I had a wonderful visit with some of my family this weekend. My younger brother--Billy, his wife--Carole and their kids Lillian & Jack came for a visit on Thursday. They left just after church this morning. To keep the kids busy and having fun, we had "Aunt Brenda's Summer Camp". We did lots of fun things, played outside and inside, and even went to the movies. It was a lot of fun. Patrick and Billy even got to go play a round of golf with some men from church. Unfortunately, summer is coming to an end and we will be back in school in 2 weeks. Lots of preparations for band meals, ordering supplies for the school store at the middle school, helping with highschool PTSA membership, finding teachers for next quarter's Bible classes at church, and the list goes on and on and on and on . . .
Here's about 10 or 12 pictures from our weekend. ENJOY!
I got back Friday night, worked Saturday and went to Birmingham yesterday to visit my mom. I got back about 7:30 last night. Thanks for checking on me!
Got tired of seeing all the pictures, so I'm changing my blog. Here are some things going on at our house this week.
*John started band camp--3 weeks of extreme heat!
*Jared got his cast off only to discover he needed it for 2 more weeks!
*My brother's family is coming to visit. (YIPEE) Courtlyn and I are planning "Aunt Brenda's Summer Camp" for Lily & Jack--the young cousins/neice & nephew.
*I'm busy everyday helping organize meals for the kids at band camp. Hopefully I can clean my house at some point!
It's been so busy since we got back from vacation, that I've not had any time to post pictures. If you saw Patrick's blog, then you had a chance to see some of the fun places we visited. I thought I would show you some of the real pictures from our vacation! Sorry in advance that there are so many, but I had a hard time choosing which ones to share!
Notice the SIGN, then notice the FACES!
Patrick eating dinner at the Mt. Vernon Inn
This is how John looked most of the trip!
Notice Jared's eyes--He also looked like this a lot of the trip!
Who said we didn't evolve from animals???
How we really felt most of the time.
The CONE-HEADS have returned!
No explanation necessary!
There are tons more, but I'll spare you. On another note, we had 230 in attendance at our VBS tonight!! WOW--It was awesome!
I'm torn between that and VBS. I love the Lilburn kids, but I've waited all year for VBS (I'm like a little kid, I get so excited). I will have to talk to my parents, of course, but I have a feeling the idea will be vetoed.
I love love love to go ! My mo says yes and has to run it by my dad, but I think I'll be able to go. You almost spelled it right. It's Gaby. And tried to talk Angel into staying but Caley wants her to go and she already said yes and she has camp friends/boyfriends/whatevs she wants to see.
So, how does the new lead singer compare to Steve Perry? I guess I'm just an old school Journey fanatic. I knew they had a good new guy but I've never felt I could listen to him without feeling guilty. I don't know how I would ever be able to face Steve after that...oh, wait... ;)
I really don't think I will make it for a night out after all. Monday is turning out to be a super busy day already and we leave early Tuesday morning to go to FL. I will probably be packing Sunday afternoon and evening. We'll pick a day very soon!
Sadly, that was about an hour before the wedding started! It was so hot out there and we had been there a couple of hours at that point taking pictures.
We are leaving tomorrow for vacation. YIPEEEEEEEEE!! I've so been looking forward to this trip. I visited many of the places we're going when I was a kid so it will be fun to see them again with mine. Below are some of the sites we'll be seeing on this trip, including a Richmond Braves game on the 4th of July. We will return on July 5 just in time to get to working on VBS!
Also, thanks to all who were concerned about Jared. He is doing fine. We went to the doctor yesterday and his elbow is fractured in 2 places--at the tip, and just above it. He will be in a full arm cast for 4 weeks. His cast is red at the top arm and blue at the forearm--Atlanta Braves colors! We're so thankful he wasn't hurt worse.
Check our blogs over the next 11 days. I'm sure Patrick or I will post some pictures of our VACATION.
We were VERY happy with finishing 7th in this contest. The judging panel was a little tougher and everyone was scoring a little lower across the board. Plus, the level of competition keeps getting higher and higher and higher each year.
Yeah, I know quite a few Christians in real estate and even auctions, and several in construction. (the construction part is for the back porch which used to be screened in, but then we were going to make it a sunroom, and that project got abandoned along with me and the kids, so I don't see that happening. I wish someone would come and fix it for me and then when I sell it or whatever, let me pay them, b/c I sure couldn't do that right now. I'm still thinking of options, and haven't really talked to anyone about what to do, until I posted it today on here.
Yeah, we're bluegrass people too. It seems that the boys are getting into it as well. Bought a CD of the group we listened to on the street in Gatlinburg. Levi has been wanting to listen to the "Bear Tracks" song over and over again ever since.
Yes, this post is about Jared---again. He went to a boy scout camp last week in Altamont, TN (about 1-1/2 hours NW of Chattanooga). On Tuesday we received a call that Jared had to go to the dr. because of a sore throat. He toughed it out and stayed. No worries. However, we received another call from the scout master yesterday afternoon at about 2:00. Apparently, Jared had fallen 10-12 feet off of a ladder at the climbing tower and was being transported by ambulance to the ER in Manchester, TN. Patrick and I got ready ASAP, assuming we might have to stay overnight, and left for the hospital. On the way we got a call that nothing serious was wrong (Thank the Lord). He probably has a hairline fracture of his right elbow, and he is terribly sore today. I'm terribly tired. We did not get home until 2:00 this morning. We let him stay until most of the scout program was finished last night. Today the goal is for him to take a bath!!! He only took one all week! We go to the dr. Monday to see if he needs a cast for his arm. I don't know what we're gonna do with that boy!!
Below is a picture of the tower where he fell. You apparently climb on a ladder to get from one level to the next. He fell from the 4th level (I think) to the 3rd level. It could have been much worse, so we are feeling very thankful.
