Earning the reputation as a space cadet... 09-02-08 07:03pm MST
So:

My husband and I decided a week in advance to go climb a 14er. For those of you who are not aware of what that is it is a very tall mountain, 14,000 feet in elevation. We decided to climb this mountain without any prior training. We do not excercise on a regular basis by any stretch of the imagination. So we are quite out of shape. Anyway, we did it. We climbed that sucker. It took us 7 hours round trip and many, many stops along the way, but we did it. We reached 14,086 feet into the atmosphere. We were on top of the world peering down over all these other "little" mountains. They, of course, are not small, but few reach the 14,000 feet we were at. We felt on top of the world! It was great. We decided that would withold taking pictures until we reached the top because we would need to concentrate on making it and that would take all of our energy. So we got out our camera when we reached the top to try and capture the beauty we were seeing and...NOPE, we forgot the memory card!!!!! Space cadet example #1. Also, on another note. For those of you who are not familiar with Colorado or basic math: 14,000 feet means that you are almost 3 miles closer to the sun than in say Nashville, TN. For a fair skinned, red-head that is dangerous. Knowing this, I still forgot the sunscreen. Yes, raccoon eyes took on a whole new meaning!!!! Space cadet example #2!

Space cadet #3-Getting on the north bound train instead of the southbound train when leaving Taste of Colorado in downtown Denver. Yeah, that wasn't smart. Ended up in a not so good part of town for a while.

Space cadet #4-Forgot the memory card when going on our Mt Rushmore trip

Enough said.

co_chadI'm surprised you actually made it to the top instead of getting lost. Congrats on joining the club, only 53 more to go in the state.
beckdobbins:) I love you! Sounds like quite an adventure!
lindseymarieLove this! Yeah, Ryan did the same thing and forgot to put on sunscreen--I think his whole face peeled off. And I think I might have told you that story..... I can't believe you did that without training; Ryan had been training a while and he still got elevation sickness part of the way up. That is quite a feat!
lindseymarie Btw, isn't it nice to write "My husband and I." :) I love you so much and I hate I have not been able to to talk when you have called. Back home now and looking forward to talking with you!
curtisamywow! how fun.
iamjaneSo... how've you been? I need to call you sometime to catch up... maybe sometime this week?

Update time! 08-19-08 08:25pm MST
Well,

Married life is going great! Loving every minute. This last week we took Wed. night to Monday night and took a little road trip. We went to Moab, UT, then up trough Idaho and into Wyoming to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We got to see Old Faithful! It was pretty impressive for about 1 minute then we were done. So we decided to blow off Yellostone and head on up to Glacier National Park in northwest Montana. From there we we up to Banff Alberta Canada. BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Then we came back down through British Columbia.

Highlights:

**Driving 3200 miles in 5 days.
**Going to 4 states and 2 Canadian provences
**Running out of gas on top of a mountain in northwest Utah and hitching a ride
**Meeting Vash, the gas station attendent who had tape holding his glasses together. He took us back up to the top of the mountain.
**Pulling over on the side of the road so we could get out our portable grill and cook our dinner then getting questioned by the police. Note, we were totally legal. I guess he was just a bit bored and wanted to make conversation.
**Sleeping in the car every night but 1. Matt has a hatchback Scion TC. It is a sporty car that turns into an RV apparently. Very comfortable.

All around it was great. Glacier NP was our favortite. The northwest part of Utah and Idaho are beautiful. Montana was my favorite though.

Next we are trying to decide between the Grand Canyon, boat trip on the Amazon River, or Tour of Europe. Any other suggestions for travel???

Later
amyrea23Sounds like you had quite an adventure. That is so awesome. Glad you had fun. I would definitely recommend Europe. You would love it.
iamjaneSounds like fun! :)
saraiOh, and I left my phone in Montana so I will be out of reach that way for a few days.
lindseymarieThat sounds like so much fun! You all are such world explorers! I'm looking for ideas about where Josh and I should go once we finally earn some free flight tickets--this one sounds prett fun! I thought foreign travel was out? Think it might work now? Can't believe you left a car on a mountain in Utah and phone in Montana...that's pretty funny. How are you getting your phone back? Also, sleeping in a car for 4 days and doing all that traveling, how did your health hold up? So glad that you and Matt are doing so well!! Love you!
beckdobbinsHa! So glad you are having some of your traveling adventures with Matt! Sounds like they will be unforgettable like this one. I am so glad you are taking some time to get away together. This sounds like it was so much fun. Post pics! Love you!

Now I really have an update... 05-05-08 10:35pm MST
Got my dress this weekend! YAY! I am glad to have that all picked out. Got it from the 1st place I went to, but the 20th dress I tried on. It is going to require some alterations though.

Also got both of our wedding bands. And we booked the honeymoon flight to Jamaica. So exciting. So we had a very productive weekend.

I am greatly blessed. God is so amazing! Matt is so wonderful. Some of you will hopefully get to meet him soon at the end of this month.
