I normally don't forward or post mumbo jumbo like this, but this one really cracked me up. It's so true.
1) the front of your scrubs reads 'Nurses... here to save your butt, not kiss it!'
2) you occasionally park in the space with the 'physicians only' sign... and knock it over.
3) you believe some patients are alive only because it's illegal to kill them.
4) you've had to leave a patient's room before you begin to laugh uncontrollably.
5) you own at least three pens with the names of prescription medications on them.
6) you believe there's a special place in hell for the inventor of the call light.
7) you believe that saying 'It can't get any worse' causes it to get worse just to show you it can.
8) you wash your hands BEFORE you go to the bathroom.
9) you believe that any job where you can drive to work in your pajamas is a cool one.
10) you consider a tongue depressor an eating utensil.
11) eating microwave popcorn out of a clean bedpan is perfectly natural.
12) you've been exposed to so many x-rays that you consider it a form of birth control.
13) you've ever heard a patient with a nose ring, a brow ring, and twelve earrings say 'I'm afraid of shots.'
14) you've ever placed a bet on someone's blood alcohol level.
15) you've told a confused patient that your name is that of a coworker and to call if they need help.
16) your bladder can expand to the size of a winnebago's water tank.
17) you have ever had a patient look you straight in the eye and say 'I have no idea how that got stuck in there.'
18) you believe that not all patients are annoying...some are unconscious.
19) your family and friends refuse to watch medical sitcoms with you because you spend the whole time correcting everyone and pointing out upside down x-rays.
20) you don't get excited about blood, unless it's your own.
21) you've sworn to have 'Do Not Resuscitate' tattooed on your chest. Soon.
22) discussing feces and dismemberment over a gourmet meal is perfectly normal to you.
23) your idea of fine dining is anywhere you can sit down to eat.
24) your idea of a good time is a cardiac arrest at shift change.
25) you believe in the aerial spraying of prozac.
26) you believe that 'shallow gene pool' should be a recognized diagnosis.
27) you believe that unspeakable evils will befall anyone who utters the phrase 'Wow, it's really quiet, isn't it?'
I know nobody worked in the ER with me (except Cecile, but yes...we did in fact place bets on patients' blood alcohol levels.
These were good! I can relate especially to number 22. Mark and I would go pick up dinner, then head to the anatomy lab. While he plowed around in his personal cadaver, we would eat our food, and I would read to him the 'parts' he was trying to locate! Good times!
I lol-ed at the ripping out of my endoCREEENsystem! And yes, bets were indeed taken on patients' blood alcohol levels, as well as some serious making fun of the drunk patients which may or may not have involved putting a cowboy hat on them sometimes...
that is so Ryan! He likes working in the ICU. He says he doesn't want a patient that is conscious. Be sure and ask us about travelling when you start to do it. Ryan is finding out there are better companies than the one he is with. We don't know a whole lot about it yet since he just started, but there are a lot of travelers at this hospital so he has been talking to them.
Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
Greater love has no man than this, than he lays down his life for his friends.
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
"Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"
If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up.
Before we cut friends out of our lives we should see what God thinks about it. Often times when a friend hurts or disappoints us it is the time when they need us the most. We should remember that we, too, have caused pain to others. Think of what we have done to Jesus and still he calls us friend. We truly do need each other, maybe more than we think.
Lots of truth in what you said about when a friend hurts us...I've been there, and it's been hard to see beyond my own hurt feelings to my friend's need.
ryan has only had one and a half days of work with the travel agency, though. I guess I can't really say if it's good or not yet. But I like the apartment they put us up in!
So...I'm thinking of getting a new cell phone. Right now I have my old ghetto phone with Sprint. I was thinking of going with Tmobile because they have that top 5 thing, but I'm open to anything. Does anyone know if Tmobile has good reception? I looked up reviews on the internet, but of course they're all mixed. Pretty much, what I need are the pros and cons from some reliable people...so go ahead and sell me on a cell phone provider.
AT&T.... cause everyone and their mom has it and they have free mobile to mobile... and then you can call me for free :)
I dunno... I've had AT&T for year and I like them.... the best thing i like about them is you can change you minutes of text massages or whatever in the middle of you contract and they don't charge you or extend your contract.... but I'm biased cause AT&T is the only thing I can have my iPhone on anyway.... I dunno how AT&T service is in Gainsville though....
i've heard different things about different carriers. mostly i've noticed that verizon, sprint, t-mobile tend to be area specific sometimes. for example, in bowling green there is only an at&t and t-mobile store(s). i've also noticied that at&t seems to have the least problems with dropping calls and plan issues. aimee is right about making minutes/texting changes. plus you get an upgrade once a year or every 2 years. they also have a large selection of phones in the bigger stores. you should be okay with any carrier in gainesville. but i would suggest at&t.
I have at&t and have been very happy with the reception/service. i know you've been so busy lately with school and work, but I've missed your face! Hope you are having a good day!
Well I'm just sticking with Sprint but you know how Sprint is...sometimes it depends what brand of phone you have to get better service. Sprint lets you change your plan as well.
I have been on Verizon the whole way through and have had nothing but great service. I have a Blackberry Pearl phone and love it. When you buy the data plan, you can go online and get your email plus you can do Blackberry Messenger for free. Love it!
I have Alltel, and I love them. I loved att before they merged with cingular. They really went down after that. More price and not enough phone lines so when you'd try to call the ATT customer and get an error message. I don't know if they got fixed but I have alltel and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Great reception everywhere I have gone, especially everywhere in FL, and to the random places I have gone across the country too. There are very very few dead spots, and they are very small.
I have alltel too. They have the cirle of friends thing, and you can talk to anyone who has alltel for free. I get reception just about everywhere except for target, but who does get reception at target.
Out here in the boonies, we have not found in service that gets good reception at our house...........oh, that's not what you wanted to know...........oh well :)
Hey girlfriend. How are you? I miss you too. You need to call me sometime when you have like absolutely nothing to do. You know, the time when you are sitting at a red light or when you are are trying to decide what to eat. I would love to talk with you and see what is going on with you in your life.
I talked it over with Molly and she thinks it would be weird for you to call me by her name. She also wants you to stop writing her letters- you can NOT have a lock of her hair! Get over it :)
I'm here laying on the couch at midnight, watching an Oprah dvd (which I tried to resist crying at, but alas, no note). And now Barbara Striesand is on, which must be a clear sign that I'm tired. She's trying to get me to put in the movie! I just learned from this dvd that Tom Hanks is related to Abraham Lincoln and that it's best to juggle with oranges.
While I love the grandeur and spectacle of most concerts I go to, there is something to be said of standing in front of a crowd of thousands armed with nothing but raw talent and a spotlight. And though I loathe the term "cool cat," I can think of nothing better to describe him. Nothing extra was needed. I was captivated the entire time. Even the songs I didn't know felt like old favorites. If I was not a true fan before, I have become one now. I truly was in the presence of greatness...a legend...Tom Petty.
can i just say that I'm kinda cracking up over the fact that it took the talents of Tom Petty himself to inspire you enough to actually write a new post...
Cool Cat. Yeah, I tried it and don't like it either. But Tom Petty is definitely one cool guy. I enjoy his live performances immensely. Glad you enjoyed the show!
So when I was home for Mother's Day this weekend, my Nana and I got to talking about our geneology. I don't have any hardcore proof of this, but if my Nana is telling the truth (which she usually does), through her line, I am a direct descendant of the infamous Jesse James. I still have relatives today, that I know, with the last name James. Seems he was a wonderful fellow. You can educate yourself and read about him. Pay special attention to the part where he marries his first cousin...making me inbred.
And, over the years, some retards decided they couldn't spell our name so our name got changed from Halsey to Hulsey. This also makes me related to Admiral Bull Halsey. He was a nice man. His...um...love for the Japanese would fit right in with that side of the family. He even kind of looks like us.
So move over Shakespeare...there's a new outlaw in town.
For some reason "Halsey" makes me crack up. I think it's way funnier than "Hulsey". So...it's probably better that it's Hulsey. They must have been recent "retards" because Bull Halsey lived until 1959.
We must be related then. We are able to trace lines through my Dad's mom's side to Mr. James. I always knew we were related somehow...so nice to get in touch with your roots. :)
