So we all obviously know the election is drawing near. I really think people need to think about what they are posting about candidates. We should not be engaging in activities or writings that are malicious or slanderous in regards to one candidate or the next. This is sinful folks.
Honestly, I find it interesting how many people are basing their votes(or seem to be) on the issue of abortion. Alot of "bashing" of a certain candidate appears to be going on based on the issue of abortion. People(christians in particular) act like you are not right with the Lord if you vote for a certain candidate and that just isnt right. It appears to me that people are categorizing sin. All sins are equal in Gods eyes. One is not above the other. Abortion is not worse than another sin to God. (But I do think it is a horrible crime and that its sad that it occurs here). God hates all sin. Both of the major political parties stand for things that would not be pleasing to God if the change occured, so you have to vote for who you think is best. We should not be condemning other christians for who they choose to vote for. Anyhow, im done with my political comments for the year.
Things in life have been good overall. Just busy with work, church, housework, etc. I should probably be getting in bed here since I just came home from work not too long ago and Im sleepy. Have a great week!
wow, I bet you are tired! I have been in my own little world in regards to the election, unfortunately I don't even feel that I can make an educated decision, I am going to do my best and still vote though.
I like what you had to say. People often say to vote for the lesser of two evils. However, if sin is sin then I object to sin and therefore it is a conscientious decision for me not to vote. I refuse to vote for sin, I wrote on this issue a while ago but my thoughts on this matter are very similar to what I've just stated. You are correct, it is not up to us to judge others how they vote, that stays with God. Therefore, I also do not want to vote because I do not want to be judged on my vote. Nobody has a right to tell me to vote as it is a conscientious thing for me and do not feel comfortable voting. Thanks for your thoughts.
I believe that true Christian character is demonstrated during election times. We need to ask ourselves if our attitudes are in accordance with God's law. If not, then maybe we should not vote and forego any politics period. If I was in sin, I would do everything to get away from that sin, likewise it is with politics.
Good thoughts. I don't base my votes on 'which candidate is the lesser of two evils' or 'which one is less sinful to God.' I vote for the candidate that is less likely to compromise my religious freedom and my family values. If there is a candidate so pro-abortion that they're wanting to make it and hormonal BC (IMHO same thing) legal for high schoolers without their parents consent, then obviously I'm not voting for them. That's probably the only issue that could majorly sway my decision. I think it's inappropriate for Christians to say that God supports this leader over this leader when both are clearly in the wrong, but I also think as Christians we need to vote for someone who supports our lifestyle and isn't trying to change it before even in office. Just my 2 cents :)
So as you can tell from the title of this blog that Ike hit the Cincinnati area. Yes, I realize we live far away from anything that resembles a tropical area but this area took a hard hitting from hurricane strength winds. My parents recieved only a little damage thankfully. A piece of siding came off of their house. Thankfully I live in an apartment that suffered what appears to be no damage. But many others had damage including the church building where I worship. Some shingles and things of that nature came off of the building. Many trees fell and power lines were blown down. Ben and I were without power for about 30 hours but my brother (he lives in a apartment also) just got his power back either yesterday or sometime today. Schools had to be closed for most of this week because power has been out in most of the city. Ben and I were SO blessed to get our power back when we did. I was especially thankful because I have bronchitis and it is just not fun being sick and without electricity. I think this whole experience has made many(including myself especially!) realize how pathetically much we rely on electric but I am still very thankful for it!
Anyhow last month Ben and I went to Disney with my family. We had a great time! I think hurricanes and tropical storms follow us where we go. Last time(i think it was last time...it was in 2004) my family went to Disney we had to fly into Miami because Hurricane Charlie hit the Orlando area. This time it was Tropical Storm or Hurricane(whatever she was) Fay. It rained nearly the entire time. Only what felt like a few glimpses of sun. Despite it raining steadily all day nearly every day we still had a wonderful family vacation!
The Lord has graciously blessed me with the job that I talked about in my last post. It is at University Hospital (The main level 1 trauma center here in town). So far I have had a great experience and I have seen many interesting things. I pray that I continue to like working there! Many many thanks for the prayers that were lifted up for me! The power of prayer is AWESOME!
Anyhow I need to get to bed here. i hope you all are doing well!
It also affected us pennsylvanians. There are people still without electricity, but mine never went off. We probably did not get as badly hit as you guys.
My interview went really well at the hospital. I really could use many many more prayers on my behalf because I know other folks are being interviewed for the same position so please pray that I get the job. I did recieve a call from the human resources of the hospital today and they told me that I am strongly being considered for the position, however, they still have more interviews to do and I have been told something similar before from other places and things have not worked out. So for now its just a waiting game. The HR lady told me I probably will not find anything out until August 10th or so so its going to be a waiting game for me until then (which leads to another prayer request for patience). Thank you also for the prayers that have already been said on my behalf. I know God knows our every want but we still need to petition Him in prayer and thats what I am doing alot of! Like I stated in my last post, I do already have a job but I feel that this job would be a much better "fit" for me. I know God has a plan for me regarding my job scenario and I just cant hardly wait to see how things turn out. I hope you all are doing great. Have a wonderful weekend!
This past month I did pass my boards and I am sooo thankful to God for that because I really think he helped me get through that test! So I am an official radiographer. That being said I have an interview tomorrow at a hospital here in town. If you dont mind I am begging everyone to pray for me tomorrow. Please pray that I get this job and if I dont get this job that another full time position would come open for me. I really would like to get this position because I feel that I could learn alot at this hospital, another christian works there, and I just really would like to work at this place. I actually have been offered another job at a different hospital here in town but it is only part time and I really need a full time job for the time being. The people also are not the nicest at the place where I have been offered the job. Soo please please pray that something will work out for me.
Other than that I have just been getting some things done around here. Ben and I and my parents went to Gatlinburg over the 4th. We had a wonderful time. Ben and my dad picked wild blackberries while in Gatlinburg. My mother made blackberry preserves with them and last week I made my first ever homemade pies from scratch. I made homemade blackberry pies. Ben said they turned out good...i wouldnt really know because I dont care for blackberries but I trust what he says. We had a really relaxing and low key trip.
Coming up, if the Lord wills, Ben and I have been very blessed to be able to goto Sea World and even more fun, Walt Disney World. We are going there with my brothers, nephew, parents, and my aunt and uncle. I am really looking forward to this trip. We have had it planned for a few years now and the time is drawing near. I am so excited.
Anyhow, as you can see things are going well with Ben and I. God is so awesome in the ways he blesses each of us and I am soo thankful for that. I am also thankful for the many friends I have here on pleonast. I am going to get going here now. Much love to each of you!
I actually was hoping to update more often not less! Hopefully I will start updating more now that it is summer! Anyhow, this week has been a crazy week. Ben and I team taught vacation Bible school at church (Ben taught the older classes and I taught the younger). We taught the parable of the sower the whole week(through yesterday) and the kids rotated classes. We had such a blast and it was really edifying and rewarding for us. Teaching is such an awesome experience. I am also teaching the toddler class on Sunday mornings and that is really great also!
Ben has been busy doing side jobs for other people. He goes to his regular job during the day and then in the evening he has been going over to some friends from churchs house doing alot of side work there.
I graduated last month. What a great feeling. Now I just have one huge hurdle to jump over...passing my national boards exam. I would greatly appreciate any and all and lots of prayers on my behalf so that I remember what I have studied and pass the exam the first time around. I am taking my boards this Monday. I am so scared that I might not pass the first time around because there is so much information and its very hard material. I really need to pass the first time around though because it is an expensive test to take. I also need to pass my boards so that I can get a job.
Ben and I also get the pleasure of going to Gatlinburg next weekend for the 4th. We are going with my parents and are greatly looking forward to a time of relaxation and fun! That pretty much is whats going on here! I hope you all are doing great! Much love to all!
What job occupation are you applying for again? I did not know if you were a nurse. Right now it's all good until you undecidely have a baby, you never know what life throws at you, remember that.
