Nick did not get his job back on Monday. There was a lot of nasty stuff going on behind the scene that we found out about. Short version is.... A few weeks ago, a manager tried to push his blame for stuff going wrong onto Nick in front of the bigwigs, but it didn't work because Nick had done nothing wrong. Well, he has been festering a grudge and did a lot of lieing and changning documents to get Nick fired. The Union fought and the Union lost. We believe this is all for the better. Nick has put up with a lot to take care of us the last 6 years, I believe that God is using this to give him a much better situation and bless him for all that he has stayed strong through.
"It just so happened", better yet, God allowed the timing of Nick loosing his job to be the same time that one of our friend's (who owns his own company) son went back to college, therefore leaving him in need of a worker! Nick was going to call him but he called Nick 1st:o) Nick will start building blinds for him tomorrow. It will just be temporary till Nick can find something that will pay better. And gives Dennis time to find someone. So it is a win, win situation! We are so thankful!!
Daniel is improving. It has been a very painful recovery but he is on the way:o) Dad came on back but Mom is still at the hospital with Shawnee and Daniel. Also keep Shawnee's Mom is your prayers, she spent some of the time in the emergency room with pains in her chest. I believe it was some sort of viral infection.
Samuel and Joseph are enjoying their new schools! Samuel is being very responsible, getting up and ready and then coming home and doing his homework before doing anything else. Joseph need's a little more help;o)
Thank you for all the prayers, kind words and emails!
Sarah
So thankful Nick has a temporary job. I love your attitude and know that your faith in God will bring Nick to a better job.
I'm sure you are having fun and staying busy with 4 sons right now! hehe.
We are so very happy to hear Daniel is improving. The Lord has heard our prayers!
I spoke to Mom earlier on the phone, and she said all three surgeons said Daniel's surgery went well. He is in recovery and they have seen him! He wanted to visit instead of sleep:o) He knew there would be plenty of time for that later. She said they did have to remove some muscle, so he won't be able to sit up on his own for a while, until his other muscles strengthen and can compensate. They were able to get the whole mass out, aka Hank, they did have to scrape his bladder but not take a chunk out like they originally thought. The mass looked good, not angry, they said:o) So, no cancer!!! Woo Hoo!
He will have to wear a catheter for 2 weeks and he'll be in the hospital 7 to 10 days. Mom said to tell everyone thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers. Now, they're hoping and praying for a speedy recovery!
HEY! I've been meaning to email you for the past SEVERAL days, but I haven't been able to because we're packing up the house! Hopefully, pretty soon, I'll be able to sit down and dedicate some time to giving you a real update on the Grants. :) I hope things are going well for you guys. Any news on Nicholas' job situation??
The bang happened at the right spot b/c the brownies were cooked to perfection!
On another note, I need to request everyones prayers....today has been a VERY hard day, Nick lost his job. The Union is fighting to get it back but we will not know if it is even a possiblity until Monday afternoon and then who knows how long it can take after that. We are not in a good situation but we are VERY thankful that God is on our side!! Please pray that Nick will find a job quickly and that it will fullfill what we need most; spiritually and physically.
Thank you in advance for your much needed prayers!
We still had the Bible study tonight, a family came that have been visiting church off and on for about a year. I have been asking them to come over for a while. They came for the first time tonight! I was very excited, I hope that it will progress into something wonderful for the Lord!
So sorry to hear about Nick's job. I really feel for you as we may be about to experience the same thing. We will be keeping you guys in our prayers! I heard that the FAA was looking for air traffic controllers right now, and if I remember correctly Nick had been interested in that at one time.
((((HUGS)))))) I love you Sarah and I know what you are going through. Be strong. Don't let doubt and satan creep in and rock your strength. These are the things he LOVES to put his nasty little hand in and stir the pot.
Wed night after church I was trying to make a special treat for my wonderful hubby. Hot brownies with icecream and chocolate syrup on top, sprinkled with nuts:o) I was in the living room reading to the boys and Nick was doing some work on the computer when there was an awful noice and then...BANG! There was a bright white light in the kitchen! Nick ran in and shut off all the power while I was keeping the boys out. It was officially dead at 9:45pm. Too late for CPR. As some of you may recall, we were going to replace it but then the wreck, the plumbing collapsing, the heater going out, and the flood made us put replacing the oven on the back burner;o) Nick used one of his sick days on Thurs to help me get a new one. Home Depot and Lowes could not get me one until this coming Wed....that means I would STILL be with out one! But Nebraska Furniture Mart had exactly what I wanted and marked down several $100 and delivered it Friday morning, which means I got a much nicer oven than I was expecting for the same amount as if I would have waited a week for a much lesser model! This is me doing the happy dance! :o)
My knee and ankle are much better! I was able to take the boys and deliver my doorhangers today for work. It was so wonderful to get out and get the exercise again! Very good for the mental state of mind;o)
Tomorrow, we are going to Jumping Catfish for lunch b/c it is my mother-in-law's b-day. There will be some good eating! It is so nice that it is Nick's day off so he can go with us. Usually he misses everything, Erlene was very happy that he can come. Then, tomorrow night, I'm cooking Gumbo to have all the young adults over for our Bible Study. We have had a full house each time! We are really enjoying it and it seams to be helping them as well.
I signed up under Holly to have Usborne parties! I've been busy getting ready for my first party! I'm very excited! I had a party with Holly and I got my free books in and the boys LOVE them and we want more, so this is my way of getting more and having fun while I'm doing it:o) I was excited that as a new consultant, I can offer double FREE books to all my hostesses for the first 12 weeks! A friend of mine is excited b/c she is going to stock up on christmas presents for all of her grangkids. I'm going to enjoy helping with that:o)
I think this is my longest update yet, hope no one got bored!
I certainly didn't get bored. Great update, and YAY for a new oven!!!! Woohoo. I've been planning to make gumbo this week, too. One of our elders gave me a TON of okra I need to use up, and you can only eat so much FRIED okra before feeling a bit guilty! haha.
I'm so tired, but can't sleep. Ugh! love you.
Oooh, sorry about the oven! But glad you got such a good deal on the new one! :) Hope your b-day lunch and study/dinner go well! Good luck with the Usborne too! :)
There are still boxes around but they are completely in the house!:o) Bryce has already spent the night with Joseph twice and Joseph is spending the night with us tonight:o) The boys are inrolled in school and start the 14th. Mom is scurrying around getting this and that done. Dad is back at work and getting what he can done inbetween. I cleaned their house and shampooed the carpets before they got here. My mother-in-law and her mom came and helped me quite a bit. But then when I finished and was packing up Saturday night, I fell. Messed up my knee and my ankle! So...moving in Sunday afternoon was not done by me:o) I got to direct traffic and open and close doors. I'm getting better but I have spent the week walking like a dork, o well. I was able to get what I was most needed for done:o) I finished lining Mom's kitchen cabinets and other things here and there.
Mom and Dad want to be with Daniel for his surgery, so Nick and I are going to brother-sit. We are going to go stay at Mom and Dad's and take care of the boys while they are gone.
Now...I REALLY need to work on MY house!!!
Knowlege for the day: 2 year old holding a screw driver and a flat screen tv do NOT go together.....
You must be so excited to have your parents so close!! This is going to be so much fun for you!!!
I'm sorry about your knee. You take care of that. Rest, ice, elevation! (The nurse in me has to pop out from time to time)
Daniel told me about the TV... Poor Nick...
I doubt that I "need" to help you organize! But I would love to come visit!!!!! Take care of your boo-boo. I am so happy for your family being so close!!!
Hey there! I'm glad you found me on here. :) Yep - Ben and I are coming up on our 4-year in December. We are finally moving from Tampa back to Missouri at the end of this month - we are super excited! Hope things are going well with you guys (your boys are CUTE!).
Wow, I'm sorry. At least he's not hurt. I know of a 19 month old whose parents are members of a church in Ohio who had a tv fall on her head and now she's in a coma.
Hey girl! I got married Jan '06. And Dan is a USMC officer in flight school. And wow how the time has flown--six years for you guys already! That is great! I'm so glad that you are on here, it has been way too long.
