I know I have been away a long time. Here is a quick update.
We have an exchange student from Greece staying with us now. He's been here about a week and a great guy. He mowed my grass on Monday and then cleaned up and reorganized my whole garage (wow!).
I am wanting to take in rafting on the Guadalupe next Friday, August 8. Anyone else interested in going?
I saw this on someone else's blog and loved it. Beaker was always one of my favorite Muppet characters. Enjoy.
Please email me (email address on my home page) a dedication, thought or scripture that you would like put on the dedication page of the cookbook. We are also encluding camp directors etc. Thanks.
I met Rose in 1996 in Shanghai. We were both at English Corner in People's Park one Sunday morning. I was impressed by this 12 year old girl. She gave me her card with contact information and after I got home from China I wrote. Thus began long friendship.
I saw her again on a subsequent trip and visited in her home. But because of her youth I chose not to share the gospel with her. Several years passed. We continued to write each other letters, then e-mail, and send birthday cards each year (our birthdays are a day apart). I was convinced by the things that she wrote that she had a good and honest heart, but time would tell.
Last September I took the opportunity to stop in Shanghai for 4 days on my way to Malaysia. I determined that I would see Rose, now an adult, and plant the seed. She was not like the wayside soil, because she took the word in and marveled at the story. She was not like the rocky soil either; she spent 6 months contemplating her decision.
Yesterday afternoon, March 30, Rose was baptized into Christ. She can now bloom like never before. Praise God.
Praise God. I teared up when I heard. It's such a wonderful feeling of renewal in myself to think about the power of the blood when somebody else is baptized.

Look what Melissa and I found tonight. They are living in the end of our canoe which is hanging in the garage. One has its mouth wide open facing the camara. Another one is behind it. You can see a full side view. Cute little wing, huh?
In this one you can see 3. One is still facing the camera. Another is just to the right. And a third is above and to the left.
Are you going to wait til they grow up to go canoing? sp? We found a nest in the spare tire of our horse trailer that was mounted up front. Fortunately they were still eggs. The mom flew off, then we used the trailer. We parked it in the same place and she came back after we parked it.
We has a robins nest in a tree right outside our window last year and got to watch the whole process with the father and mother trading off watching the eggs. It was amazing.
Daniel just called me from the National Open speech and debate tournament and told me that he won 1st place with his speech in the Open Interp category. He was so excited! I thank God that he stuck with it when he wanted to quit and was able to enjoy success from his hard work and God-given talent.
This qualifies him to go to the national tournament in June. I was so excited for him and wished I could have been there to share the joy with him. (I saw his speeches, but came home early to pack. I am leaving for India tomorrow.)
Here he is
Here is a picture of Daniel with some friends at the tournament.
This is the end of the first week of my trip to Europe. I spent the week days in England working during the day at one of Shell's refineries. At night I stayed in Chester. Chester has an wall around the inner part of the city that was first built by the Romans and has been rebuilt a few times. The town is quite pretty though unfortunately I didn't get to see it much by day.
I flew to Aberdeen Scotland on Friday night to stay with the Byers. This afternoon we visited a Scottish castle on the coast of the North Sea. Its several hundred years old. The Scottish crown jewels were once hidden their to prevent their destruction. Here is picture of Tim and I on a bluff overlooking the castle.
Here is a picture looking out of a window of the castle.
