Thank ya'll so much for the prayers :) They helped. A lot.
I was still nervous when I walked into the music hall, and then found out that pretty much everyone standing outside the chorus room had already tried out. Meaning, they weren't freaking out, or being crazy, or had any nervous energy or anything that would stress me out. So I sat outside the room waiting for my turn, calmly talking to a friend of mine (who was the easiest person to talk to there, as he isn't crazy or loud or anything that would get on my nerves at the time). Then, they called my name, I walked in, and it was like I went completely numb. No nervousness, no shakiness, no stuttering, nothing. I smiled, looked the judges straight in the eye when I talked to them, and performed my song. I don't think I got a part, but I feel so good about my tryout. I didn't crash and burn like my chorus tryout! He had me go back to a certain part in the song and sing it through again even louder than I had already been singing, and I did it! I performed it better than I had any time practicing. Everybody else was ten times louder than me (I sat outside the room afterwards and listened to the other tryouts), but I was just so happy that I didn't feel like running or bursting into tears afterward, lol! So, it's hard to explain; I don't think I got in, but I feel good about it :)
So much for baby steps, it sounds like you took a HUGE leap conquering your fears! I remember when you took that class, was it speech? that you dreaded so much. I'm sure it helped boost your confidence level, and you can certainly be proud of yourself in any event!
it is so good that you can be proud of yourself even if you don't think you made it. i wouldn't write myself off so hastily, though, if i were you. of course, i didn't hear the auditions, but i have faith in you. good job either way.
Yeah, I would love to stay if that's still ok? I'm so excited to hear banquet week stories and just talk about all the thing we've been missing out of eachother's lives!
I'm about to go try out for the spring musical, "Little Women." It's one of my favorite Broadway musicals. Even if I get the smallest part I'll be happy. I'm a bit nervous, but not much. But just pray for me at 8:15 tonight...that's when I'll need your prayers. Because I'm not usually TOO nervous; I try to numb my thoughts and stuff beforehand, and then when I walk into the room it'll hit me. Yeah...
Contradictory to what Mary's clever entry stated earlier...Squirt is no longer repentant and has turned back to his old ways...ew.
This weekend was amazing :) I went to Hallowscream on Friday, then went home and watched the Gator game on Saturday. On Sunday was lunch with the cousin and Sunday night my roomie and I took some teens to the teen thing. And then TODAY...
Was MOVE IN DAY: Part 2! The guys finally got to move their stuff into the new Boswell dorm today :) They were so excited today during the announcement in Chapel! But then things got even better. They then announced that classes were CANCELLED for everybody so the girls could help the guys out and get a break too! Yeah. Today was a good day.
Now I just gotta get through tomorrow...oy vey, it's gonna be busy! But Fall Break is soon :) That makes me happy.
So, go read Mary's entry about our little friend, Squirt :-P
It's an entertaining read, and a good story.
**Edit**
Since some people can't read it, I'm copying and pasting it here :)
Some of you have heard the many adventures of mine and my suitemate's friend whom we have affectionately dubbed “Squirt.” We had the pleasure of first meeting his shiny oval self on move in day. Of course, we were all in quite a hurry and ignored his little check mark on our room maintenance list. Instead we were paying more attention to unpacking our life's belongings (which were brought to our door in a matter of 30 seconds by our new male friends)...and alas, poor Squirt was left unchecked.
Later that day, he surprised me with a gift. I had always wondered what it might be like to have someone wash my feet, but (no offense to him) squirt was not the most appealing of objects to fulfill such a dream. Thinking it was a one time thing, I went on my way quite grossed out, and making my beloved sister laugh hysterically as I emitted a girlish cry and rapidly dried my foot with a towel. “Ewwwwww!”
The next day, my lovely suite mates announced they had experienced the same hospitality just before exciting the royal room of rest where Squirt abides. Later on, in the same day, he broke my patience earning the nickname “Retarded”, a rather strong adjective I had never used against any one or any thing ever before.
Well today, our hero Mr. Maintenance Guy showed up at the door. After quickly explaining his reason for being a male in a female’s residence hall and standing at my door, I introduced him to Squirt, who had driven her to the final straw. Mr. Maintenance Guy pushed the cream colored lever, and squirt lovingly bubbled over on his shoe, welcoming the full grown man to his abode. Immediately, Mr. Maintenance Guy recognized the problem, and within minutes our dear Squirt was set free from his foot washing days.
