It snowed yesterday and the corn crop across the road isn't even harvested yet and our leaves aren't mulched yet. The kids are starting to get excited about the season ahead. Winter sure seems to be coming earlier this year than usual. I guess I do remember Thanksgivings from my childhood when we had snow on the ground.
Matthew and I are setting up bird feeders for a friend in the nursing home this afternoon. She'll enjoy watching them and maybe recording what she sees in her bird book if she is able. The lady has Alzheimer's, we are told, and it is a difficult situation, but she still is able to come to services on Sunday mornings for the time being.
I hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving next week. What are your plans??? We plan to go see M's folks for a day, then to my sister's for a day, and then home by Saturday. It will be short, but sweet and we'll get to see everyone. My folks will be gone to meet my brother's new baby who arrives soon. We are excited!
Nothing like snow to fuel the children's excitement. bill is just a kid at heart- I notice he has a pep in his step with the brisk weather. looks like we will be home for the holidays. We'll miss you!
Way to go Ball State. At least it hasn't been a totally awful year for Arkansas. He's just hoping that some how Alabama will lose before it is all over. He's inherited my dislike for that team. Danny says I'm not for any particular team, just against certain ones. It makes Saturdays interesting! I'm sorry for Nathan's loss. Tim just lost shorts this time, but the bag was fine. I think he is part of the problem by not keeping a constant eye on this stuff. I don't think I'll mention about the shorts to pleo. Do you know that it's hard to replace shorts in November? :)
That is a good Psalm. I don't go to the Psalms like I should. It is full of comforting words. My mind usually goes to songs we sing which is good, but not inspired! :)
Sometimes I go to Psalms but I also like to go to Phil 4:4-7.
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Praise God for His love and mercy on us all! You and your sweet boys are often in our prayers. We miss you!
Hey! Hope you are ok. Danny's gone and the boys too! I'm all alone except for my cat. It's been raining and quite nice, except for missing everyone. :)
You know - a lady a church asked me the same question and I totally blew it off. Until I tried to tell her how that was impossible. And that is the very first time that I came to realize that our anniversary is the 21st. Oh. Not quite so unreasonable. Wow. Needless to say, we will not be running away for the weekend this year. It will be kind of cool to leave Kate with my folks and try to catch a $2 movie. As Ben so delicately put it, "it will be a LONG time before I will get to go see a movie in the theater after Grace arrives." It rather amazes me that we are on our 11 year anniversary already. Has he really put up with my nonsense that long already? :-)
It is a nice cool day and I have M home from work. He took the day off and is hosting our meeting preacher (Sid Lathem). It is pleasant to have the spiritual conversations and to have a whole day together.
The boys don't get home until 3:15 and then my life speeds up tremendously. Matthew has a project due thursday at school. He needs to be driven to places to collect leaves and identify trees. He has collected 26 of 30 different varieties of leaves and has to mount them and label them before Thursday. I hope the glue will dry but the time he turns it in! Yesterday, he went out leaf collecting during the remnants of Ike. Procrastination is a very bad thing....but he comes by it honestly.
I think I am "Entry"-ed out. I've been having trouble thinking of anything that is worthy of anyone reading.
Now is definitely the right time for leaf collecting. We tried to get Robert a collection for a Boy Scout Merit badge, but we never got them all identified. It's harder to do projects like that when they don't have to be turned in for school!
We're off to a good school start and are enjoying the paternal grandparents' visit this week. M missed the bus this morning because he was eating and visiting, so Grandpa drove him to school.
I like the fact that the boys are in the same school. They always comment on when and where they see eachother. I doubt M acknowledges N's presence, but he does seem glad he's there. M really likes his Spanish class and seems to like geometry and biology. I'm not sure either boy likes English too much. I looked at Matthew's reading list and it is all books we approve of so it looks like we won't have to switch out to alternative assignments this year. I haven't seen N's reading list yet.
Love you guys! Must go...we're going shopping today...but aren't sure for what
The way I put on photos is to go to another website called photobucket.com. I think there are others. Anyway, it will show you how to download pictures from your ocmputer on to their website in a private photo album. Only your friends can see it. Under the picture, they give you a "direct link" code. You cut and paste it on to here. It sounds complicated but if you do it a couple of times, it is fairly easy.
Ah yes...Red Rover. RedLight/Green light is a game where one person is at the front...he calls green light with his back turned, and the kids advance. He then yells, "Red Light!" and turns around. If anyone is caught moving they have to go to the back again. The person who touches the person in the front wins the right to be the caller. We used to live where there were flat front yards and we would go down three of them!
Hi...Matthew is at RYC leadership camp this week. They study the Bible six hours a day! They have just a couple hours of free time in the afternoon and then back to song leading classes or public speaking classes. This is the highlight of his year and we are so thankful for the opportunity.
Hope you are all doing well. I'm still not used to this blogging thing! Love you...my three friends!
Love you, too! Glad you got there safely. I sure am missing my guys! I figure it would be easier if you are hanging out with a good friend! Have a great week!
We start on Monday, so we have one week to have fun with Andrew and get ready. Pat is coming over with the boys and Leah so that I can take them to Stone Mountain for the Laser show tonight. I have a car pass so I can go for free. Danny laughed yesterday because Carol came over and we talked and talked. He thought it was amazing that we still had something to talk about after we had stayed up all night! I still haven't told him of my incidents at CEI and Old Heidelburg. Maybe tonight.
I deleted what you wrote so you can remain anonymous. :)
