We visited the Davis family the other day and had a wonderful time as always. As we were sitting around Mitch started telling us about a word study that he had been doing on the word character and it has just stuck with me so I had to share. (I hope I do the explanation justice Mitchell). Apparantly the original word character meant the same as engrave. So when we see the character of Christ it is the same as seeing the character of God. When we see an engraving it depicts whatever the engraver had in mind. To get to that point he has to remove what is not needed or wanted to get the desired result. For us to get the character that we are striving for we must remove unwanted "material" from our hearts/minds. For all of you Fayetteville folks you may have heard this (I think it was part of a sermon) but I just thought it was very thought provoking. Nothing that we don't all know just said in a very practical concrete way.
As for family news we are adjusting to the idea of two more additions. We think we have settled on names. I am going to go ahead and put them out there with the notice that they are subject to change at the whim of a irrational pregnant woman......Sarabeth Gail and Suzanna Lee. Yes I know that Suzanna will come from Alabama with a banjo on her knee but I really like the name and Jimmy seems to like it well enough to overcome that fact as well. Jesse and Andy are doing well. Just growing so quickly. Andy is really becoming a little boy and not a baby. Jesse asked me the other night in the middle of Tony's sermon if we were in God's house which I responded yes. He then asked well, where is God's bedroom? Hee hee Why do they like to do things like that in the middle of a sermon? I almost choked trying not to laugh out loud.
I just love the funny things kids come up with! And I love the names you and Jimmy have come up with! It's hard enough just trying to come up with one first and middle name. I can't imagine having to come up with two! We miss you guys!
I wish you could have met the Wards. Very sweet people! We need to have some longer visiting time soon- I'll talk to Mitch & then see what y'all have going on!
those are beautiful adorable names and I am really really missing you guys and i want to come visit sometime soon before fc starts if thats okay with all of you?
Thanks for the thought-provoking comments. Like the names, especially the middle ones. :) However, you might practice calling the "S's" together. It's kind-of a tongue twister. I'm sure you had the same intention of calling me, as I did you (when I was Stateside). I hope to make it through the Plains in mid-October. Though, now that I think of it, maybe the girlies won't be there yet. Hmmmm . . . . might need to adjust the plan a little. Think we could stay with Sa-Sa?
So, I've been going over that song in my head for a while. It isn't Suzanna who came from AL, is it? It's the guy singing the song. Not that it really matters, but I got it stuck in my head. :(
Hey, I can meet you somewhere tomorrow to give you those purple hull peas if you want them. I don't really know what they look like when they start getting yucky, so you might have to cook them right away. Just give me a call or something :)
Oh, we are looking at an Oct 3rd inducement date. He is even a little nervous about stripping the membranes and sending me in to labor too quickly, so he said it would be better to do it the day before inducement late in the afternoon or not at all. I think I might actually skip it this time. That way we can get a good nights sleep before delivery. :)
OK everybody. Here is our big news. The boys are going to have a baby.....sister. There is only one catch. She is not coming alone.....Yep. That's right. We are having twin girls. It was a really good thing that I was laying on a table when the tech broke the news to us. I really did not think that my shock level could exceed the day I found out I was expecting. That just goes to show we should never, ever, say never. Some of you will get a kick out of the fact that Jimmy was speechless. In our 11 years of marriage I have not seen that happen very often. He will be such a wonderful daddy to little girls.
The good Lord knows our needs so I am sure that He will be with us through this new phase of our lives. Any one out there with good books to read about twins let me know. I am feeling the need to read! I think my bible is definitely the place to start. It is hard to see an ultrasound without the verse I am fearfully and wonderfully made continuing to pop into my mind.
Hey sweet thing. This is Tami's cuz Judy. TRUST "I can do ALL things thru Christ...." You have such a good group around you. Lean on them. Love to you and yours.
Hey! I finally found your pleonast site - just in time for incredible news! I'll let David and Adrienne know - they always say that it gets easier after 3 months - something to hold on to I guess. I'm so excited for both of you and will be praying for a good pregnancy.
yes, I was crestfallen, but Paula said the boys hadn't slept well, and today I talked with Robyn and she said that one of the boys is sick, so I'm very sorry to hear that! How are you doing, you baby factory? :-) I really wanted to talk to those girls and tell them how lucky they are. Catch ya next time. BTW, my nephew might be worshipping with you now. He just moved to Auburn, his name is Josh Lewis. If you see him give him a hug from us!
No worries! I have an appt on 22nd. I think that Mon. would probably be the best day for me. I'll ask Kristyn if she is still interested and able to go.
Have fun with P Pie! I'm headed to the bookstore and walmart this morning. In the mood to do some sewing!
Hip Hip Hooray Hip Hip Horay!!! That was the sound in my house last night as Anderson Lloyd Roberts went poo poo on the potty by himself. Yes folks you heard it correctly he did it while I was cooking dinner!!! Now don't get too excited. The success was short lived as I have changed 3 poopy pull ups today. Despite this I am sure that we are on the way to big boy underwear. (Don't you just love the parent vernacular??? you just don't envision yourself saying those kinds of things to all the world until it becomes of vital importance for your child to not be the one who isn't potty trained!! :) ) Anyway, as a celebration we went as a family with Sarah Chandler( Aunt SaSa) to snow biz last night! All else is fine in the Roberts world. Any suggestions on how to make the break from pull ups to underwear. With Jesse I just let him go around naked for a few weeks. I can't do that here at a rental house.......
Yay! I would just put on the underwear, since I got so sick of paying so much for Pullups or diapers and said that's what they would have to wear since they were big boy(s). It didn't take too long for them to get used to the idea, even though there were several pairs of dirty underwear to endure before it became the norm, but it's been quite a while since I've had any poopy underwear around these parts (my youngest turns 10 on Friday, so I guess that's a good thing. ha ha!)
No suggestions, but I look forward to hearing yours! R decided we needed to start training T now! HA! I finally convinced him that T is a little young yet. :)
Yes, financially beneficial. Obviously, the more kids you go through, the cheaper. And it depends on what kind of diapers you use. The "prefold" kind are the cheapest, and you can use either pins or "Snappis" (attachment devices - I use these) to keep them together (then a cover on top). I like the snap diapers, but they're MUCH more expensive. And don't freak out, but I have bought some (of the snap kind) used. I got them in "excellent" or "very good" condition, and I washed them in hot water before using. Never had any problems with them. Used, you can get them for about $8 each. (Ditto for covers.) You'll need at least 24 diapers and 4 covers. Confused yet? I like the cloth because T does better in them. We use disposables for travel and now at night. (R can't stand the idea of T being in a wet diaper all night.) As for being on board, let's face it - poop is gross, whether in paper or cloth. You have to deal with it one way or another. Who will be changing the most diapers and doing the laundry? (Oh, I wash diapers every 2 days. Line dry them, fluff in the dryer. Not "intensive" but it can get old some days.)
And as for names, "Jonah" makes me think of a big fish. I realize that Jonah wasn't the fish, but I still think of one! :) Please don't name your son the same as mine. We'll never keep straight which one we're talking about! :)
One more thing - I've heard you can get cloth "training pants," but I don't know when they're most beneficial. I think they have a plastic cover sewn to the cloth inside. Maybe someone else has used them???
nakedness is the only thing that worked. thank goodness Lydia was easier than abby, but used nakedness all the same. maybe just get a carpet cleaner afterward. or someone suggested to me putting underwear on under the pullup so they feel wet. didn't work for mine. but maybe he already peepees in the potty, just not poop. so glad to say goodbye forever to those days. :-) good to see you on here. how ya feeling?
Just because the suitcase is out doesn't mean there's anything in it. Actually, T put his truck in it yesterday. :) I think he wants to take it with us. Maybe I should carry it on the plane. He can go "brooom brooom" up and down the aisles. Yeah, I'm looking forward to a 9 hour flight with a toddler!
I got sidetracked. Actually, I'm better about packing since moving here. Don't know if it's the excitement of going "home," or that it takes so long to get everything together for a month's trip (or 2 months, as the case may be)!
Hi all. I know it has been a while but I have been feeling very sentimental towards all of my Fayettevill/Newnan sisters. I just wanted to take the time to say that I love and miss you all. I have a horrible habit of "putting off til tomorrow" and am going to try to be better about it.
For a little Roberts' update (you will have to wait for pics until Kristyn comes to see me and teaches me how AGAIN but verbage I can handle).
Jesse is officially a preschool graduate and a tee ball fanatic. He love to play and his last game is tomorrow night. He keeps telling me that he has to win to get a trophy. I don't have the heart to tell him that they don't even keep score. Anyway, he loves it and in the process we have met a really nice Christian family who attends a tiny congregation in town and their son and Jesse seem to have really hit it off. On a funny note he told me recently when asked if he wanted a brother or a sister that he did not care if it was a boy or a girl but that he DID care if it was a bear or a monster.
Andy is growing so big and is learning how to go on the potty. Before motherhood I did not know how much time, energy and thought could possibly go into elimination.....who knew?? He still loves to play with cars and trucks. He also has gotten into the tee ball thing. He gets bored at the games and to help him be still for the entire thing I bribe him with huge pickles from the concession stand and that has spawned a mother-son pickle eating extravaganza.
Jimmy still loves his job and now has a guy to commute with. He is a big sports fan too so I am sure there is plenty of discussion to and from work. Jimmy also has been the coach of Jesse's team and has enjoyed it much more than he would let on.
I am getting bigger by the day. As of Friday I am 14 weeks. We are scheduled to find out the sex of the baby on June 12th. It would be nice to have a girl but we will just have to see...
We are really struggling with names so any suggestions are welcome!!!Hope to see you Atlanta folks soon.
Found this on the internet (is there anything it can't do?):
Frogs in dreams (like lizards, turtles, and fish) are highly associated with babies, and are common in the dreams of pregnant women, or in women who are contemplating children in their lives. The reason why is because their small size and primitive stage of development is associated with the early growth of an embryo in the womb.
Almost went into labor when I saw your name lit up!!! Just had my 19.5 ultrasound. Everything is good and gender is still female. The position of things in the womb may make things interesting this time around. I'll have more ultrasounds to determine if a c-section is needed this time around. Can't wait to hear what the news is for you at your ultrasound! Come for a visit sometime. We can have a big pitch-in!
Friday is a no-go. We have company coming in (shocking, I know); Mama & Daddy are coming next week. Y'all need to come here & maybe we can have a fish fry or some good ol' Whitt's!
Tucker is great! Once one person gets dfone loving on him he goes to the next person(ha, it's a never ending cycle :) I have to tell you, we did shave hime because he was acting so lethargic and panting sooo much.....Well, it was hard to shave Tucker since he has such thick hair. I'll have to send you a picture.
maybe I should prepare you more. Our clippers got really dull half way through so it didn't get it really good.....We've been calling hime ET ( But he feels 100% better and has been WAY more playful :D
I've been meaning to ask you - are you planning to try cloth diapers with #3? And also, I'm planning to buy you new bibs instead of returning the ones you loaned us. I'm ashamed for you to see them! (Did I mention my son loves plums?)
As for names, what happened to Katy? Or is the issue with boys' names? I can give you a few from here - how about Vladislav or Jaromir (pronounced "Yaromir" with a rolled R)?
I am wanting to use cloth diapers although JR is not totally on board with the idea. Do you think it has been financially beneficial? How labor intensive is it? Katey is still a possibility but you know we have to throw around other ideas. Boy names at this point aren't as bad. Jimmy likes Benjamin and Jonah. I can live with B but not J. No more J names for this family plus I don't like the biblical Jonah very much If you come to Fl I will do all that I can to get down there. Any ideas about when?
Jessica is giving me photo lessons so here we go..... Love to all.
We had the best time last weekend in Fayetteville. We love and miss you all. Come see us when you can. You all know that the Roberts' door is always open.
atta girl. Auburn could use some crimson to confuse everybody in that orange and blue atmosphere they've got going on down there. ;) Hey, Mary Ann, you know I'm just kidding...or am I?
He is a pretty shy guy, until you get to know him...and I've known him since he was in KG and he's still a little shy around me. :) Glad he's been going to church there...which is...what is the name of the congregation you attend?
Hey, University's site is actually auburncofc.org (you had just left out the "f") I wonder, did David Hartsell preach there while he was in Auburn or was it somewhere else? you know he preaches in a much better town now...Tuscaloosa...;P
