HEY!!! Do you know what pleonest means??? 07-23-08 03:04pm EST
Any time I mention this website, people respond, "Pleo-what?" I say it again and they say, "What's that? How do you spell it?"

Well, today I was reading a commentary online, and lo and behold, the writer said Paul was "pleonastically speaking"!!! I thought pleonast was another made up word, sort of like everyone's pleonast monikers (blogger names?) I mean where do some of these crazy names come from? neetothebean? lala? the youngestduckamuck? I can't remember any more, but there are plenty of weird ones. So, that's what I thought pleonast was. Well, of course the creaters of this website are smarter than that. They used a word that comes from PLEONASM, which means "1. the use of more words than are necessary to express an idea 2. an instnace of this, as in "free gift" or "true fact" or 3. a redendant word or expression. fprms of "pleonastic" and "pleonastically". So now you know. And don't tell me you already knew that. And it fits the site perfectly, doesn't it?
kcwilsfordOOPS!! I may not be able to spell it right, but I know what it means!
jeanshey mom! I'm going to call in a few minutes. Get skype started up!
jeansby the way I probably never would have looked that up!
browngirl22I was with you, i thought it was a made up word. Thanks for defining that for me.
tandielqHi. This is Tandie Lacquement. I didn't know you were on hear til I stumbled from Nancy and Sheila's pages to yours. We were at Lanier not too long ago, but Nathaniel was hard to deal with and I didn't get to talk to many people. And you probably wouldn't even recognize Ian. He is a weed and keeps growing...will be 6 in Nov!
tandielq*here*
ncreavesActually, I knew it meant something, but never bothered to find out what it was. I was challenged just to figure out how to use it! :)
theyoungestduckamuckthe ducks amuck in europe- and i'm the youngest and the most amuck!!! it makes perfect sense, really. and, here's another clue......sometimes i call you MUDDER!!!
jeanswell, mom... I can't believe that you are supporting a woman with a tiny baby that she isn't going to be able to take care of! That is the end of the conversation! I'll call you in a couple days! love you!
jeansHi, mom! Can you send me em's address? I want to send out Christmas letters this year. Hopefully I'll get it together before it's too late! Wish I could have been with all of you! It was fun to talk though! I love you!

Shocking 04-26-08 01:58pm EST
Well, today I did something shocking, and it was shocking! For some weird reason, a wild impulse came over me, and I decided to dust the ceiling fan over our bed. The fact that I even considered doing it is shocking. I've been looking up at the thing for weeks, thinking how disgusting it was, but never had a serious plan to take care of it. It was just one of those things that you know needs doing, but, hey, not today. Well, I did it. And IT WAS SHOCKING. I've Never seen this much dust in my life. HUGE clumps of grey matter came floating down, plus a shower of teeny-tiny stuff. There were MAJOR spider webs on the 4 lights. Actually, I think they were cobwebs. No self-respecting spider would have lived there- too much dust. Those webs were vacated long ago. Thank goodness I had the good sense to cover the bed with an old sheet, because this stuff went everywhere. So. The good news is, I won't need to take on that task for a while! But, now the world (the pleonest world, anyways) knows I'm not a good housekeeper. I admit it. There's always something more important to do than cleaning my house. Talking to my daughters on the phone, taking a walk, drinking a cup of hot tea, wishing I was holding Olivia, praying, watching the lizard (a little one, not like the monster Jeanie saw in her garage) climbing on the rocks in the garden, reading my Bible, eating an apple, counting my blessings. Housework is best done tomorrow.
trishieI'm with you, Housework is best done tomorrow or even next week. I tackled scrubbing the bathroom today. It sure needed it. but there is always something better and more fun to do.
annabrettI didn't do any housework today. I actually just made the house dirtier! Maybe tomorrow...
jeansOur washing machine is broken so I don't have to feel guilty about not doing laundry! Yay!
trolleemGood to see you on here! That was some nightmare you described on my blog...wow. I agree with your evaluation above...there are many things more important than an immaculate house.
ncreavesI have decided that my ceiling fans are too high and therefore, I am excused! Having the church meet in our home has motivated me to some improvement. I don't like being embarrassed on a weekly basis so we do a quick job of it and hope no one opens closets. oh what would we do without closets? I plan to clean all mine sometime this year unless I come up with a good excuse to put it off. :)
loveofjebsKate, thanks so much for your encouragement. I was really overwhelmed by everyones comments and scriptures for me. It has done me a world of good. Thanks again.
loveofjebsWe are really enjoying her! I told Jeb that I thought she looked like Jack. And yes that's our patio. I love the bright colors and gardens here so I've tried to incorporate that at our house. It's fun.

Getting older... 08-11-07 02:33pm EST
Recently my daughter Anna wrote about turning 30. It is indeed a milestone birthday. In your twenties you can still be wild and crazy (to a point of course), but when you turn 30, you realize that yes, you really are an ADULT. (There are a few exceptions - my husband Joel insists he's just finishing his adolescense (sp?), and truth be told there are many days that I heartily agree w/ him.) But for most of us, 30 is adulthood. You have a mortgage. You have a spouse. You may even have a child. RESPONSIBILITY has arrived. BUT, still- someday you will look back and think, "I was ONLY 30!"

Now I can barely remember what 30 was like! Strange things start happening when you get older. A while back I went to the doctor about an aching thumb joint. He said it was arthritis. I said, "No, I'm too young to have arthritis." He said, "OK, we'll call it something else." very funny. And sometimes my knees make wierd noises, like they need oiling. And of course, I can't read ANYTHING w/o my glasses, which is very annoying.

Last week Joel & I spent a few days in a sleepy little town in SC. I forgot my shampoo & conditioner, so I grabbed the little "hotel" bottles and jumped in the shower. I washed my hair, then conditioned it. It didn't seem like it was very 'conditioned', so I figured, hey, it's cheap hotel stuff, so I squirted out every little bit of it and left it on a little longer, rinsed it out (which was difficult), and hopped out. My comb was not about to go through my hair. Well, yes, you guessed it. Let's just say that Body lotion doesn't work very well on your hair. So now I'm thinking I'm going to have to wear my glasses in the shower.

But getting older isn't all bad. I can climb Blood Mountain. I can still teach teenagers a thing or two (I teach HS). And I can dance like crazy in my living room when I listen to "I would Walk 500 Miles" or whatever the name of that song is. I may have shared too much w/ that last one. Oh well. I'm intimidated by this whole blog thing, anyway. Do I have to write something witty? Profound? Funny? I hope not.
ncreavesYou just did! :-) and I so identify. Sometimes I wonder if I'll be able to do lots of fun things with my later grandkids. My energy level ain't what it use to be....and I never was speedy out of the gate!
annabrettYeah! You finally posted!! THanks for the great trip to NYC. It was great to see where Emily's been all summer, and I enjoyed reconnecting with the cousins. I guess we be travelling to ATL next!
jeansWow! You posted! We had so much fun! Emily is such a city girl now! I keep telling Anna she's going to be unbearable back in BG b/c everything is so countrified! Olivia was so cute! Her teeth are big- she looks so funny with them! I love it! She was great while we were there. Had to experience the Babylax- I almost cried- it was terrible!
jeansI personally did NOT experience Babylax- I watched the baby experience it! Just to clarify!
textiletHey Kate! Glad to see you here!
dandegarmoI'll be in Covington, GA for this coming week. Would love to see you guys!
dshHi Kate, it's Donna Hardin. I just happened upon your blog. Hope all is going well with you. We are in Plainfield, IN. Have been here for over 13 years.

I really can't believe how OLD we're getting!! I told Steve this afternoon when we were walking across a restaurant parking lot that I was walking like an old woman. I had a crick in my ankle that wouldn't go away! :)

We have our fifth grandchild on the way. I guess without a doubt, WE ARE AGING.
textiletIt's Tina Kercher, sorry I didn't introduce myself.
aletaHello, Kate. I came across your name on Donna's blog. Gathering bits and pieces, I see that you and Joel are in Atlanta and I can see that you have a beautiful granddaughter.

Since seeing y'all at the reunion in '05, Gene and I have moved to Rosenberg SW of Houston. And both my kids have moved to TX with their spouses. No grandkids yet! Good to see you on here!
jeansHi! Check out my last post! Yikes! We still don't have internet. It has become a huge deal. They want so many different documents it is a real pain. and they wouldn't accept a lot of what we had. So we are trying over on Monday. The really picky company is the one we want because it could save us $100. We are getting a dining table and a barbie from some people from church and so I feel like things are coming together. I have been holding off on buying much because I'm not sure what else we need. I'll have to break down and buy some pots and pans though. They are so expensive! Even at walmart! There is a store going out of business I'm going to check it out. Says everything is 50% off.
jeansHave I told you about late night shopping? I think this is funny! All the stores close here around 5 or 6. And most are closed on Sundays. But on thursday watch out it's late nite shopping anbd stores are opened till...8! Isn't that so funny! I like it though. You just have to plan a little better and keep your pantry stocked!
aletaHi, Kate. No, I'm not employed, though I stay busy with Gene's employment as a preacher! You'll have to stop back by and see pictures of my kids on my 3/7/08 post.
loualiceHey Kate. I just learned how to get on this thing. I could totally relate to the eye glass thing...I was in denial for awhile, but decided to give in when necessary. Mike and I have 4 grandchildren now and are loving every minute. Holly and Adam live in Ala. and Heather and husband Nick are here in Florida. Please write when you get a chance.....loualice
kcwilsfordLOU!! I'm so excited to hear from you!!! Hurry and get your blog up and running so we can "chat"!!!
loualiceHey again!!! I was so excited to get a message to you. I am getting instructions from Holly to see what I need to do to get on board. Any plans to come to Florida ?

Hello Friends! 06-19-07 05:06pm EST

ncreavesWelcome aboard! Have Anna and Jeanie and Emily signed up yet?
serenaHI! Oh, you'll think this is fun too! And yes Music Garden is similar to what we do. We do more singing less CD's. Our philosophy is that mommy is your favorite thing to hear!! I hope she likes it.

edThanks for the thoughts Kate! It's been hard for our parents as well. Especially, Melaine's mom. As I continue to pray for Al and Jeannie's situation, I'll pray for y'all as well. Thank you for raising three of the most amazing girls I've ever met!
jeansHey mom! I hope you are having fun in the mountains! I'm sure y'all have gotten lost several times by now!
