concert went well! So many people in Bowling Green! Best turnout I've had! Thanks to all who helped spread the word, and who came to see me!
I even got Joel to videotape it for me so i can post some of it on here! I'm excited about that!
Wow, I just read the above paragraph, and it was full of short exclamations, thus becoming choppy and annoying to read. Sorry.
I checked out your myspace link...WOW! love the music. Ya know, I have your sister to thank for the intro to Tori many, many years ago! :) I miss her so much. She's my favorite! :) Hope you and your family are doing great.
I have a show tonight after church, and I'm getting slightly nervous. So far all my shows (a whole two of them) have been in the same coffeeshop. Now I'm moving on to a different venue. Then I have another show Saturday somewhere else. I'm excited about it on top of my nervousness, and I think it will go well. I just wish I had a video camera so I could tape it and put it on youtube!
This is really my thing, my niche in life aside from serving Christ, and I find great joy in being able to perform for people. Maybe it shows my need for attention and self-centeredness, but I know it is my strength among many weaknesses, and it is where I am at my best. To be a professional singer-songwriter and to come to find much success at it is turning out to be difficult (I've only been at it a few months), but, Lord Willing, I can do it. I just need to keep working at it until I find the right people at the right time. And keep my priorities straight. I find that I'm improving every day, and am discovering more and more ways of making my performance better. I hope that I will continue to grow and improve as God allows me to continue.
A Question on the side: How many people think it's crazy to move to Japan?
hey Emily!! I 'm sure that the music biz is going to work out, even if you just do it for fun:) and Moving to Japan would be insanely awesome!! I've even thought about for myself:P
ROFL -- it's pretty crazy to move to Japan...but, if you have a chance to try it, why not? i think for me it would depend a lot on how much christian support i would have over there, but it could also be a good place for you to 'share the wealth.' I'm so happy you are working on your music!! That's EXCITING! I think I would feel that way sometimes too -- that it is "self-centered" or wanting attention. But someone recently said that you need to find what "fills you up" in life and then figure out how you can use that to serve God -- being "filled up" and doing the things that you're naturally good at and naturally enjoy makes it easier to serve God, a lot of the time.
If anybody knows how I can get in contact with the preacher in Japan, that would be really great. I was able to find three churches in Japan, two of which are run by what looks to be like an American father and son because they share the same first and last name. with different middle initials, But, I don't know any information besides that. Just doing a little research, I'll explain later.
I really wish I had a professional recording studio that wasn't in an apartment. I feel so limited in my abilities to accomplish what I want to accomplish. If I had a lot of money, finding good equipment and good help to record something worth listening to would be no problem. It is frustrating to feel like you are ready to go to the next level, but are unable to because of something trivial like money.
Ah well.
I had a job interview at a temp agency the other day, and they are currently looking for an office job for me. then I can hopefully make enough money to afford the equipment I need, and a better place to record that is not an apartment where I am constantly concerned that my music will annoy people and outside noises and what not.
Hey, I normally don't post two posts so close together, but I added a new song and I wanted to post it. When I was sixteenish I wrote a little jazzy song that I never really finished and it was very sloppy. So, I recently decided to make something of it. It's called "Don't Tell Me You Know Me by Heart" And is the last one in the widget below. Hope you like it! This one is especially for my brother Nathan.
