So Obama did it 11-05-08 05:56pm CST

Barack Obama has become president (elect) of the United States
of America. McCain did his best, Kudos to him, but in my opinion the best candidate won.

To the 95% of America that will not see their taxes raised. I want you to know that you are the only ones complaining about the higher taxes. (Obama only plans to raise the taxes of those who make over 250,000 to 39%: The same percent as it was under Bill Clinton (who had the best economy in many years).
BTW the two tax cuts that Bush put in place obviously haven't worked, that is why we are in debt.)(Ask yourself what would happen if we didn't pay taxes. Well we wouldn't have the money to support those alternative energy ideas that both John and Barack want to realize)

Also those who are saying, "Well that's taking from the rich and giving to the poor," I have to say, "what do you think we are doing in Iraq. We are using our tax dollars and giving to a people in another country who can take care of themselves. I guess that's something I don't get about some People: We can't take care of our own people without calling it socialism, but we can take care of the rest of the world.
And what is wrong with helping out hard working people, like police, who don't make quite as much as my dad, A Medical Doctor. Nothing. People are just being stubborn. But who likes Robin Hood anyway... right?

To all of those who make the abortion issue their main argument, I want to tell you that Sen McCain may say he's Pro-Life, but the only thing that Sen. John McCain planned to do about abortions was to leave it to the states. "I'm a Federalist" he says (Pontius Pilate much???). So basically he was going to throw the issue into someone else's hands. (Oh! And you say don't vote for Obama because of his views on abortion, even though McCain is doing almost the same thing, but vote for the man in an adulterous marriage)(fact: Obama does not agree with post-birth abortion).

To Joe the Plumber. Good luck on your business, and you will not receive a fine for not providing health care to your employees( because you are in the small business bracket. You also will not see a tax increase on any of your income under 250,000. (This also applies to the other small businesses that make over 250,000 a year.
That's about 2% of small businesses)

To all of those complaining about President (elect) Obama's health care plan, I want you to know that under McCain's plan your employer based health care will be taxed as income. That will probably cause a majority employers to not give the health care benefits. I also want you to know that you do not have to buy the health care that Obama will provide, but you can keep your own.

To all of those complaining about ending the war, I want you to know that we will still be in war with 2 other countries. The only war we will be ending is the war in Iraq (we never should have been there anyway. we are losing 10 billion dollars a month there and they have a 79 billion dollar surplus).

matermagistraIt is not a flat tax. It's a federal sales tax that replaces our current income tax. And it rocks.
matermagistraSadly, though, you won't see Obama endorse it. :(
markrobertsI am disappointed in your posts on my pleo. they are demeaning and unkind. I realize from the banner on your pleo that you feel strongly about this matter - but it is important that we learn how to disagree agreeably. I would urge you to give consideration to this.
markrobertsthere has been much talk to try and confuse people that McCain is not really against abortion. yet if one clicks on this link: http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/95b1851 2-d5b6-456e-90a2-12028d71df58.htm
you read the following: "John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat."
markrobertsyou dismiss him by saying he wants to remand this to the states and add some demeaning comment about Pontius Pilate - but that is what must be done to stop abortion: Roe V Wade grants federal protection to abortion. nothing else can be done until that law is overturned. your dismissive comments just demonstrate you don't really understand how/what is needed to change this law.
markrobertsObama has a 100% voting record with the NARAL - the abortion rights league. you can attempt to confuse "he voted for this because" and "he voted this way because" but in the end Obama will not say what McCain says: that Roe v Wade should be overturned, or that he will appoint justices who will over turn it. instead Obama has made very clear his determination to appoint justices that will back Roe V Wade and expand money for abortion in every way possible.
markrobertsthis is a direct quote from Obama's website: "Supports a Woman's Right to Choose: Barack Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority as President. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in that case."
markrobertsinterestingly, Obama's website places Obama's stance on abortion directly across the page from McCain's position so that voters can see how distinctly different they are. of McCain's position Obama says: "John McCain wants to overturn Roe v. Wade and his party’s platform opposes all abortions — even in cases of rape and incest."
markrobertssource: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/
markrobertsReuben says McCain isn't prolife but Obama says he is and that we should vote for Obama to preserve a woman's right to choose. what more need be said? we could explore McCain's view on stem cells etc (of which there is much misunderstanding) but in the end Obama makes his stance clear: he supports and intends to continue to support the murder of babies. McCain said he would work to overturn that law and stop the murder of babies. what more need be said?
markrobertsthat leaves Christians who voted for Barack Obama to answer this question: "Why did I give my support to a baby murderer?" at the top of this page it says "Barack Obama has become president (elect) of the United States of America. McCain did his best, Kudos to him, but in my opinion the best candidate won. " Reuben, how can the best candidate have won when the candidate who won supports the murder of unborn children while the other candidate doesn't? I cannot understand how any Christian could support such. I cannot understand how any Christian could support Barack Obama given his stance on gay marriage. What would Jesus say to a man who will facilitate and help the slaughter of innocent babies. your blog has much to say about economics ... but I believe Christians need to vote for what is right and not vote their wallets.
markrobertsif you wish to convince me otherwise all you have to do is fill in the blank: "It is right in God's sight to support abortion because ________________________." I have had many Democrats try everything they could to justify their support of baby murderers like Obama but when they had to fill in that blank they just couldn't. and I don't believe anyone can.
krazykrumMy arguments are on Mark Robert's blog. I will post a Blog with all of post later.
markrobertslet me respond once more. you wrote: "McCain can say that he is Pro-life all that he wants. But he still plans on throwing abortion into someone else's hands and that he doesn't plan on stopping it himself." the only way a President can stop abortion right now is to appoint conservative justices that will overturn the Supreme Court's decision. no President can do anything else. you keep dismissing that as if that is nothing but it is what must be done to stop abortion. McCain says he will take this vital step, Obama says he won't and opposes it. what more need be said?
markrobertsyou asked when Obama said he supported abortions. on his own website he says "However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority as President." you realize "pro-choice" is just a euphemism for "pro-abortion"? that is what that means - Obama supports a woman's right to kill her unborn child.
markrobertsand finally you stated: "Even though the way I vote has nothing to do with my views on abortion." really? and why not? why did you not take into account Obama's support of baby murder when you went to vote? how does a Christian, someone committed to see the world as God sees it, who understands the sanctity of human life, decide to vote apart from that issue? especially when Obama is so openly supportive of it?
markrobertsthose who voted for Obama voted for a man who pledged to support and increase abortion rights. so I ask again - plaease fill in the blank: ""It is right in God's sight to support abortion because ________________________."
markrobertsand when you answer my questions on your support of abortion I will then be asking you about why you supported a man who will work to legalize gay marriage.
markrobertsI urge you to take down your Obama banner and stop celebrating the election of a man who does not honor God, the Bible or intend to do what the Bible says government should do: protect the innocent (Romans 13:1ff).
krazykrumMy arguments are spread all over Mr. Mark's blogs. I will post all of our comments in one blog later for readers to take them as they will.
markroberts^^^ All Reuben can do is attack McCain - he doesn't understand the civil system or the vital importance of overturning Roe V Wade. but even if McCain's stance on abortion isn't good - how does that justify supporting Obama? we KNOW FOR SURE Obama's stance! Reuben I await your answer: "It is right in God's sight to support abortion because ________________________."
krazykrumI do not support abortion. but I also do not support many of McCain's policies. what else should i attack.
markrobertsReuben, I'm going to start deleting your responses. you are asserting without proof and not answering my questions. that's pretty disappointing. first, isn't doing SOMETHING against abortion better than supporting it like Obama does? second, all you've done is knock McCain - why don't you explain for us how a Christian can vote for a pro-abortion candidate? fill in the blank: "It is right to support abortion because ________." and don't forget to answer my many questions about supporting gay marriage too!
markrobertsI feel like your posts are just stirring the pot -- perhaps we should take this off pleo and work on it through email. I am open to continuing to think and reason from the Bible about this. but you'll have to do more than you've done here. you've relentlessly attacked McCain because in your view he doesn't do enough, but never explained how that makes it right to do vote for Obama when he is PRO abortion and won't do anything to stop it and will actually help it! you've never spoken to the issue of gay marriage and Obama's support of that. there's a lot on the table you have not dealt with. it may be time for you to think about some of this, perhaps talk to max or david some before you post more. I feel that you may just be in "defense" mode and not really thinking through the material I've put together here. give it some thought - and you remain in my prayers.
