I have a morning ritual. Once everyone has left for school and work and my bowl of cereal has been consumed, I sit with my pot of coffee on the living room couch and devour the newspaper. There is a set way to do this. First, I discard the classifieds and ads. Then I arrange the paper in a stack with the business section on top, followed by the sports, local news, national/international news, and finally whatever the section is called that day that includes the comics and my prized jumble. That is how it is done.
The News-Sentinel, I suppose because of financial difficulties, decided to tamper with perfection this week. My paper had two sections. The first included all news and obituaries; the second was everything else--sports, comics, entertainment. How do I divide that up? Sports is supposed to be read before news, but comics after. Do I tear up the two sections? Do I completely change the reading order? Do I give up and go back to bed (since I can't breathe out of my right nostril this morning anyway)?
Ominously, the front page informed me of more changes ahead this week. Hopefully, I am not too old to adapt.
