A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself
and doesn't feel even the least bit weird shutting your
'Coke drawer' with her foot!
A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friends shoulder is soggy from your tears..
A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first
names.
A real friend has their phone numbers
in his address book.
A simple friend brings a two liter coke to your
party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and
stays late to help you clean.
A simple friend hates it when you call after
they've gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to
call.
A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your
problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.
A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when
you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.
A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!
'Never frown, even when you are sad,
because you never know who is
falling in love with your smile.
She was staring out the window of their SUV
Complaining, saying "I can't wait to turn 18"
She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules"
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you"
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down"
Cause you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
And she keeps apologizin'
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.
Huh, it's hard to believe, but...
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this!
Houston, Tx. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We boarded up our windows, so hopefully if the wind gets too strong our windows will be protected.
Twenty-six years ago on July 19, 1982 at 1:40 pm, God blessed us with a handsome baby boy. He has been the light of our lives. We cannot imagine our lives without him.
For You, Son!
"He achieves success who lives well,
laughs often, and loves much...
who leaves the world better
than he finds it...
who always looks for
the best in others
and gives them
the best he has."
All of your life, we've been proud and impressed
with the effort you put into doing your best.
And with every year, there just seems to be more
to appreciate, love, and admire you for.
Happy Birthday, Jonathan!
We Love You!
