Today I waited an hour to vote - which I do not think was too bad. It will be a very historic day in my lifetime. While most of us are very sick of the political hoopla by now. I am very thankful to live in America where we have a choice - where people of different color/ethnicities and genders can run for elections and have a say/vote. Whether the candidates we want to get it do or not, we have a lot to be thankful for. Happy voting today.
I woke up at 4...was at the polling place to work at 5 and worked walked to my car at 7:40. We took in 148 voters in the 1st 30 minutes of our precinct...we had about 75-80% voter turnout in our little rural precinct. It was a previlege to work the election and the 2 ladies that have done it for years retired...this was their last election to work...I believe they are in their 60's. Of course both have known each other most of their adult lives and are on opposite political ends, but respect each other immensely. It was a pleasure to work with/for them and learn under them. Platte county elections rock! God bless America.
So Matthias's goal in life is to be an author like Theodor Seuss Geisel aka Dr.Seuss. So he is working on his first creation Green Potatoes and Quiche. It is obviously a total take off on Green Eggs & Ham. He is so excited about it. After Bible Class last night, he came home and started working on it. He has not finished it yet and I honestly do not know how late he stayed up working on it last night. (I know bad mom) I'm seriously thinking about getting it bound in book form. He and Sterling really need to hook up on this, as Sterling has a more developed imagination and Matthias can draw most anything. It is so fun to see kids get so excited about projects.
If you do decide to get it "published," check out lulu.com. I think I'm having my calendar made there this year and they do books as well. Not sure how the price would be, but you could definitely order multiple copies very easily. (Good holiday gifts!)
OK I dislike this tagging game. However, I will be a good sport and play along
1. I am a sports fanatic.
2. I am the baby of three girls and most people would say I live up to that quite well. It didn't help that my closest sibling is 10 years older than me and I was an only child for much of my childhood.
3. I have 3 kids all in middle school 6th, 7th, & 8th grade - a girl and two boys - both boys have autism.
4. I am a Big 12 fan with MIZZOU being my favorite. (Don't puke again Beck)
5. I don't like baseball. It is BORING!!!
6. I have always loved muscle cars with Mustangs being my favorite.
7. I did not graduate from college until I was 34 yrs old, but am thankful I did.
8. I have been going to Colorado almost every year on vacation since I was 10 years old.
Yeah, I knew about the bonfire and pre-teen study but didn't think we could manage to fit everything in. Maybe if we weren't 2 hours away.....anyway, I got approval today to be off work on November 6 and 7 so I need to let Lisa know I am in for the retreat! I am sorry you won't be there but it will be good to see Jeri.
This is my favorite season of the year. Football is in full swing with Big 12 conference play starting this weekend. GO MIZZOU!!!!!!!!! Maria's volleyball team is 4-3. Our fall meeting is next week with Jeff Young. Looking forward to that. He was at FC when I was many moons ago. The congregation that Vic use to attend presented a bible to the kids in memory of their father along with bookmarks for each of them. It was very nice and touching. Their grandmother turns 81 this weekend - so we are attending a birthday party for her. School continues to roll along good for the kids. Sterling is doing better and the teachers are starting to understand him better. Hope all is going well with everyone.
Hey Jen! No I won't be at that tournament this year. I had it last year but this year I have a 9th, 2 JVs and a Varsity tournament left for the year. 4 down 4 to go. Mom said she got to watch Maria play the other day and Morgan too. We are hoping to come up to the meeting Friday. I have ladies bible study on Monday, games on Tuesday and Thursday so Friday is my only option. I don't know yet if Ryan will try to come some other nights too. Have fun at the birthday party. Btw, someone threw up in the corner of your page! Sorry about that!
Glad things are going well. It was great to see you last week even though it was only briefly. Are you going to ladies retreat this year? I found out the dates and it looks promising that I might be able to make it this year and I am very excited.
The new school year is off to a good start. Maria's volleyball team is 2-0 and she is really enjoying it. School wise Maria & Matthias are both doing very well. Sterling well - I think we are going to already have to have an IEP meeting just 3 weeks into school. He is really struggling and the teachers are really struggling with him as to how to get through to him and get him to be productive. Sometime's I just wish their was magical answers. While life is very busy, it is nice to be back into a routine. I'm looking forward to a ladies night out at the Plaza Art Fair this weekend. Hope all is going well with everyone.
the game was so much fun! It was my first college football game and I loved it. I wore green but cheered for Kansas on the inside, and sometimes accidentally on the outside! I really wish we would have won but I was happy for USF that they pulled it off. Some of my friends were actually on TV, they were sitting on the front row of one of the student sections and they got quite a bit of camera time!
Is Maria on the A team or B team this year? I asked mom and she wasn't sure but she was going to go to the game when they played Newmark. Have a good ladies night this weekend. Hope they figure something out for Sterling. Don't you wish they came with little instructions attached to them!?
Well that is really exciting for her! I'm glad she's having fun and they are doing well! We have a girl at church who is on the B team at Ray-Pec and they have enough for 2 teams on B team. One of the teams plays club ball together. She plays with the other group.
