In mid-June I went to Nashville, TN for a wonderful roommate reunion.
In early July we went to Dickson, TN for Kamp Kennessee.
From August 16th-22nd we'll be in Lewisburg, TN where Coulter will be preaching a week-long meeting for the Berean congregation. The girls and I are traveling with Coulter. So, our days will be pretty open (I think) if anyone wants to meet up somewhere, sometime. Coulter will be spending a lot of time in preparation for a class he's teaching on Daniel next quarter so I imagine we'll get a little stir-crazy at some point or another (we're staying in a hotel).
That should be it for Tennessee visits...at least for this year. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Heads up Tampa folks: I'll be in Tampa, husbandless & childless, for the Tampa Bay Area Ladies Weekend at the end of September...hope to catch some of you there!
****Note: Not to mention names for anything, but Christie's feelings were hurt that I didn't mention we're stopping through Birmingham for a second time this summer to spend the night with her family. ; ) We can't wait to see you guys!****
I have never been to the Ladies Weekend cause I was either giving birth or sick with being pregnant and now the Father Daughter Retreat is the next weekend and I figured that was just too much for me. Maybe one of these days I'll get to go! have fun!
Can't wait to see you guys in Tennessee this weekend. With 3 trips to the area this summer, maybe you all should think about moving up there sometime in the future!!!!!
Hey. You left Lydia's formula container here. It is clean and will be waiting on you on Friday. Glad y'all made it okay. Oh, and my strawberry cake was soooooooo yummy! I thought about you when I ate it! :)
Coulter and I recently worked as Kamp Kounselors at Kamp Kennessee. Here are some of the highlights:
- 26 baptisms - they all happened after midnight each night...no one was ever in before 2am - praise God for all of the new souls saved & pray that they all grow stronger in the Lord each day.
- Spider bite - it's nasty and I have a feeling it'll leave a nasty scar when all is said and done (this on top of the many mosquito bites).
- Societies - the kamp implemented FC's society teams for their team competitions - the kids seemed to really enjoy it and it was like a flashback to FC for me.
- Wonderful Volunteers - all of the men and women who volunteered a week of their time to allow these kids the opportunity to attend camp were amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed getting know each and every one of them. Major props to the Bains...I learned so much from them, more than they'll ever know.
- Bathroom Wars - my co-counselor in the cabin, Ashley Porter Witherington, and I waged war on our Group 2/3 girls and their nastiness in the bathroom. After the first full day of nastiness, we made them have their devo on "serving others" in the bathroom. I asked them to sit of the floor, they said "no way," I asked why and they said it was "gross." No kidding!!! After that didn't work, all of the junk left in the bathroom was taken to the lost and found table across campus. After that didn't sink in, they were duct taped out of their rooms until they cleaned up. My momma would have shot me if I had left trash laying around like they did. How hard is it to throw paper towels into the trash can? We weren't asking for it to be perfectly clean, just pick up after yourselves...after all, 20 girls were sharing 2 showers, stalls, & sinks. Despite the grossness, Ashley and I had fun with it. : )
I'm sure Wick will have a better, more relevant recap of the week. I'm still too tired to remember everything.
26 baptisms is amazing! I hope they aren't too sleep deprived to remember that they were baptized! :) What age girls did you have? I can't wait to catch up more! Glad everything went so well. All the camps are so different. I just assumed everyone used the societies for sports...And Ryan got bit at camp too - his leg is still swollen and it happened the first night. Not sure what got him.
Of course the offer is still available! :) I will also check with my mom about the hotel. Sometimes they can open up more rooms.
I'll see you in about a month - yay! :)
Yeah right - you want to wear the little bikini on the beach. I know how you are. :) just kidding. We (my sister and I) did gymnastic routines in our living room. I really thought I was emulating them exactly.
Hey. Are y'all still planning on staying with us Friday night? Tonight I told Landon that he was having a sleepover on Friday night...I left out the part that it was with 2 girls. :)
I just returned from Nashville, TN where I spent the weekend being completely encouraged and uplifted by the most amazing girls I know. I'm sorry that it took seven years to happen but I'm confident we won't let another seven years go by before doing it again. Amanda Olson was our gracious host and her husband, Adam was kind enough to watch the kids that we couldn't leave behind and even help us make smores one night. We played a game of Therapy, studied from a book called "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World," laughed together, cried together. Words will never describe how much that weekend meant to me. So, cherish your friends, let them know how much you love them. I love my girls so much! Here's some photos from our fun weekend:
Those are so great! I can't wait to get all the pictures! I seem to have lots of the kids! I especially want the group ones. The ones Adam took were hilarious! We love you too!
how fun!!! I'm so jealous - I'm hoping to get to see chaiah in September, its been way to long! How was taht book? I'm going to be studying it in the fall w/a group of moms and I'm super excited ...we just finished a Mom after God's own heart...I really like Elizabeth George books - have ou studied hers?
OK so I totally thougth I was commenting on Becky Boyer's page so it took me a min to figure out who you wwere! I must have clicked over to many pages (it was like midnight when i was on!) Anyways so did you like the Mary heart in Martha world one? I havent bought that one yet....if you'd like to read the mom after God's heart I'd be happy to send it to you I'm done w/it and I was going to pass it on (it wasw given to me also!)
that looks and sounds like so much fun!! i dunno, i could be asking you the same question!! how are the two sweet ones doing?? yeah, things have been crazy... but hopefully we can visit up there someday! we always welcome visitors in madison as well! love uuuu!
Sorry I haven't called back yet. I'm glad you had a great reunion with your roomies! Nick's family left this morning. We had so much fun and were SO busy!
I'm trying to take a break from Pleo. I feel very conflicted about the things people post, the comments left, and the time spent on here. I feel like the only thing that can be done is to limit what I do on here. Hence my disappearance. BUT...the least I can do is leave some pictures of my two beautiful girls the Lord has blessed us with. Enjoy!
Sleepy Baby
Sleepy Toddler...what do we do to our kiddos???
Beach Baby
How's this pose?
Just relaxin'!
"No, Pa is silly!" (joke between Emma Kate & her Pa)
WHat beautiful & sweet girls. Isn't it just the best having 2 girls? :) I love the beach baby picture - I have a few of Annie that look like that. So precious!
Loved the pictures! Lily has that same pink dress that Emma is wearing at the beach. Its her coverup. I love Emma's room! Well I'm assuming its her room. And I doubt seriously that Emma minds spraying the hose. Its luke's favorite!
Great! We start at 6:00 PM Sunday night. 5-6 hours from Southern Nashville(Brentwood area) to Auburn is a fair range of time, but I have never traveled with children.
