finally, huh?
so school's goin well, approaching the end of my 2nd to last semester to high school, finally. having off-campus the last period of the day is totally awesome, i've been playin basketball with some friends pretty much every day.
i've applied to Texas A&M (whoop!) and am awaiting my letter of acceptance. they have to take me whether they want me or not due to the state's top 10% rule. i'm not, however, automatically accepted to the college of engineering, but i'm optimistic about it.
i entered this contest called art contest called Cultureshapers through my school. it's a Houston-area only contest, and in the photography category, there were 231 entries. the judges apparently liked my shot and presented me with 4th place and $1000. Here's a link to the top 15 photographs in the contest. my photo is below.
Recently, me and my brother in law, her husband, have been recording some songs. Just some covers right now, mostly the Shins and Iron & Wine right now, original material is to come later. I'll try to upload some songs somewhere and link to them from here soon.
as of yesterday, i am employed. i'm an intern at EDG, where a whole bunch of people from alief coc work too. yes, i'm at work writing this. i finished my task quicker than my supervisor expected, so he told me to just hang out until he has something to do. so i'm actually doing my job right now. so far it's been pretty nice.
also today, weezer released their red album, which i am listening to at the moment. in my opinion, it's a good album. it's different from their previous stuff, but that's not a bad thing.
Hey Ross, thanks for being nice to my sister when she was at Alief. I think she's going to try to go to DCC next year. How's the internship going? And is your brother preaching in Gladewater now?
Congrats on the photo, Ross!!!!!! Mom and I were talking about it after bridals and she said she thought you'd do really well in the competition... and you DID!
alright, new entry
monday, me and my rockin band got to go to a real studio, which a friend of ours' dad owns, for free. we recorded 4 songs that turned out awesome.
spring break has been fun so far. studio, my awesome sister and nephew have been here since sunday, and i'm goin to nacogdoches thursday and friday to see my brother and his wife.
if you have the money grab it!!!!! that's some really good stuff!!! the stick is basically what you have and the helment is a good brand! and those are the exact same gloves that i have and if you don't end up playing you can always sell the stuff for that or more!!!!! but it all depends upon if you have the cash!!!
so yeah, things are goin good. school is going well. marching band is almost done, so i'll be tryin to get a job soon
oh yeah, that picture is a vector image (bigger version here), which means it's made up of shapes instead of pixels, that i made from a photo. this was done in my AP 2d design class over about a month. i think i ended up with about 800 shapes total.
