...and already leaving for vacation. I'm sitting in the airport, awaiting a plane to Chicago. I'm heading there for the weekend to meet my aunt, Kay, and spent quality time over the weekend. She has to go up there for this upcoming week, so we thought we would take a few fun days before her meetings or whatever on Monday. I'll return Monday, the first day of school for students. Oh well. They won't miss me. Besides, Therapy doesn't start for 2 weeks, so I'll just build my therapy schedule while on the plane heading back to Tampa.
I get back in town Monday, and Aaron leaves Monday to go to Indianappolis for the work for a few days. He was sad at first that he couldn't make the trip with Kay Kay and I, however, as of last night, I think he is looking forward to being able to play Wii, watch ESPN, play soccer, you know all those boy things that he does normally, but under a more "limited" basis.
Thanks for thinking of me about baby Ciampa!! I just got your text this morning. Haven't been able to get my phone to turn on for the past 3 days! No one told me all I needed to do was let my 1 year old play with it!! So, he showed me that he could get it on and that I had a message from you! :)
Please give Amanda and Brian my love and congrats!!
I hope you are having or had a great time with Kay Kay in Chicago. I owe you a huge phone call. School just started, plus with two jobs things are a little crazy right now...so please bear with me. I will call you soon! Miss you!
Bummer, we would have loved to see him. We are not that far north. Only about 20-25 minutes. Next time he needs to call.....we could have worked something out. :(
I grew up with your husband. Would you tell him Cassie (Smith) Barajas said hi. I also met Lindsay and Craig, who knew you. They were vacationing in Las Vegas and are very nice individuals. It is a small world
Hey! The many times you've been to NYC, you could give me some tips! A group of friends and I are planning a trip there for my 30th bday. Where do you recommend staying? We are trying to go for 4 nights and spend less than $1000 total for all expenses - including spending money. So share some knowledge! :)
I would love for you to live close so we could pick peaches and apples together, or just hang out. Oh well. We are planning to come to Tampa sometime in December/January. I'll let you know and maybe we can meet for coffee or something if ya'll are in town.
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Stephen just recently learned how much I loved my "kids" and that I had 10 of them and can still name them (oh and they're all packed, waiting for their trip to Florida.
I tried Sushi for the first time this week. The Gates were my support group, and it was very good. I always new I would like it, just never tried it before.
I'm ready for more!
Internship: Complete
Back to Work: Monday
First day of last year of Grad School: August 25th
good grief, you sure have been in school for a long time. Aren't you ready to grow up yet? j/k :) I have to admit, I'm not cool enough to say I've tried sushi - it just hasn't appealed to me yet.
Ok...so I stink at the whole calling back thing. Things have been crazy for the past couple of weeks, but I will be calling you soon! I'm so sorry about the accident. I'm just glad that you're ok...a definite answer to prayer! I will talk to you soon, I promise! Love you and miss you! And congrats on finishing your internship! I know it's a huge relief!
Hey. He is ssooo much better. Almost 1 hour after placing the WIC into his ear...his spirits started changing and he started playing around and laughing and the real JAKE started coming out again. It was like almost immediate. We went back to the Doctor yesterday and they changed ear drops to one that has a steroid in it to provide more for the swelling inside because there is so much that he is having bleeding inside the canal itself. He is sleeping throught he is sleeping thru the night, which WE were not doing at all last week. Thanks for the comments.
yay for your internship being complete & trying sushi! boo for your car accident! i'm sorry that happened, but praise be to God that none of you were hurt!
Yesterday Stephanie and Ashley and I started out on a trip to Mobile to see the fam. About 6 miles away from our exit here in Tampa, it started raining. Hard. I slowed down, pulled into the right hand lane, and within a split second, was upon a car with no lights on who slammed on their brakes. In an effort to avoid being smashed by the car behind me, I got over. Due to rain, brakes locking....etc. We did a 180 degree turn and skidded backwards several hundred feet into the median and over some poles and a drainage area. I prayed the entire time, as a million other thoughts ran through my head. We were all completely safe, minimal damage to the car (still requried a tow truck). We aren't even sore today...
The rubber neckers however ended up in a 3 car accident, skidding towards us in the median. One of thse cars was SMASHED. No one was injured there.
Then another rubber necker, from the on-coming traffic lost control and came to a screaching halt in the median less than a foot behind my car. Again....all were safe.
So it was a great day of God keeping us safe. Needless to say, I'm still in Tampa. And we are all able to laugh heartily about it now.
In an effort to console me and help me take my mind off of things, my sweet husband took all of the couch cushions and made a large pallet on the floor and we watched movies and vegged out. This after a great dinner at Carraba's. Then...I even had ice cream for breakfast this morning! Down side...my Roomba that I was looking forward to, now has to be postponed secondary to a nice deductable. Oh well! God was with us and all is okay.
Moral:
Turn your lignts on when it rains.
Don't slam on your breaks.
Don't rubber neck!
Well first of all I was so excited to see that you were coming to Mobile.....crash! I am so sorry for you, I have had an accident in the rain before too, not quite to the extent of this, but it is very scary when your car is moving and you have absolutely no control. Very thankful that you were all okay, God is good. Love to you both!
I don't know of any congregations in downtown Chicago. The congregation that I absolutely love and attended for 2 1/2 years is in Downers Grove, which is about a 30 min train ride from downtown. If you decide to do that, I have several friends at Downers Grove coC who would be more than happy to pick you guys up at the train station and take you to worship. Just let me know!
Did you write down the license plate number of the car w/o lights? If he had slammed on his brakes, his brake lights should have lit up. If they didn't, that's SO illegal and I hope he got in trouble for it after the wreck (he was a car involved, right?). I'm so glad you guys are okay!
I am so glad everything turned out okay. I have been there except it was on ice , two lane road, and a 18 wheeler was coming in the other lane- no one got hurt even the car was totally a ok. God was with us too~
I am so sorry...I didn't know about this until just now. I am really glad that you all were ok. That must have been a pretty frightening few minutes of the unknown. It probably felt like a long time before you realized you were going to be ok. The power of prayers. Oh...Aaron, good work on the emotional support...you gained points in the love bank on that one. :) Way to go!!!!
What a great weekend!
Friday night: dinner and movie with some friends at the last minute.
Saturday: Went to Orlando with Adam and Stephanie and our friend Anna Muniz to stay the night and worship with the Saints there on Sunday morning. Anna will be going to UCF in the fall and wanted to visit a congregation over there, and we always love an excuse to go somewhere. So we all split a REALLY nice Condo that was larger than our first apartment. It was such a great price too! So we swam, went shopping, ate, and swam some more. When you were younger, did you ever play a game in the pool where you went under water and yelled a word or phrase and the other people had to guess what you said? Well the 5 of us played this game and laughed hysterically for over an hour in the pool last night! It was great!
Sunday: AM worshiped and enjoyed getting to go to lunch with sweet Jill :-) then headed home to Tampa.
The best part of Sunday: My sweet husband and Erika and Stephanie surprising me with a birthday party!!!!! Erika and Monica made a WONDERFUL dinner and so many of my friends were there! I can't express how blessed I felt and how wonderful it was to be with all of my friends! Erika is so incredibly dear to my heart and it meant so much to me! My hubby has been so sweet to me as usual, and God is increasing my relationship with my sister n law by leaps and bounds. Tomorrow the birthday weekend continues with dinner at Kobe's!!! WOO HOO! Stephanie informed me this weekend that the weekend closest to your birthday means it's YOUR birthday weekend! So this was mine!
Downside: Not being with Jess on our shared birthday. Oh how I miss her the most during the month of July!
I was close - 1 year off! :) You do realize the 4th book comes out this Friday night at midnight, right? Are you still only on book 1??? 2 of my friends and I are going to the midnight party - well not for the whole thing, but particularly just to get our books, and we made our own tshirts, "Team Edward" - fun stuff!
Anyway...I get in tomorrow evening and am leaving Sunday afternoon. I'm going with Stacy to the Weliever's for lunch after church. Then she is taking me to the airport around 2! I am so bummed BOTH you and Allison won't be there. Ugh.
Where are you going?? I get in around 5pm Thursday. My mom and mamadear are picking me up and we are going out to dinner! :) Friday morning I am going to the physical therapist and doctor. :(
I'm so glad you had such a fun birthday weekend! So special to have such great family and friends who make it that way in our lives:) Happy Belated Birthday to you~!!
We really enjoyed having Arnold and Rayelda here last week:)
Lately I have been insanely busy with my class, and my full time externship. Fortunately, my externship is proving to be great and I am learning so much. This past weekend we had a baby shower for a dear friend, Amanda Ciampa. I really enjoyed working on some crafty projects for the shower, especially when Erika was around to help out, shop for a needed item, and take great photos! It was so much fun planning and working the shower with a few of my good friends.
Of course in the midst of this, I had a final, we had the jr high/high school devotional here at our house, and a few more daily to do's that couldn't be avoided. So my favorite day of the weekend...Sunday afternoon reading date with Erika!
Then came today....Monday. I get up and leave at 6:30 AM to drive to Clearwater for my internship, a normal 45 to 44 minute drive, leaving plenty of time to stop for gas and run into Wal Mart for something before being there at 8:00. As I approached the 1st toll booth, I looked up to realize that my Sun Pass wasn't on my window.....hmmmmmm who could've taken that out?
14 minutes later after explaining to the lady that I had no cash, 50 cents (toll = 75 cents), a credit card and a debit card, she finally tells me that she will take my DL # and give me a receipt to send a check for 75 cents to the state. Seriously...she could have told me that within the 1st 2 minutes. So I exited at the first possible exit bc I needed $ for more tolls. I took me 20 minutes to locate a CVS that would give me change back, nothing else was opened, it was only 6 50 AM!
I prayed for patience and a better day until I finally arrived at my site at 8:10.
Patience: Answered by being patient with my 2 cute little down syndrome men in their 50's who kept wanting to fall asleep during therapy (i'm not that boring, they are just always tire)
Better Day: Talking to Erika and hearing about her day, coming home to a mailbox full of cards, unexpected gifts, and a free pass to Universal Studios.
Glad to read that your day ended well. I would LOVE to see pics. of Amanda's shower. I wish so badly that she would join pleonast. You know, she was one of my suitemates fist year at FC. I miss that girl.
Yeah, we are really enjoying it. We(Baughn's amd Michael and myself) are supposed to be going away this weekend as a surprise for Gary's Bday..however, we decided to get up early and drive back Sun AM because none of us want to miss the class. Gee Tim...feel special LOL HA HA :)
Hey, wanted to thank you for your encouraging comments lately! Also, I just realized I never answered your question from a while back about what areas of PT I like. I've got a neuro rotation this Fall that I'm looking forward to...right now I think I'm more interested in that area than orthopedics. Also I've had exposure to acute care and nursing home settings...I think that's something that I could do if I had to, but it wouldn't be my first choice. The only other thing I've seen is home health, and I enjoyed that pretty well. I'll have a better idea soon of how much I like neuro...there's a lot of different directions you can take in that area!
