I need one of those online counters to put on pleo.
I had a good weekend. Bryan came up and helped me with much needed house related things. I love that I'm going to marry someone that actually knows how to fix things, that is pretty rare these days. Then we went to Jacquelyn's sushi party which was a huge success. And we saw Wanted. It was good but I would not recommend it because of the language.
I've been dress shopping several times now, and I have awesome friends and family that have taken time out of their schedules to help me crawl into huge dresses. It's seriously a workout. Haven't decided anything yet but hopefully I will soon since I'm running out of time. |

Bryan and I have been engaged for three weeks.
So far we have a date and a place picked out for the wedding.
And according to theknot.com we only have 177 things left to do.
Dress hunt this weekend, wish me luck. I'd love to get it down to 176. |

One year ago today, I met the man I was going to marry. I just didn't know it at the time.
This past Thursday night my sister, my roommate, and my mom who was in town called me downstairs. I was in the middle of packing because I thought I was driving to Mobile the next day to see my boyfriend. How wrong was I! When I get to the bottom of the stairs there is a box with a lock on it and an instruction booklet. I also received a key ring with 4 keys.
First key went to the big box. In it were flight details telling me I was going to Denver the next day. (Don't worry Bryan had talked to my supervisor 3 weeks ago to get me the day off.) I was instructed to pack carry-on only, and a man with my name on a sign would meet me at the Denver airport when I landed. I also had to pack the random items in the box as I may or may not need them to proceed to the next clue. These items included a ski mask, gloves, gum, beef jerky, and life savers among others. For the next few hours my family laughed at me as I walked around my house with a shirt in my hand trying to figure out what on earth I was supposed to pack to go to Denver in May.
On Friday after a layover in Chicago, I landed in Denver. Directly past baggage check was Zach Couchman with my name on a sign. He handed me my second lock box. In it was details on Colorado Spring, where he was taking me. Directly past Colorado Springs is Maintou Springs, where Zach took me to the COG railway station. The train travels to the top of Pike's Peak which is over 14,000 above sea level.
My instructions led me to will call where I was given a ticket for the train as well as my second lock box. While I waited for the train I ate some lunch and talked to a couple that was intrigued by the lock box I was attempting to shove in my backpack. I talked to the couple for a while, and when she went to the bathroom, the guy showed me the ring he had in his pocket and told me his plan to propose at the top of the mountain. I know we haven't gotten to that part of the story yet, but you will find this ironic later. Especially if you did not read the title of this entry.
The train ride was about an hour and a half of anticipation. As we approached the top the air was more scarce and the snow became heavier. The last lock box had told me to take the train to the top and buy a fleece blanket when I got inside. After walking around the gift shop I found there were no fleece blankets. So I went to the counter and asked if they had anything for a Stacy Andrews (a lock box maybe). The girl held up a picture of me and asked if that was me because it didn't look like me. I assured her it was and was handed my last lock box.
Inside was a note from my boyfriend telling me to listen to the MP3 player that was also in the lock box. My boyfriend's voice starting playing telling me to come outside to find my last surprise. As I walked outside our favorite song started playing in my earphones. I walked out into the blizzard outside and there was Bryan, half-frozen from waiting out in the snow. He got down on one knee (snow or no snow) and told me how much he loved me. Then he asked me the question that I had taken two planes, a car ride with a stranger, and a train to get to. And I said yes! My hand was shaking when he put the ring on my finger, partially from being nervous and partially from freezing. The guy smoking a black and mild behind us applauded. Then Bryan asked if we could please go inside since he has been outside for about 40 minutes. Which I immediately agreed to, especially since we couldn't even see the view because of the storm.
We got back on train and tried to warm up as we waiting to leave to go back down the mountain. The ride down was as full of happiness as the ride up was filled with anticipation. And for those that are curious, I did cry. But not much because the tears immediately froze to my face.
So that's our story. I hope you enjoyed it half as much as I did. I still cannot believe Bryan planned all of this just for me. Thank you all for the congratulations and well wishes!

Does that mean I'm grown up? I doubt it, probably just lazy with limited computer time.
My Amy turned 26 a few weeks ago. We celebrated ATL style. It's been a while since we did that. Hit up the Aquarium, Coke Factory, IKEA, and of course Maggiano's. And we got lost. Twice. It's not a trip to Atlanta unless at some point everyone in the car is lost, completely confused, and maybe slightly irritated. Even the iPhone couldn't save us.
Two weeks from now is HomeFries weekend. It is so strange to live so far away from all my Auburn friends. Reading on Pleo reminds me that I am one of the few people that moved away by myself. Of course, most people moved to Birmingham, so that is kind of cheating. I'm sure she knows how I feel. It's easy to get homesick for Auburn, it's such an easy place to love.
My coworkers ask me every week if I'm going to Alabama for the weekend. Apparently, I go there a lot. But I have more reasons than I used to, and I had plenty to begin with. Regarding roadtrips, Gigi has been a good little girl over the last month.
It is "going to snow tomorrow." That's what the people on the TV with the flashy maps tell me. I want spring to be now. Also, I am very excited that time is springing forward this weekend, but why does it have to do it on Saturday night at midnight. Let's do daylight savings change over at noon on Wednesdays!
I was watching Twister on TV last night. That movie was good times. I discovered the guy that plays Dan on Lost was in it. I am going to start watching more movies that are about 10 years old to identify the B list actors. I get really excited about recognizing them, to the point that my sister mocks me. We should have a movie night based on Lost actors' previous roles. Bollywood's Bride and Prejudice has Sayid!
