The rest of this week is going to be completely crazy, so I figured I would try to clean things before I got too busy.
Academic Situation:
I'm pretty happy with my classes so far. Definitely happier than when I had 13 hours of music classes. Now I have...
Western Civ.
Speech
Chorus
Chamber
Friends
Personal Health and Fitness
Music Literature
I would tell you what I had before, but just trust me...it was ridiculous.
Social Situation:
Wonderful :) I love all the friends I have made and getting to spend more time with old ones. I love the fact that I hang out with different people every day too. :)
Spiritual Situation:
I'd like to say that I'm taking full advantage of all the devos on campus, but I'm not. :( Not yet, anyway. I'm hoping that I'll feel like I can go to more as I get settled in.
I've been visiting several congregations in the area. Some I've been pretty impressed with, others....not so much. I really enjoy visiting around. Each congregation is unique and it's encouraging when you visit one that seems to share in the same principles and opinions on things as yourself. Anywho, I would love to settle somewhere, but I'm still looking.
Music Situation:
I love music, but not enough to be a music major. However, pleasure music is sooooo awesome here! My friend David and I usually like to jam when we hang out, but here there are the other kids in Friends to jam with. :) James (bass player) and Kate (violinist/vocalist/pretty much whatever she wants to play...lol) are the main people who get together with us.
David and I have also been able to finish writing a song that we had written over the past month or so and also write another one just tonight.
The first song we wrote ended up being one of our audition songs. We're both pretty excited about it and David has gotten us hooked up with a recording opportunity. One of the guys that used to go to school here now works for a company that produces music videos. He wants us to come over some time and put together a recording, then make a music video. :) I'm reallllly excited about it! We're going to try to get together sometime next week to do it.
Wednesday afternoon are special auditions for chorus. I'll be auditioning to sing "God Bless America" with a select group at some type of business function off campus. Later that night after church are the talent show auditions. I'm pretty sure David and I are going to audition with our song.
Food Situation:
It's true. You starve as a college student. I am always hungry! It's crazy! The food is not that great down here, but it's not unbearable. It makes me very thankful for home cooked meals, that's for sure!
Well, that's all I have for now. There's always something interesting happening here at FC, but to write about everything would probably be a bore. lol Hope everyone's having a great week! Happy Labor Day!
Sounds like your schedule ended up very nicely. Health & Fitness is a pretty easy class (assuming you have Moorer). We talked him into canceling class last semester so we could go to Jamba Juice haha.
Find a church home can take quite a bit of time down here. There are soooo many churches near campus that it's tough to visit them all. Good luck in that endeavor.
You did SO great last night :) And you looked beautiful, of course. Thanks for being such a sweetheart. Love ya! I can't wait to hear you guys again :)
Sarah Finely, I love you and I miss messaging my twin via pleonast.I'm glad you are doing well.I'm still kind of in shock that we live in the same building.
It's definitely not sunk in yet that I'm leaving for FC tomorrow. For some reason, I don't think I'm going to be very sad to leave until I get on the plane. I'll miss several people, but my brother, sister, mom, dad, and Danielle most of all. I love them so very much. :) This is such a big step for me and I can hardly believe I'm making it. Wow....
Sorry I haven't posted in like a million years! Life has been super busy since I'm getting ready for college. I've basically gotten all my packing done, so I'm super pumped about leaving Monday! :)
Tonight we went to the Texas Rangers vs. New York Yankees game in Arlington, TX. We had decided before we left that we were going to stay for a couple of days and have a mini vacation before I leave. :) So, we traveled around after the game in search of a hotel. Just for fun, we drove by the Gaylord Suites. My dad even got out and checked to see how much it would be. :P However, just as we were about to leave, he pulls up to one of the parking gates (you have to pay like $12 bucks for parking :P) We thought he was crazy for wanting to park and look around....he's the type of person that would do that. lol Anyway, we park and all of a sudden we connect the dots....tonight we're staying at the Gaylord!!!! :)
I'm not really sure of what we're doing tomorrow. I heard that we might be going to eat at the rainforest cafe, but we'll see :)
