"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him" (1 John 5:14-15)
Praise the Lord! I just completed my first day of teaching Kindergarten and God heard my every prayer.
I'm so glad it went well!! Thanks again for coming to camp - I know your life is pretty busy with job & wedding preperation. I miss seeing your smiling face!
I'm so glad. Sorry I bailed on ya'll the other night. I didn't know Michelle & Jason were coming in. You know I can't resist those guys! Hope ya'll had a blast.
i'm home for a little while and lovin the free movie channels. oh the digital cable with tv guardian bliss! dad and i watched a movie last night called "once" that absolutely floored me. it was by far the best movie i've seen in a long time. real musicians playing struggling musicians, and the music was awesome. the movie won best original song at the oscars, so apparently i've been living under a rock. BUT, i figure if i've been living under a rock, maybe some of you have been under there with me. so i'm posting this video showing clips of the movie with glen hansard and marketa irglova's oscar-award winning song "falling slowly." enjoy!
on another note, i'm trying to wrap up wedding stuff before school starts. it's a little stressful, but a lot of fun. dad and i are working on a slideshow. here's a sneak peak:
SO CUTE!!!! i love it. and yes, dr. goldfarb not only has an awesome name, but he's amazing for the self esteem. right before they put me under, he said well hello there adorable. where gonna get this done and over with and you'll continue looking gorgeous when we're done
LOVE HIM.
kar, i decided to check this old thing @ work today when i was...not wanting to work (shh) and those pics are CUTE! you are cute. oh hey, and i loooooooooooooooooooooooooved that movie. and have the album. love it. that's why we're friends. miss you.
When I left you that comment below, I didn't even realize you had a new post. Glad you're back on pleo!
So, you're engaged?! Congratulations! How long y'all been together? Were you dating before camp last year or did you start afterwards? Very good pics of y'all, btw.
And about those knock-knock jokes, boy do I know what you mean. Our 3 will get going and make up those jokes that make no sense whatsoever and they just laugh and laugh. It's annoying to us, but we just let them have their fun.
i love coming back to pleo after almost a year, writing a big entry, running out of time and in the process of logging back in, losing everything written. ugh.
anyway, i had trouble deciding what to title my severely neglected blog after all this time. i went with the punch line to my first graders' favorite made-up knock-knock joke. the made-up knock-knock joke phase of a kid's life is the happiest for them, and the most torturous for all who are around them. most of the time anyway. i must enjoy the torture a little, or else i wouldn't be teaching.
the past year has been delightfully fun and wonderfully silly, much like a child's made-up knock-knock joke (see, i tied it all together!). within just a season, i got a niece, a career, and a ring! my cup overflows.
i've also moved for the fourth time since living in bowling green. i'm living in a fancy loft apartment. i say "fancy" because it's not. in fact, as i sit in the living/laundry room typing this, i can hear my neighbor singing in the shower (look out nashville!). this will be mine and justin's first "nest," as we save money, waiting to see where we'll be next. my life feels very much like that country song, "you're gonna miss this" about the girl who is always looking past her present. knowing this, i'm trying to enjoy every minute of no dishwasher and a living/laundry room, days full of made-up knock-knock jokes and sticky hands, and every precious hour i get to spend with my niece (who currently has my eyes!) and my family every several weeks. because, when it changes in the next few years, or next few minutes, i will miss it, i will want it back, and i will wonder how it went by so fast. and how i got so cheesy and sentimental. wow.
well, conan's on, so i'm out. it's good to be back! :)
You're alive? Wow...it's only been almost a year since your last post!
Nope, can't come to camp this year. Would love to, but being in Houston makes it tough. Probably won't be able to next year either since it will be during the time we'll be looking for a church to work with, but we'll see.
I'll miss you and everybody else. At least I won't have to wear your skirt...
I love what you wrote about missing things! Great thoughts!! I feel the same way - that must be one of the reasons we are such good friends!! :) Great minds think alike!!
Wow... it's been a whole YEAR! How funny that the last post was about the Wii party that didn't quite seem to happen...
It has been a wonderful year for you, hasn't it? Such great things going on for you! And, I must say, it has been a pleasure reading your long awaited post. I do miss your humor so much!
Who: Karen Craig and Richard & Charity Fontenot, and you! ("you" is plural- it won't just be the four of us, although I'm sure that would be fun)
Where: at the home of Richard and Charity Fontenot
When: whenever we get enough Coke Rewards Points(R) to get a Nintendo Wii(R)
How: this is where you come in!
What am I talking about: Through the combined efforts of friends and family (thanks to all), by way of email, text message, trash diving, and stranger harassing, Richard, my Dad, and I have successfully managed to collect about 2500 Coke Reward Points(R). At first, our goals for these points were small. But now we have set our sights bigger: by early November, with help, we hope to have 6000 points, enough to earn us a joint-custody of a Nintendo Wii(R).
How this involves you: If you are a Coke product drinker, and are apathetic to Coke Points, but sympathetic to our cause, please give us your codes from those 20 oz./2 L caps, or those tear offs to 12 or 24 can packs!
How you can get them to us:
text
email
pleo
facebook
mail
hand them to us
send an owl*-
we don't care! We just need them (Ok, don't need, but want very badly)!
But, wait: Are you doing this out of the goodness of your heart? Of course- but not without a little something in return. One Coke Rewards Points code will earn you an invite to one Nintendo Wii(R) party at the Fontenot home. Imagine a party full of people dedicated to a Coke Rewards cause, gaming the night away on a Wii! What could be more fun? And you can be a part of this.
Out of state or country?: Don't think you're not welcome or needed because you are! And all who participate, but are unable to join us, will be rightfully recognized.
Don't like Coke products?: No problem! Donate your pocket change to the cause (and we can buy some off of Ebay) and you're invited!
Sounds great, right? Hope to hear from you soon and can't wait to party with you!
*In honor of the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! My predictions: Aunt Petunia is a witch; Mrs. Weasley's tiara is a horcrux, as is Harry; Kreacher has the locket; R.A.B. is alive, as is Dumbledore (I don't care what Rowling says!); Snape is good and Harry will live! I am a Harry Potter Pollyanna.
MICHAEL J set up my hair appointment FOR ME (with our cousin Elizabeth) -- and yes, he said it was ok to throw a grilled cheese party -- Bc you know how much he loves some grilled cheese, yum yum.
We actually do have some copies in English at the bookstore, but it's so expensive. So, we're trying to be patient and wait 'til we get home. Have you had time to read it, yet?
You crack me up Karen! Hope you're having a great summer. Thanks so much for your sweet card- it meant a lot to me! Good luck this semester! It's ALMOST OVER! And please do call me anytime! :)
Just wandered into your blog and very curious about the advantages of coke reward points, being an addict myself! Do tell! Can we get free stuff or what?
Hi Karen! This is Mary H. Just found you and wanted to say hey!! I believe you babysat for the family of a little girl in my 4 year old class.: Tinya Wetzel is the mom.
i believe i am overdue for a post. i am supposed to be studying for the PRAXIS, so updating suddenly seemed like a good idea. any suggestions for taking the PRAXIS, while we're on the subject?
so how are you?
i'm busy, but good. my favorite brother and expecting sister-in-law took justin and me to kissimmee for a few days. it was good time full of sushi, disney, sunburns, discussions about babies!, raquet ball (i dominated), and nacho libre. thanksagain!
justin and i also went to see pirates 3. it was a strange movie that i'm going to admit i don't think i liked. it might have been because i was asked to throw away the diet coke that i had brought in my purse by an overachieving rent-a-cop. it was pretty embarrassing. especially when justin, covered in the fun dip i also brought in my purse for him, shook his fun dip stick at me and yelled, "yeah, get that riff-raff outta here!" as if he didn't know me. unbelievable. he ended up looking like a loser though. the guy next to him had real dip, which he eloquently spit into a cup during the movie. all justin had was his sissy fun dip. so there.
i'm working my regular schedule again, which i am thankful for. however, today was my second day back to normal and i got admonished (and not the gentle, scriptural way) for something completely ridiculous. it made me pretty mad. i really want to be one of those people who let things just roll off their backs, but i don't think i am by nature. so i tried to keep my chin up. and then, Melissa surprised me with a homemade Schrute-buck and Stanley-nickel! That made everything better. Thanks, Mel.
i've been watching the second season of the mary tyler moore show. mary just amazes me. she is so perfect at almost everything, and what she's not perfect at makes her all the more adorable. plus she looks like all the barbie dolls my cousins had when we were little. i don't know if i love her or hate her. but i can't stop watching the show, so my guess is that i love her. you should rent some seasons. they have them at the library for free.
off to study now... or find something to do in the place of studying. come on, it's summertime. have a good one!
p.s. if someone has some new music recommendations, i would love to hear them. i haven't really been impressed by anything new lately. probably because we listen to the top 10 over and over and over at work. just let me know. i like a little of everything.
Kings of Leon...good band. Song called "Be there" or something like that. I had fun in Orlando too...and if you lose my "Nacho" dvd, I will hunt you down like a rabid dog (or just buy a new one).
secondhand serenade...
dashboards newest CD is AMAZING...
fall out boys new CD is INCREDIBLE...
bryan greenberg...
(I'll think of more...I'm obsessed with music)
which praxis are you taking? i had to take two different ones but they were focused on elmentary ed so don't know if i can help or not. . . :) new music: John Butler Trio, Bright Eyes, Powder Finger, Keane, the Shins. . . those are pretty good
karen, i miss you. i laughed out loud at the "sissy fun dip" story. good luck on the praxis. and when you're bored, go to www.purevolume.com/meesedenver and click audiobody.
So, is it a sign that we're having a girl, or jsut that Caroline is the right name choice for us? :)
Karen, I wouldn't worry too much about studying for the PRAXIS. I didn't study for any of them and I passed them all the first time. You're much smarter than me, so if I can do it, so can you! :)
Let me just say, I witnessed the "admonishing" and I think that was a bit of an understatement! More like treated you like a child! Ridiculous. Not much longer, Karen. Not much longer...
thought of some more....
Paramore, Frou Frou, Seven Mary Three, Say Anything, Flyleaf, The Strokes, 30 Seconds To Mars, Jack's Mannequin, Nada Surf, Taylor Swift...
I dunno if you'll like half that stuff, but there ya have it.
Who can turn the world on with her smile? Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile? Well, It's you girl, and you should know it. With each glance and every little movement you show it!
I briefly checked out facebook but didn't think I'd use it. I "poked" you (that sounds terrible) but then deactivated my account, which is probably why you couldn't write me back. Do you use that much more often than pleo?
Karen! Hey! Its Cathy! I dont remember if I got to see you before you left Friday but just wanted to say that we (Arete) won and we were all cheering for you! lol Miss you already!
Do you remember playing Barbies in the driveway - we had a Barbie pool and jacuzzi. We were blowdrying the Barbie's hair when your mom came in all worried that you'd electrocute yourself (even though Julie who had to have been at least 17 was operating the hairdryer). :)
