"For though I am free from all, I have made myself A servant to all, that I might win more of them." - 1 Cor. 9:19
Come Home.
You would think, with bold, blue letters, I would begin by talking about someone I miss, and want to come home. But that's just the thing. I'm not advocating that you come home to what you might traditionally view as home. I'm suggesting something else entirely.
Moving away for college has made me miss something more than anything else in the world. Some of you may have guesses, but it may not be what you think. The thing I've missed most is a sense of belonging. A sense of being needed. A sense of comfortability. A sense of assurance in my surroundings. A sense of home.
I couldn't figure out for the longest time why I didn't like Houston. And I honestly believe that nearly anywhere I would have moved away from home, I wouldn't have liked. There are many reasons for this, but none of them good. Sure, I missed my friends and family. Sure, I missed the leisure time I had. Sure, I missed a lot of things. But I missed home. And me missing home made me realize something. Something I've always known, but never fully (and still not fully) realized in my heart.
As long as I'm on this earth, I will never be home again.
Yeah, you expected some big blog inspiring deep thoughts based on the way I was leading up to something. And you're probably thinking that you've heard this before. But that's just it. It's so much more than hearing it, it's FEELING it. Especially as young people- we think that when we leave mommy and daddy, it will all be better when you get married- you'll be home again. But this ISN'T our home. Married couples need to be one with God before they can truly be one with each other. We as single Christians need to become one with God before we seek to become one with another. Sure, we can always get closer to God, but you need that foundation, that close, personal relationship with our Father.
But what do we do to become one with God, and to get to that home?
I could talk about so many things, but it's all summed up in one word. -----> LOVE.
See what love has done for us--> Jesus was sent to live a perfect life, and then be murdered by those He came to save. God, time and time again, allows us the chance for repentance, seeing only Christ's blood. And in order to become one with God, we must do the same for others.
"For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them."
Serve other Christians by encouraging them, uplifting them, checking up on them, giving of yourself to them.
Serve other people in the world by showing them where we can get joy, where true salvation comes from, where they can have a sense of home.
And Christ will take you home.
As is normal, I just rambled a WHOLE bunch. Hope I helped.
Serveit.
