I had two intense nights of cleaning and rearranging my classroom. Since I don't know exactly how many kids I am going to have, I don't know if need more chairs...not like I know where I'd put them anyway. But, I think I have abouts where I want them. This next week is going to be putting things in the cabinets, getting supplies, putting up decorations, and preparing for open house on Thursday. I don't know when it's going to sink in that I have an adult job and what I do is actually going to affect people. Nervous? Maybe, but I can handle.
Do you ever feel like you want to just escape things that you need to do and situations you wish you didn't have to go through? When you see that second star on the right and WISH you could shoot straight on 'til morning? Yeah, I do. God puts me in situations I never ask for...specifically anyway...and has that much confidence in me that I can do it. Goodness. Sometimes I think "does He know me at all?," but then I remember He knows me more than I do, but, I still know me real well.
I've changed in the past couple of weeks. For the better, I assure you. I thank Sarah for continuing to tell me "remember who you are." Truth was, what should have been so obvious as the answer of this question did not come to me at first. Now, I can easily tell you: I am a Christian and going to Heaven. That's who I am. That is where I am going. And that's who I want you to be and where I want you to go. I've become more aware of how I need to be that person.
I could write a lot more, but here isn't the place. I hope you all are having encouraging days and blessed nights.
Happiness of things:
Good songs, such as "Realize" and Jason Mraz
Friends who are always there for me
The blessing each day from God
With fervent love,

I just wanted to thank everyone for their encouragement, thoughts, prayers, and hugs. I am doing a lot better now. Everything is okay and how they need to be for the time being. I'm not upset or mad about anything. It is really for the best. I really don't want to go into any details, but just know that Daniel and I are fine and working towards a stronger friendship and I thank God for that.
Other things that have been going on in life:
James and Christy's wedding was this Saturday and it was SO BEAUTIFUL!!! James's reaction to seeing Christy in all her wedding prettiness was unforgettable. We all took pictures before the wedding, so they saw each other before the ceremony which, even though it is unlike tradition, was really cool! Everyone looked so great and it was such a great emotional feeling to see James and Christy getting married. Out of all the wedings I have ever been to, Christian weddings are the only ones where any emotion was really shown at the altar. They were so happy to be getting married to each other, to see God's blessing right before themselves. It was beautiful.
I start work this Friday at Eisenhower and I have a New Teacher Orientation this Thursday. I am pretty excited and hope I can jump right up into setting up my room. It has rather poor lighting, so I am hoping I can do something about that...and it was in sub-freezing temperature that last time I was there. (A little exaggeration, but you get the point.)
I spent all of last week living at RiverChase apartments. It was so much fun! I wish I had the funds to put towards something like that, but I am putting my savings toward other goals. Anyway, life is on the up and up at the moment. I hope yours is as well.
With fervent love,

I GOT A JOB!
Can I hear a WOOT WOOT? {crowd: "woot woot"} =D
So, I had an interview at Brandon High School at 1pm and Eisenhower Middle School at 3pm today. They both went really well. The people at Brandon told me they would call me later in the afternoon with their decision, which they never held up on. Meanwhile, at Eisenhower, after we finished the interview, the principal offered me the job!!! YAYAYAY! So, I took it! It's two preps: Adv 7th grade science and regular 7th grade science. It's about a 20-25 minute commute, which is pretty good. All I need to do is get my teacher packet in order and then begin my teacher training. =D
This week has been getting better everyday and I thank God for answering my prayers and restoring faith in some doubts I was having about some things.
I really don't have much more to talk about other than Daniel's birthday is this FRIDAY!! =D YAY! Much love!
With fervent love,
Melissa |

I just put all of my Teenie-Bopper magazines in the recycling bin. Yeah, I still had every single scrap of anything that Hanson, BSB, JTT, and The DiCaprio ever graced on. I think it's time to let go. It was taking up a whole Rubbermaid bin that I can use for more meaningful storage. So, yeah, cleaning my room again and getting rid of so much more than I did the first time I did a overhaul of my room. Whoo!
HGTV is amazing! Anyone concur? I have learned SO much and can hardly wait to go out and search for my own house and DECORATE IT! Four words: crown molding is cool! My mom got me hooked on watching all the shows. It's great! I keep it on all day as I clean house. It's inspired me to do some minor remodling and decorating. I'd like to totally redo my room one day. It will probably be after I move out, so I can't enjoy it, but I'd like to do it for my mom. I evision.
It's Daniel's birthday on teh 25th, so be sure to give him well wishes. =) (and mine's on Aug. 26th for those keeping count.) ;D
Tests this week, one a paractice and one for realzies. Nervous? Maybe. I am still waiting on my study guides to get shipped. I am looking into three middle schools in addition to some high schools. Please continue to keep my job search in your prayers.
So, I am just trying to stay productive with what I can. I get down when I am just laying around.
With fervent love,

You know, one cool thing about where I live in Tampa, is that I am close enough to the Ford Amphitheater to hear the concerts. Close enough to where I can hear them when I am outside, but it's not loud enough to be heard inside. Wednesday night, Dave Matthews Band was playing. That was spectacular! I've heard them play there before. They frequent Tampa a lot.
The money slump of summer thrives on, not only due to not working becuase of school, but because I am not going to get near as many hours as I was hoping when I returned to FCA. A lot of things changed while I was gone. I may work two weeks from now, but I am off all next week. But, you know, this gives me more time to focus on getting things done in finding a job and doing housework. On the side, I am babysitting Sunday nights after church for a family and I should be tutoring a student at FCA a couple of times a week, so that will bring in some minor income...basically for gas, which is good. My parents have to help me out a lot until I get that first premo paycheck from Hillsborough County. Until then, moths flourish in my wallet. =)
This is my last week at UTampa until we reconviene on August 25th for classes. (I'll have a Monday and Wednesday night class.) It has been so much fun and so worth while. Most of the informations I have learned applies to more than just teaching in a school; it helps in dealing with children throughout life! It's been really amazing.
Daniel and I just finished our study on Proverbs. Such an amazing book. Chapter 30 sums up so many things. Fear the LORD and keep His commandments. Yup. =) Daniel's figuring what we will study next. Something from the New Testament, an epistle. Lord willing, we will be able to start on that soon.
Fun Fact: There's a comedic group that was on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" called "God's Pottery." They got voted off today, so I was a little sad about that. They are so funny. I haven't done much background research on them to know where they come from, but they claim to be Christians. They take the extremely optimistic side of life and turn it into comedy. Their material tonight was really funny and encouraging. I hope they helped some people that were in their audience.
I am feeling a lot better from being sick over the weekend. I lost my voice during this week, and it's about 75% back, I would say. It cracks a lot. Singing Wednesday night was a challenge. My throat is a little dry tonight, so I am going to take a small dosage of NyQuil so I don't get a sore throat again.
I found out today, but some of you may have known already, that Ryan Ashley joined the Army. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
With fervent love,
Melissa |
