Kicking it old-school 11-20-08 10:51pm CST
When I was at Florida College, me and my roommate had an old-school Nintendo. We played Mario 1 and 3 until the wee hours of the morning and it was awesome! For the past few years, I have been wanting to buy one for myself. Well, now that I am out of school and have a steady income, I can spend money on mindless items such as this. I purchased a Nintendo DS on Ebay last week that is fully restored, complete with Mario 1, Mario 3, Duck Hunt, 2 controllers, and a gun. I have been playing Mario 3 all week and I have to say that it is just as awesome as I remembered it. I feel like an 8 year old all over again!

To go along with the 80's vibe I have been feeling lately, I started downloading some old music from that era, mainly Michael Jackson. The guy may be a total freak now, but he really was the King of Pop in his day. His songs really are timeless. "Man in the Mirror" is one of my favorites. Anyway, if anyone has any favorites from the 80's (games, movies, or songs), post them. I am feeling nostalgic!
natethegreatIt doesn't get much better than listening to "Black or White" does it?
justjoeyA trick me and my brothers found on duck hunt is that you can plug the controller into the second slot and use it to control where the duck flies.
justjoeyI was also a really big fan of He-Man in that day. And the nintendo game 'Contra'.
spimmanThe Nintendo Wii allows you to download oldschool games and even buy a "Classic Controller"

Fun stuff
allyhaha i remember when you and tracy used to play that all the time..fun times! those games are the best.

What is worse, ignorance or apathy? 11-05-08 11:51am CST
Well, I don't know and I don't care.

I have come to realize that I have a love/hate relationship with the subject of politics. Yes, it is interesting to argue about and discuss with others. It is also important when considering the future of America, and our children's children. However, after watching all the news about the election, I am flat out sick of it. For Obama to win the election, his campaign had to focus on all the negatives of Bush's presidency, which was done flawlessly. I have heard about unemployment, the horrible economy, Hurricane Katrina, and the Iraq War so much that watching the news is more of a means of becoming depressed that gathering information. At this point, I would rather just not know about some of the atrocities in the world than have to watch it repeatedly on TV.

I have found myself recently wanting to blame some of my problems on the economy and the government, which is what we are being trained to believe by our current society. I have also found myself getting angry at other Christians who may disagree with my own political viewpoints. I have seen some people become extremely upset because the results of the election didn't go their way, some for the right reasons and some for the wrong reasons. For me, dwelling on politics has almost become the part of the vanity that Solomon spoke of.

I know that God is in control of everything and has been since the beginning of time. I am only human and may never completely understand God's ultimate plan, but I do trust it. I will pray that Obama will make the correct decisions America that will lead us in the right direction, and hopefully God will continue to bless America. If not, God is and always will be in control anyway.
maxsoraGreat insights! Thanks for sharing. How's life in Auburn?

I have a theory.... 09-28-08 04:14pm CST
that Auburn's entire coaching staff is secretly plotting ways in which to frustrate the fans to the point of utter insanity and frustration.

For those who believe I am a conspiracy theorist, I think not.

Yep, Chris Todd is getting the start against Vandy.
spimmanI don't get Franklin
rica5219are you serious!?!? I'm going to the Vandy game and I'm totally making a sign for Kodi. He is WAY better than Todd.
maucknotI too believe Kodi should not only start but be given a chance to play the entire game even if he would happen to throw 3 interceptions.
mrsnerdleyKodi actually looked pretty impressive when he was brought in the game in Saturday. Todd is a joke & Auburn's season will spiral out of control if they do not start Kodi from now on.

I have a twin... 09-09-08 06:56pm CST
or two, or three, or four.

Everytime I go to work in a different city, I either get told I look like, talk like, or act like EXACTLY like someone somebody else knows. It never fails! Everytime, I get asked numerous times if I'm related to a certain person or if I went to high school with them. This is especially weird to me, because I personally can't think of any other person who I think looks like me. I don't even strikingly resemble members of my own family!

But the strangeness doesn't stop there...apparently this also applies to celebrities. I used to get told when I waited tables that I look like the actress Jennifer Connelly. This is a huge compliment of course, but I truthfully don't see the resemblance. My good friend Ben recently told me that I look like Kate Beckinsale. LOL...I wish!!!! Now I really don't see that resemblance. Yesterday, 4 people told me I looked like Audrina from "The Hills". This is double weird since these 3 actresses don't really look anything like each other.

I know this is a totally random post, but the possibility that there are several people out there that look JUST like me is intriguing. I want to meet these people so I can judge for myself!
maucknotNope, never met anyone that looks like you. Now, do you feel better?
pharmgirlIt must just be the dark hair??
wordwielderHmmm. Now I'll have to be on the lookout for Fallon look-alikes.

More exciting news... 05-11-08 09:52pm CST
For those of you that don't already know, Brad and I are moving back to Auburn!!! We will defninitely miss certain things about Mobile (e.g. Thai food, Felix's), but there really isn't anything better than being close to family. It seems like just yesterday I was posting about how much I was going to miss my friends, family, church, and everything else that is wonderful about Auburn. It is truly amazing how when one door closes (or slams in your face), God opens up another door that is so much better than anything you could have imagined. And even better, we are moving just in time for football season!

Last Tuesday, I graduated with my Doctor of Pharmacy. It was one of those moments that I have visualized a thousand times. Actually, I really don't feel that different. I don't think it will really hit me until after I take the pharmacy boards and get my license. I had an awesome graduation party, and got the pink and black cake and petit fours (sp?) that I had been longing for. Maybe one day I will get around to posting some pictures.

Finally, I bought myself a graduation present! Some women like expensive jewelry, others like trips, but my splurge of choice is cute designer dresses. This mother-of-all splurges comes in the form of a gorgeous and modest L.A.M.B. (the Gwen Stefani brand) dress that I have been coveting ever since I saw Reese Witherspoon wearing it on the Idol Gives Back show. It should be arriving here any day now in a nice package from Saks Fifth Avenue. Normally, I would feel materialistic about this, but I just finished 7 years of school! So I deserve it. :)

Speaking of clothes, I was told by a girl at church tonight that she would like to pay me to shop for her. I take that as the highest compliment!
rica5219Yay for you guys moving back!! :)

and oh my goodness I love Felix's!!!! We went there for Lacey's birthday a couple of years ago! It was delicious!!!
rica5219(and I have to say that you have awesome taste in clothing so I agree with the girl from church!)
spimmanI knew it was a possibility, but I hadn't heard it was official...that's awesome, now I need to call Brad!
creatineCongrats on graduating! What an accomplishment!
