For Thanksgiving, my grandparents are coming over to my house for lunch. Then, the Cooks are going to come over for our traditional Thanksgiving bonfire. What are your plans?
Friday afternoon/evening was busy in a fun way! Right after classes I went down to Brandon to look for a dress for the "Unbanquet." Luckily, I went into Ross and found the perfect dress in no time! It was a very fancy dress... it was purple with a black see-through material draped over it. It was originally $60, but it had been marked down to $20!
After Ross, I hurried to the FC basketball game to work at the concession stand for scholarship service hours. This is always a fun way to get some service hours in. I also saw some people I
hadn't seen in a long time :).
Then, right after the Bball game, I went to Ole' Sutton Cafeteria to play games with friends. We played Apples to Apples and Mafia. I had never played Mafia before, but I really like it!
Saturday night was the "Unbanquet." Unbanquet is a new tradition started this year in place of the Fall banquet. Unbanquet is more casual dress (church clothes) and it's in the gym. Everyone was so much more laid-back than at the real banquet. I like the unbanquet so much better than the real banquet! We had a photo booth, a concert, and sweets galore!
Sunday for lunch (after church) I went with my mom, Alex, and Jessiqua to Westshore Pizza. Mmmm... Mmmmm!!! It was fun catching up with them.
Sunday night I went back to church, and afterward I went with Aprile, Jessiqua, Nancy, and Mrs. Whidden to the new Wiregrass Mall. We ate dinner at the Barnes and Noble Cafe. Afterward, we wanted to look at the shops, but they were all closed! It was still a really fun walk! The shops look so cute and charming.
Today (Wednesday) is Jessiqua and Aprile's birthdays!! Happy Birthday!!!!
I got my FC Fall Banquet dress at Ross for $25, originally over $80, Ross has some good stuff for some good prices, you just have to look through it sometimes.....The Unbanquet sounds awesome! Was it the same day as the real Banquet?
This weekend was relaxing, exciting, AND productive! I got a lot of homework done. Friday night I went to the mall with my friend Nancy. Saturday night I went on an Arete picnic. Sunday morning I went to church. Sunday afternoon I cleaned my room and did a little bit of homework. Sunday night after church we had a college Bible study. I was busy yet I got an adequate amount of sleep the whole weekend.
I get Tuesday off for Veteran's Day! Yay! Happy Veteran's Day everyone!!
Although I am a Republican, I am also a Christian, which makes me happy that Obama won. I don't support what Obama stands for, but I support the decisions that God makes. God knows the hearts, minds, and future actions of all candidates, and God will carry out His purpose for our nation in His mysterious yet amazing ways (as He always does).
Everyone, remember, although we may not support our new President, we still have more freedoms than people in any other nation. We do not have to hide from the government to worship God. We can shine our Christian lights as bright as we want to and not get in trouble for it. We still have freedom of speech. We are by far the most blessed nation in the world, and I think that is something to rejoice in.
P.S. If America really does get as horrible as some people think it will, I'll just move to Canada or Australia. No big deal.
Ahhh but remember my padiwan learner.... We must NOT follow evil men.. and remember who runs this earthly plain that we are on.. Yes, there is a reason for everything, but even the devil knows all the works and words of the Lord.
We could be in for some big changes in America that are not good at all. Hopefully the worst wont happen. In the meantime we have to pray a lot and keep praying.
I would hope your allegience to your country would be stronger than to pack up and move elsewhere if things got rough. Perhaps you should research Canada and Austrailia before you decide they would be better places to live. I realise you are trying to be optimistic, but now is not the time to shrug your shoulders and be "content". There is a man who will be taking office in the very near future who has plans to turn this country into something God never intended it to be. We must pray that God has mercy on our country with a leader who's intent is to move us further away from HIS will. If you researched Obama's ideas and plans for this country, and the mere fact that he intends to back off our military and has NO experience at all dealing with our foreign enemies and in fact seems to allign himself with our enemy's viewpoints, it SHOULD scare you to death! We need to pray that though we have a Democrat majority in the house and senate, that these Democrats are much more moderate than our new president and will vote down most of his ideas. Again, I understand you are trying to look on the bright side and your basic message is God is in control. And HE is! But your mother is right. God allows bad rulers. The Bible is full of that. And though we KNOW God will see us through, It is not a fun thing to have to live through. That is why everyone is so upset.
Last night my family had a Halloween party for all of Jesse's and my college friends. Several people dressed up. I was "Little Green Riding Hood." We ate hot dogs, hamburgers, pie, cake, and all sorts of other goodies. Next, we had a scavenger hunt around my neighborhood. I was on a team with Aprile,Jessica, and Alex. We had to take pictures of funny things like: a baby in a costume, a team member dipping their feet in a stranger's pool, a LIVE vampire, a ghost in a palm tree, and so forth. Some of those things on the list cracked me up! After the scavenger hunt was over, we had a slideshow on the TV of everyone's pictures; that was really awesome. Some people left, then the rest of us played "Apples to Apples," which is one of my favorite games. We laughed so hard! I wanted to keep playing all night, but I had to get Jesse back to the dorm for curfew. So, then we left around 11:30ish.
Things are really looking up for me right now, they are going pretty well. The wedding is getting closer! I'm so excited! I'm getting a puppy in about 5 weeks. Larry and I are getting a boy Chihuahua. I'm keeping it at Larry's apmt because my parents won't let me have one in their house.
