Jean-Dominique Bauby, a French editor, suffered a massive stroke at the age of 43 and woke up in a condition called locked-in syndrome. his mind functioned perfectly, yet his entire body was paralyzed aside from his left eye. a transcriber recited the french alphabet in order of frequency over and over again, and he blinked when she said the right letter.
in this manner he wrote an entire book, "Le Scaphandre et Le Papillon" (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly). 200,000 blinks.
He died of pneumonia 10 days after it's publication in 1997.
dylan and i stayed up til about two watching a ninja warrior marathon...only two guys have ever finished the course. it's insane. went to his mom's house in austin and learned how to saddle up a horse, woohoo. i feel like a real texan now- racing is great fun.
people need to stop leaving animal carcasses where other people run...at least it wasn't headless this time.
You are wonderful. I too watched the Ninja Warrior marathon with my boy. We spent like a total of 16 hours watching the marathon. I love the fisherman, i think he's so incredibly impressive. Unbeatable banzuke is pretty awesome too.
