since I started following the Sox in 1953, (I really don't remember much about those early years except that my father usually ended the season extremely disappointed. when I was young i remember that my father started each red Sox season filled with optimism, much like dave Dugas - We'll beat them Yankees this year and ended the summer with We'll get them next year) I have picked up several teams that I follow more or less enthusiastically through the season, the Sox, the Pats, the Celts
and several Uconn teams ( Mens and womens basketball ,football)
before 1995 I had a combined total of 173 seasons rooring for these teams, watching them win a total of 13 championships - all by the Celts, the other five teams in 139 seasons won a total of 0 championships . Since that year the teams have won 12 championships all of them except the Celts and Uconn football have one at least 2. however both of those teams are coming up fast the Celts did a major overhaul this summer and look like they might at least win more than they lose this year. Uconn football has broken into the polls for the first time and is currently #13 in the BCS ratings
Actually, nobody won any championships until my first year at FC when UCONN won the NCAA basketball title, then everybody else started winning. So it is probably more associated with MY departure; as much as I would like to pin it on you. :D
Maybe it was Peter's emergence into the world that did it instead of localized vaccuum left by one individual or another. Just a thought. One thing I'm sure about is that the students and professionals who won those titles had NOTHING to do with it.
under extreme duress i've caved in and left my older daughter as the only family member not on pleonast, maybe her husband can cover for her. Please comment only if you can identify the source of my screen name and the colonel pictured on my blog
I've had extensive experience as a lurker both on pleonast and on usenet(beginning in the eighties, monitoring several groups particulsrly rec.gardens and misc.kids). Never before have I lowered myself to the point where i actually made a post. Finally as senility or maybe alzeimers begins to set in , I've lost control and allowed myself to be coerced into doing something I've always had sense enough to avoid... well, "hello everyone!!"
Great to see you on here..how are you feeling..Melissa is still having pain and they can't seem to figure out where it is coming from..Say hello to mountaingirl for me..Miss ;you all...Love ya..
I think it's funny that you compared the Muslims to Huns and Mongols because alot of them were just that. The Turks were a Ural-Altaic tribe and pretty much were Huns and Mongols.
