so i just read the 2nd book in the Twilight series in less than 24 hours. Yes, I'm insane. The last time I read a book over 400 pages that quickly was the last book of the Harry Potter series.
I guess I must admit it finally. I usually like children's literature much better than adult literature. I wonder what that means. So far, my favorite author is Katie DiCamillo. I suggest you google and go to the library. :)
I told my friend NOT to give me the 3rd one until after the weekend. It's a very addictive book. If I have it, I will feel the need to read it until I'm finished. I'm hoping to write a little bit of my 25 page paper instead while I'm waiting. So far, that hasn't happened. But I have some faith for Sunday afternoon...
It is the season of being busy. I haven't been a very good student like I had planned at the beginning of the semester. I have senioritis REALLY bad and really don't want to do anything. Which has added to my horrible procrastination. So I have a lot to do in the next few weeks as far as projects, papers, and other homework goes. So I'm currently trying to keep myself busy.
I've also started nannying for a family with 8 kids. The days are easy! I only have the 1 and 2 year old. But today I'm going to do my first duty of all the kids at one time with no parents. I'm also going to be tutoring the 5th grader. I have been trying to prepare for this, but have realized that I don't know his problem... so how can I get ready with games, activities, etc. Oh well, we'll see how it goes today. We'll be making a volcano. I'm kind of looking forward to it, I've never made a volcano before! :)
Last, I must get started on my Christmas gifts. I rarely buy gifts anymore, usually due to lack of funds. So I really need to get on the ball. I'm also trying to plan everything for when I move. That's a bit overwhelming too!
Oh, on a last note. I have planted some avocado seeds. I'm hoping they take root and am looking forward to see what happens. I've been told they are the best vegetable/fruit created due to the nutrients. I hope it works, I'm still working on my green thumb :)
Well I think that's all that going on with me right now. Busy, busy...
If you need some good Mexican avocado seeds I can hook you up.. I eat about 4 to 5 per week.. I could email them or message them to you.. ( Or snail mail )
So, today I had two interviews. They reminded me why I got out of retail. I went in for the first one at Maurices right on time. The manager had forgotten I was coming in. So the poor assistant manager had to ask me (I think about 5 over a 30 minute period) questions in the middle of checking out customers, a special runway show thing, etc, etc. But in reality, it wasn't really an interview and I'll have to come back. I kind of understood the wait due to there only being one person there.
THEN, I went for my Target interview... arg! They didn't have me on their interview list. But they let me have an interview anyway... after about 30 minutes someone FINALLY came and took me back for my ridiculous silly question interview. On a side note, I had completely forgotten about the silly questionnaire that the managers have to ask you in a huge corporate company like Target, so I'm sure I sounded like a highschooler. On the way back for the interview I was asked if I had to wait that long. I laughed and said yes, he then proceeded to tell me that 30 minutes really wasn't that long and I was lucky. When they were first hiring it was 3-5 hours. Who in their right mind would wait that long for a job unless they were desperate. He clearly didn't realize that I wasn't that desperate and it means something to me to be on time and organized. Blah! I always find it ironic that these companies that are big on customer service, don't really have that attitude when they hire people. Hello, I'm a customer too. I'm interviewing you just as much as you are interviewing me. The question is, do I want to work for YOU? THEN, I had to wait another 10 minutes to be scheduled for my 2nd interview.
Can you tell I'm a little annoyed? Oh well, back to my art project... I'm almost done :)
Shannon, I haven't been on your blog in forever! Good luck with the job hunt! Your hair is beautiful, by the way! I've never seen you with long hair before. Glad you're doing well. Come visit us in Atlanta sometime! :)
ah James- my favorite butterball of the bunch, lol. Sounds like punctuality is not at the top of these corporations list, that's a a bummer. Hope the job searching goes better, btw have you tried a temp agency? there's always exciting stuff that turns up there
when are you leaving? I'm looking for someone to take over our lease. Our rent is 645 a month, great area, not a lot of college students in the section we are in. If you had a roommate that'd help. It's a 2 bedroom, 960 sq. ft. The lease is up at the end of May. Let me know if you are interested. It would save me like 1200 bucks if I find someone, if you'd be interested I might could help you pay half the first month's rent.
This years subbing hasn't been very productive. So I'm currently looking for some work. Luckily the economy around here is pretty good, so today I went an applied at several retail places for second income.
BUT, if anyone around here knows of any more paying gigs. I'll currently do pretty much anything for money. I need to build up my savings for next semester :( FYI when I say anything, I mean it! I've worked in factories, retail, photo labs, coffee shops, offices, etc.
Help! :)
Tonight: Doing something with the 80 lbs of pears that are still on my table...
So, I promised pictures. I'm sure there are more elsewhere (including facebook), but here's what I promised :)
I would love to buy one of these :)
Me and Sammy going for a ride :)
All ready to work in my pink gear that all the ladies were envious of :p
working with some fun and expensive equipment. I'd love one of these too (if I had a big enough yard).
Working on this machine scared me... I think I need to work my way up to this one next time.
Me and my mommy (who's now on facebook FYI).
We tried to get some pictures of us holding the sun since we woke up for the sunrise, but they didn't turn out and our camera died. But I did get this fun "mist" picture. I love mist. :)
OK, so that's a short and sweet version of the farm. I love working on the farm. I know some might find that strange, but I enjoy it. It makes me think that I need a small farm when I become a grown up :)
Hey thanks. I've been having some very unsuccessful conversations on that topic lately...but I think it is becoming healthy conversation. I will keep my eye out for a guy though...seems like I met someone not to long ago and thought of you for some reason. I think my thought was that he might be too young though.
