Not sure, but I've seen many just like it! =) (Dad installed a program in the router that blocks a lot of the nastiness on the internet, and it includes Youtube and other things like that. So all it looks like to me is a white block. :P)
I think I may have seen that before. Someone else had posted it, or something that sounds like that, back before Dad installed the program. 'Twas good.
Like camp. Poor Benjamin. He called me early Wednesday morning and said he didn't feel well. It just didn't occur to me it might be all that serious, so I had him to tough it out. He called me early again on Thursday morning, feeling worse. So I hurried over to pick him up. A quick visit to Urgent Care revealed a strep infection. No wonder he was sick! Sore throat, nausea, fever. Poor little guy. Today was to be the big field trip day, too. He really, really hated to miss that. **SIGH**
The doc says IF he feels like it, he could go back for the finale on Friday night, though, having had both an injection and beginning the oral course of antibiotics 24 hours prior.
Almost exactly 2 months ago, we were all set to go spend the day in Alabama for the Heirs Homeschool Group field day. But no, Benjamin got sick then, too, and it turned out to be strep. This is too many strep infections to suit me. (I had had it about 2 weeks prior, and it was NO fun!) This time, the doctor is requiring a re-check, for which I am thankful. That wasn't done before.
Here's a prayer for Benjamin! I used to get strep all the time when I was a kid. I know most of the time I felt bad, but I do remember one time wondering why my mother was taking me to the doctor and I had to miss a couple of days of school. (That was back when I liked school!) I couldn't believe it when I saw your message on my blog. I figured it had to be you but I really don't remember the candy cane. Do I remember correctly that you gave me a little wooden drummer boy? That was during those days anyway. He goes on my tree every year, too. Good to hear from you!
I didn't know that he had a stroke until after he left the hospital. I knew he had symptoms of stroke, but we thought for awhile that it was due to the pressure on his eyes. He now has anyuerisms in his sinuses. They hope to do surgery on the 23rd to take care of that. His doctors told him the other day that he is not out of the woods yet, so the prayers are much appreciated.
Dennis was working with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) when Pres. Bush decided that the flight service--the area in which Dennis works--should be put out for private corporations to bid on who will manage it. Lockheed-Martin won the bid and closed all but 17 of the flight service facilities, one of which was Anniston. All of these people in closing facilities had to apply for their positions in one of what LM called "Hub facilities." One is in Leesburg, VA, another is in Prescott, AZ, and the third is in Fort Worth. After doing some online research we discovered that we couldn't afford to live in Leesburg or Prescott (wonder who can for that matter) and supposedly the cost of living in Fort Worth is comparable to the cost of living in Anniston. (I have decided I disagree with that one, but it's more affordable than living in the other two places.) So he applied for Fort Worth and we (all) arrived out here on Hallowe'en! Dennis had actually been out here since the middle of August. And that's the short story of how we ended up in Texas!
Somehow, he is a pleo friend of my daughter's though I forget how that happened. (She has more than one pleo friend that she has never seen face-to-face.) So I am blessed with comments from him. I do enjoy reading what some of the younger crowd think of what I have to say! And now you have met my "adopted" son! Who knows your son-in-law! What a small world.
Hi, Sis. Barbara! I hope you and your family are doing well. Jacky and I are seriously considering homeschooling Jackson this year. We are considering using Homelife Academy. I was wondering if you have ever had any association with them. Any pointers on how to get started?
I didn't mean to wait quite so long to post again, but by the time I sit down here at night, nothing ever seems important enough to cause my fingers to work the keys. However, today, I took an unintentionally long nap, so I have a little more energy. (I forgot to change the "am" setting to "pm" on my cell phone alarm. Oops! Good thing I woke up on my own!)
Our house is lonely this week! We're down to one child in the nest, and he's gone to Rustic Youth Camp. As Caleb mentioned, I hope we don't find him duct-taped to a post when we go to pick him up on Friday!
Since last posting, much has happened. We got to see Savannah and Nate in Omaha, NE for a few days. It was a great trip! Great hospitality, great food (yum!) After we got back, I assisted in a VBS at Hanceville, Alabama for a week. Then we had our gospel meeting at Rienzi. We called it a "success" since we had quite a lot of visitors for such a small congregation. Everyone really "put out" in inviting others. I pray that much good will come.
We've also planted a garden, which is in much need of rain. We also dug up and "fortified" Savannah's flower bed, and it is looking pretty good now. (Not nearly as good as when she planted it, of course.)
Today, my coffeemaker died, so I am sad. It was a "hand-me-down" from Mama, when we distributed her household goods. I really don't want to throw it away...so I won't.
Maybe I'll win a million dollars soon, so I will be motivated to post again before too long!
Is finding Caleb duct-taped to a post a real possibility?!?!? I was tied to a post during recess in 6th grade and the principal found me after everyone went inside. :)
So, life is pretty boring around there, uh? I'm trying to get a yard sale together for THIS SATURDAY (Can't you tell how hard I'm working on it?) You can always come over and HELP ME!!!
The move will be abstract. Janet and my son Peter will move up in a couple of weeks. I will keep working down here until the house sells, then I'll move up the rest of the the stuff. Pete will be starting 10th grade in Hartselle this fall and he need to move up early to go to band camp.
Hello, all you Pleonasters. Thought I'd forgotten about you, didn't you? Well, not quite. But while I was working, I just didn't have the time. Not that I really do now, but I'm taking a little time just the same. :)
Since my last post, Caleb has graduated from UNA, and the family has gotten to go see Savannah and Nathan in Alaska. We spent Christmas, their first anniversary, and New Year's Eve with them. Now, not many newlyweds can boast such a cozy batch of "firsts", can they??? It was wonderful to be there with them, and to enjoy the beauty of Alaska.
Now, we're well into 2008. Caleb is at the U of A in Tuscaloosa, learning even more about math. Savannah is a full-time student at the U of A(laska) in Anchorage. I'm not working now, but am trying to spend more time with Ben (who is in 8th grade), participating in the HEIRS home school group, and am making frequent trips south to see my mother. Still very busy, but of a different variety.
We saw bro. Daniel and Ben in Corinth at their Gospel meeting. It was good to see them. Sorry you were sick. We hope that you are feeling much better now!
I have read all of them, except Mansfield Park, which we have checked out from the library, but Zach has been reading it. (He probably would have been done by now, but for some much enjoyed distractions.) ;) I agree that Northanger Abbey is a bit different, but still good. :) Come back again! :D
And our rough calculation came up to it costing about $10 to make the thing. Which, while fairly expensive, is really cheap compared to the Cheesecake Factory. =D
aw i'm glad somebody recognized me! ;) i was going to talk to Kelsey but i figured she wouldn't remember me cause it's been about 2 years since i've seen her. tell her i'm sorry too. Caleb didn't recognize me either? wow...i must've changed a whole lot. i have bangs now and glasses. i've had my glasses for about 2 weeks. on my way in i forgot there was a step there and i was shaking Mr. Steve's hand and if i wasn't holding on to his hand i would've fell flat on my face! haha. it was good seeing you too and hopefully we'll see each other again soon! :)
no. we went back to Sweet Pepper's and got some cheesecake! the chocolate eruption has little pieces of cheesecake inside it and it's really good. but i opted for something new.
Oh, That's ok. We did stop by Sweet Peppers for some dessert, but I was in a hurry to get back. I also wanted to let you know that Daddy is in the hospital with a blood clot in his brain. They are hoping to get it under control. They aren't sure what is causing it and it has gotten bigger since yesterday, so add that to your prayers, please.
Greg's mom came home Thursday and is doing great! I talked to her yesterday. We're at Lake of the Ozarks....Laura and I are enjoying doing NOTHING.....together!!
