Anywho, back to working on my "book" (meaning- the project that will probably never come to fruition, but I'm gonna have some fun anyway!). I mailed out some short stories to a couple of different literary magazines, so maybe that'll turn into something. Never know until you try, right?
Work has been incredibly busy lately, which isn't a bad thing. I only had to work for five hours today (ended up being 5 1/2), but I hardly got to leave the Mp3 section of my department. I sold a ton of Ipods...Even had a WVU fan come in (to which I yelled "Go WVU!") Since we are in Pitt country, it's rare to see WVU.
They are talking about giving me a full-time position within my department, so I'm pretty excited about that. I thought I was going to have to change departments to get full-time, which would stink because I like media. I have had to learn a ton about gaming and land-line phones though.
You know, three weeks ago I broke down near the University of Minnesota up here. I walked into a store to figure out which direction to start walking, and a lady walked up to me and said, "West Virginia ... get out of here". I happened to be wearing a WVU sweatshirt, and had supposed she really wanted me to leave. Then after an awkward pause, she said "I was born and raised in Charleston. Where are you from?". We agreed that even if people did come from WV, they probably wouldn't admit it this far from home.
Hey, if you are afraid to defend it, don't wear the shirt... :-) And we carry the itrip but I don't remember the roadtrip (that's an FM transmitter?!). I think the iTrip will work with Iphone, but double check anything you buy because they have issues with the phone part being turned off by docking stations and FM transmitters. If the front of the package says it can be used with iPhone, then no prob.
There is a banner on my Yahoo e-mail account that asks, "Did Obama Buy the Election? Make Your Voice Heard!"
Ok, as most of you who have read my blog know and understand, I don't agree with Obama's positions on a lot of various things, but come on. The election is over and Obama had enough of a margin over McCain that there is no question that he won the election. Even though I don't particularly like Obama (for substantial reasons), don't harass the guy over whether or not he really won the election.
Now, if they had asked if I thought that the media had won the election for Obama... :-) Just kidding. I didn't like it back in 2000 or 2004 when Gore and Kerry whined and complained that they had lost the election, so I don't like it when they complain at Obama. At least McCain lost the election like a man...("...the people in Florida are to stupid to be able to vote correctly...they REALLY meant to vote for me...via the internet...which I created...")
Another thing that is currently bugging me is that the media has not eased up on Sarah Palin at all. Honestly, I'm tired of hearing about what they claim she did or did not do correctly in Alaska. Newsflash for the media: HER PARTY ALREADY LOST! You can stop now...seriously...
In a more fun and exciting light, I get most of the week of Thanksgiving off to go hunting with my family! Somehow, even though I work two retail jobs, I managed to get all but Black Friday off. Best Buy requires me to work about 12 hours that day, but I did manage to get a morning shift that day so I can do the traditional Friday evening supper as well. So much for all the working out and getting in shape I have been doing lately...I think I just added three pounds THINKING about the two suppers...
As much as I don't really like working retail, my job at Best Buy is pretty cool. At least I get acknowledged here for busting my tail end trying to get stuff done (meaning, it is nice to know that my boss realizes that I work hard and he is in the midst of offering me a full-time position). I did, however, get a little embarrassed yesterday when he acknowledged me in front of the entire store at the quarterly store meeting. It was kind of funny though...

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world." (1 Peter 5:8-9)
Once more I will reiterate that my blog (although I realize that it is, in fact, on the internet) is not intended for random people. It is intended for those who know me...once again, that means the people on my friends list (and if you automatically think that statement means only the people who agree with me on everything, you would be incorrect).
Just because I say something, even something harsh, does not mean that I hate any other person. I may be concerned about the position they are standing for or defending, but that does not automatically insinuate hatred. Even should what I say be said with a harsh twist to it, that does not insinuate hatred. As was stated by both Aaron and Kaitlin on the last post, Jesus did not say "brood of vipers" with a sweet, gentle voice, nor did He drive the money changers out of the temple with a piece of yarn. Honestly, I'm tired of being told that we, as Christians, shouldn't follow His example because He was perfect and we cannot be. Am I mistaken in the fact that we are to emulate Christ BECAUSE He was/is perfect?
Yes, Jesus loved and loves, but that doesn't mean that He sugarcoated anything! In fact, He drove off over 5,000 because He gave them a straight up answer, and then turned to the twelve and asked if they too would leave Him. Somehow, I doubt that I am powerful enough to drive away 5,000, but if that is what happens when I stand for what I believe to be correct, then so be it. I don't see Jesus watering down the gospel so that He didn't offend anyone, so why should I try to be "better" than Him?
And before someone says "you aren't Christ, so you can't know people's hearts" again, keep in mind the example of Paul and Peter. Paul stood up to Peter face to face because he knew that Peter was to be blamed for what was being taught. Do you think that Paul necessarily went to Peter and said, "Well, I don't want to offend you, but you MIGHT be messing up here, Peter. Now, you believe what you believe and I won't tell you anything different..." I seriously doubt it.
Does that mean I can run around calling people mean and nasty names (although I myself have been dubbed "slanderer" and "liar" in spite of providing written and video evidence)? No, I cannot. But if I can say something hard and strong in hopes of shocking people into realizing what they are doing wrong or what they may be supporting, then I say, "brood of vipers."
