RAINED OUT!! 08-19-08 04:41pm CST
shucks, had i known we'd be having rain all week, i could've planned a "last week of the summer" trip! now here i am with nuthin' -- anybody know a way to get cheap "last minute" plane tickets???!!! here we are with 5 days of no school, a soggy grass farm, very little cash and nothing to do! come on people...i need ideas - or maybe a good deal on some Southwest vouchers - ha!
adamandjessesdadYou can websurf, rain or shine.
adamandjessesdadYou might be able to boogie board out in the fields!
nornieTavelocity.com last minute packages.
mother_henAbout hosting -- when we first started, I figured it's only a month. If it's bad -- it's only a month. If we love it, then that's great! We've hosted 6 times now and haven't had a bad experience. I always become attached. The Japanese kids are very sweet and now we know the Greek are great too. We usually end up doing more fun things when we host than we normally would have done. But reading about your family -- y'all seem to do fun things all the time!
aurocksHi there! I remember meeting you! Maybe you should come to Auburn :) How do you know my sister? Maybe TX isn't that big afterall :)
aurocksOf course! What was I thinking. They LOVE Dry Creek Camp.
adampualbrad knows...it's called "stand-by"!
turner120995A very, very long "Slip 'N Slide" !!! :)
bahoooh slip and slides sound fun!
yoyomayou can come visit me in lubbock!

THANKS! 08-18-08 02:51pm CST
...for all the well wishes! My sweet husband got me a massage and a pedicure. I've had weird experiences with massages before (light-headedness, etc), but this time, NO problem -- very relaxing. And of course, you can't go wrong with a pedicure! We also went and ate at a cool place called Ibiza's with some good friends...then we split up and the girls went to KENNY CHESNEY. We ended up getting there in time to see Keith Urban too, so all in all it was a great birthday weekend! Oh and then to top it all off, my brother brought me Chick-fil-a for breakfast this morning along with a gallon of their sweet tea! Cool! So thank you all for the messages!
Next stop -- AMERICAN IDOL TOUR.
jenkegleyWhen is that?
bahI love chick-fil-a tea! Brenham needs one!
derbydiGlad your day was special! When I first read this, I thought you said your hubby got the massage and pedicure. I can see that now!
adamandjessesdadGoogling turns up the menu. I think I'll have the Colorado Ruby Red Trout with Salsa Verde.
wberkSo glad my wife doesn't read your blog. Your husband sets the standard so high you know.
hillabillyGlad you had a great weekend of fun and relaxation. Thanks for the info about the churches around the D'Hanis area. It helps a lot when planning ahead. And, as for Citgo gas, I used to buy it until I heard Chavez on a documentary blasting President Bush and America ... while supporting Iran. After that, no more Citgo gas for me. Okay, under extreme distress I might buy a few dollars worth, but it would have to be an emergency situation.
hillabillyOh, the massage sounds real nice ... but I'd have to pass on the pedicure.
maucknotGirl, you sure do know how to play. I guess it all started with the party van at F.C. (only clean stuff!! --for all of you blog readers who might wonder).
rainout^thanks for clarifying! :)
adamandjessesdadIt's fun to go to the really expensive places once in a great while, but you're right: Less expensive places have good food, and plenty of it.
adamandjessesdad"Mased potatoes" makes it sound special.
travelagentwendiThat is so funny you mention those places. The Tea Room in LaPorte is owned by Mom's neighbor's step mom. We went there for a birthday party and it was really neat. The Magnolia Cafe is wonderful! Martin went there like 3 days in a row! Their panini sandwiches are awesome! Have you tried the coca cola cake?
girlietexanWell...he won't be a Bachelor anymore....I got his rose!! Your right it does look like something from the show :)
girlietexanDo you follow it?? I have lost faith in that show! But I continue to watch it...go figure :)
laughing_eyesCOOL!
markrobertssaw your folks last week - great times. really enjoyed being with them.
dwatkinsYeah - Students on Monday.
preacherdavetxHave you ever done the Chick-fil-A tour. Maybe you could do that some day. Chick-fil-A is headquartered out of Atlanta, Georgia. The home office is located in the woods and is absolutely amazing. They have tours there that you can sign up for. Also they have a cafeteria that serves, you guessed it, Chick-fil-A. While there you could also make a quick trip over to the first Chick-fil-A ever - The Dwarf House. It was a 24 steak house run by Truett Cathy (founder of CFA) and his brother. The waitress still dress in the original style uniforms. It's pretty neat... if you like Chick-fil-A.
preacherdavetx^^24 hour
adampualchick-fil-a and the massage are the best parts of this post!
travelagentwendiAre you going to try out for Idol? LOL!
travelagentwendiThe CFA tour sounds neat!
mother_henYou should do it next year. It really is a lot of fun. I think you would love it.

POETS AND PIRATES BABY!!!!!!! 08-15-08 10:29pm CST
kennychesneyinhouston.com
sgarner2005I'm jealous!! I really wanted to go when he was here, but it was an ALL DAY affair at the football stadium and I didn't think that would be all that great being 9 months pregnant! HA! Not to mention, it was going to be very EXPENSIVE!!!
missysnappCan you park for free at the hotels and just walk through and look around? Or do you have to be staying on a Disney property?
laughing_eyesShe has a ton of class as well. I thought the way she delayed the race because Sweden's swimmer was having suit trouble was an incredible move - and then placed 1st. sweet!
texas_kandikanehappy b day1

bahhappy birthday
hillabillyQuestion: Is there a church in the D'Hanis/Uvalde area? I'm planning a little family get-away and thinking of visiting that area. I spent a couple of days at your family's ranch in that area about 1 & 1/2 years ago, and I seem to remember Shorty (i.e., Stephen) saying there was a small church that met not too far away. We traveled back home on Saturday night, so I never found out where it was. Perhaps you can help.

YIKES! 08-15-08 10:55am CST
...that's all, just wanted to use that word! =)
adampuali love that word!
laughing_eyesexcellent
fauxbelleI'm not sure I'm ready to tell "The Story". We have a big family here and I'm even waiting until we're all together to tell it to them because I only want to tell it once. With two grown boys of my own and three grown nephews...I know I'll be teased unmercifully!
fauxbelleAnd "Yikes" would have been a good word for me to use that day!!!
travelagentwendiIs the word snake around that?
mamamiaMy guess is that she just found out how much it costs to travel overseas. :)
adamandjessesdadNarf!
bahThat's what Brad Lidge said every time he came in to close for the 'Stros.
sheliandbrettsmomdefinitely a good word and I concur!
adnerb"Yikes" seems like the perfect word for me right now!
