What are you thankful for? :)

"Count your blessings name them one by one. Count your blessings see what God hath done!"

Have you counted your blessings lately?

:)
  • heidiw
Thank you for this, dear Emily! I needed it. Sometimes it can get difficult to see the blessings when Satan is blinding me with "problems". But that is no excuse. I should look for them any way because I know good and well that I have many.

Also, would you mind keeping my mom in your prayers? We have just recently been given cause to be concerned for her health. I know that's vague, but she needs God's help and our fervent interceding on her behalf. I would greatly appreciate it!

A joyful heart makes a cheerful face,
But when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.
Proverbs 15:13

If the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10)
If you rejoice in the Lord always (Philippians 4:4)
If you are a Christian saved by the grace of God,

Show it with a smile!

Go listen to this. Close your eyes and just listen. Soak in every part of the music.

Beautiful. Music really is something that produces awe in people.

Now think about all of the different languages there are. There are roughly 6,500 different ways to speak on this planet.

Go outside for a moment. Just in your yard. As I'm typing this, it's 10:26 p.m. so there are crickets chirping outside. An occasional car will drive by. On certain nights you might hear a siren.

Imagine with me for a moment, if all of this was taken away.
You can't hear music. No rock, rap, classical, country, whatever you listen to. None of that. Not even the genres that you hate. You can no longer listen to music.
You can't hear people speaking. Your mother can't call you down for breakfast in the mornings. You can't talk on the phone with your friend across the state. You can't hold an everyday conversation with the cashier in the grocery store.
You can't hear the simple noises. The crickets chirping. The keys on the keyboard clicking. The phone ringing. The breeze in the trees. A basketball being dribbled. Your own voice.

Nothing.
Literally 24/7, every moment of your life, there is silence. And there is no way to ever hear anything.

But for you, the "everyday" human, you can hear all these things. You turn on a song just for "background music". You complain when people whisper while you're trying to concentrate. You sigh when you hear a siren and know that you have to move to side of the road for it.

Wake up.

You were born with ears that function! Maybe as you've gotten older your hearing has declined. Maybe you're still young and the earphones turned 3 notches too high has hurt damaged your eardrums. Either way, you can hear.
This is such an enormous blessing! The way that our bodies are put together is brilliant. Check out this website: http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/ears.html
How it all works together so perfectly is mind boggling! And I, one out of many people, have been blessed with this power.
So, call me cheesy, but since I consider hearing to be a "power" I'll quote Spiderman and say "With great power, comes great responsibility"
What do you use this blessing for? Do you sit around and gossip? Do you listen to songs that are filled with cussing and suggestive things? Do you hang around people who negatively influence you with their speech?

Wake up.

"Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body." - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
"Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear." - Ephesians 4:29
"What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops." - Matthew 10:27
"He who has ears to hear, let him hear." - Matthew 11:15
"This you know, my beloved brethren but everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger..." - James 1:19

Use what GOD has given you and give it back to GOD. Listen to the wholesome, natural sounds that GOD has put there for us to enjoy and know. Block out the unwholesome, sinful things that Satan has put there for us to stumble on.

And always ALWAYS be thankful for what you have. Not everyone can hear that guitar rift or piano solo. Just keep that in mind next time you turn on the radio.

I love this! It reminds me of August Rush... "I believe in music the way that some people believe in fairytales."
There's music everywhere, and in everything. All you have to do is listen. :)
I like this one... it's from D.N.Angel... 4 minutes in, though, the music is already done. Lol, but it's very pretty, so give it a listen. XD
