I wanted you all to have information about a virus that is being spread via email. Being that I work for a shipping business and handle both UPS(United Parcel Service) and USPS(United States Postal Service) packaging daily, I thought you all might to have a little insider information. There are two emails with dangerous computer viruses attached to them. Without a virus detector/blocker on your computer, these may look like legitimate emails. Trust me, they are not. I'll explain why as I go through the details of each.
The first comes From: postmaster@ups.com and the Subject line reads Undeliverable: Re: {Filename?} Your Tracking # followed by a 12 digit number. The first clue that this is a hoax is the From address. The postmaster has nothing to do with UPS and is strictly related to the United States Postal Service. The second dead give away is the actual tracking number. UPS tracking numbers include both numbers and letters. The third point is the fact that neither UPS or the Postmaster would reference an undeliverable package via email and would rather send a letter or invoice stating the packages whereabouts and delivery information.
The second email comes From: United Postal Service and the Subject line reads {Filename?} Your Tracking # followed by a 12 digit number. The dead give away on this one is the name in the From address. UPS is not United Postal but rather United Parcel Service. And again the tracking number only contains numbers rather than a combination of numbers and letters.
These emails contain information about a package that was sent on a specific date, and claim that it was unable to be delivered because the recipient's address was incorrect. The message then instructs you to print the invoice copy that is attached to the email in order to collect it at the local office. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENTS. These contain the virus. The email then makes a threat saying you will be charged an unreasonable amount of money per day for not retrieving the package. Guess what, the package doesn't even exist!! And please do not be mislead by this charge idea either. Neither UPS nor the USPS will charge you a fee for not picking up a package within a certain amount of time. This is just a scare tactic that is being used to try to encourage you to open the attachment. Don't be fooled, it's all a scam.
While we have yet to be informed of what exactly results from this virus, I doubt any of you are willing to find out. If you'd like, you can forward this information to your family and friends as well. The more people that know about it, the safer this type of communication remains. It's so sad that there are culprits out there trying to ruin it for all of us whose lives are made easier and better through email.
Hope everyone is well, and had a great week! Well wishes for a wonderful weekend!
1. I used to be a cat person, but am currently and for the first time in my life...catless! I've decided that dogs are much more worth my while!!
2. I lived in the same house from the time my parents brought me home from the adoption agency until after I turned 18. Since I turned 18, I've moved ***12*** times and it goes something like this...Hurst(aka home/where I grew up) to Golden (where my heart is and my "true" home!!), to Hurst, to Golden, to Hurst, to Bedford, to Irving, to Euless, to Bedford, to Rantoul (Illinois), to the other side of Rantoul, to Hurst (back to Texas), and finally to Lewisville! Wish I could say I was done but have a feeling there's another move in my future...just hope it's not too soon!!
3. Some of you may already know this, but it's a pretty important random fact about me!! I own every season of Friends on DVD and am a huge fan of the show. Don't believe me...I also own the trivia game...let's play and find out just who the bigger fan is!!
4. I'm addicted to Tombstone Pizzas. No other frozen or delivery brand will do.
5. I used to hate antiques because my parents collected them while I was growning up, and on every vacation they would stop at stores along the route to wherever it was that we were going, often spending hours going through aisle after aisle. It was so boring. Now I own a few unique pieces myself, and love going to antique shops and malls and spending hours going through the aisles!!
6. I have a horrible habit (or maybe it's not so horrible!!) of making a purchase, then before I can even get to my car, I turn around and go back into the store and return the item(s).
7. I'm a game fanatic. Especially trivia games. I own 2 Scene-It games (the original and the TV edition), 2 Trivial Pursuit games (the 90's edition and the Pop Culture), and as I mentioned before the Friends Trivia Game. I own a slew of other games and am always adding to my collection.
8. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm pretty amazing in the kitchen!! I own more cook books than I do clothing. My biggest claim to fame is my cakes!! I'm known among friends as the "Cake Connoisseur" and am blessed by God with the talent for creating new recipes! Some of my favorites are my Peanut Butter Surprise, "Butterfinger" Baby, Strawberry Dreams, "Andes" Mountain, and Kiss Me Twice recipes. If you're in the market, I can guarantee they're better than any store bought!!
Well, all appears to have gone fine so far. He was a little nauseous coming out of the anesthesia, but we're now thinking it was related to his blood sugar being elevated and having swallowed too much air during the procedure. The ended up taking out SEVEN teeth in total...oh my brave, brave man!! He's still really swollen and pretty out of it. Praise God he was able to get tomorrow off of work as well. He's on antibiotics, non-narcotic pain meds, and tomorrow will start taking a muscle relaxer. We're told he should be doing well and pretty much back to normal in about two weeks. Until then, it's soft foods and Amanda...the best nurse ever. Prayers of course are still welcome because being that Errin is a diabetic that makes him more susceptible to infection and a slower healing time. I'm not sure how busy I'll be this week with helping Errin and work, but will try to update regularly. Until next time, I hope everyone has a wonderful week! Take care!
Hello, I'm Mark Gray... Errin and I used to worship together in Flower Mound. I saw yer post on his page and I thought, that name is mucho familiar. Anyway... tell him I said hello, and God bless his recovery.
Yet again, I'm reiterating my faith in God to handle everything I lay at His feet.
Errin called me yesterday, nearly in tears from the pain he was experiencing from his wisdom teeth. It's not unusual for them to be sore or cause pain, but never like this before. Every couple of months he'll go through a period of a week or so when he has to "dope up" on Tylenol and IB Profen from the swelling and discomfort. But this was a whole new ball game.
He called his mom, to make an emergency dental appointment, and learned this morning that all four have to be pulled along with two molars on the bottom, on MONDAY.
And so the blessing begin.
Today's dentist visit should have cost somewhere around $200.00, but they only charged us $50.00. Praise the Lord.
The dental surgery is supposed to be about $3200.00. The dentist said he could do it for $2200.00 and then gave an additional 10% discount, making the final bill around $1850.00. Praise the Lord.
Monthly payments/installments are not usually available for this procedure. They're allowing us to post-date checks to pay it off over a period of six months. Praise the Lord.
Without us even asking, my dad has offered to help by giving us $100.00 a month for the six months. Praise the Lord.
Kelly and Dana are still discussing the situation, and will more than likely be helping out too...we're so blessed to have them in our lives. Praise the Lord.
Errin's parents are helping cover the down payment and perhaps assisting with Errin's student loan payments during the six month period. Praise the Lord.
GOD IS SO GOOD. When you put your faith in Him, and walk in His path, He provides in ways that are unforseen by us. I never expected for this trial to come upon us so suddenly, yet somehow it no longer seems like a trial. More of a blessing. Not that my husband being in pain is a blessing, but more that God's love for us is shown in ways we never expected.
I've been trying to maintain a new, more positive mindset, and instead of asking "why me" ask "why not me". Apparently it's working!!
I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! I also pray that everyone's family and friends are safe following Hurricane Gustav.
I had a wonderful weekend in Golden. My brother-in-law(Corey) sent my sister(Ashley) and nephew(Preston River) up from Nacogdoches on Sunday afternoon. He didn't want them to get stuck down there once the rains hit that area and the flooding started. That was fine with me, because Aunt Mana loves her little "P.R."!! I can't believe he's already two months old, and such a little chubby monkey too!! 15lbs already!! He's giggling and cooing...I just live too far away for him to be growing up as quick as he is!!
So I also had some time to think and pray about some things that I've been worrying about and dwelling on for a while now. Thankfully, I've come home a lot more at peace with a few things that have really been weighing on my heart for a long time. Of course, it's still just a work of God in progress, but I'm slowly but surely getting there!! An added bonus is that I've finally went out and bought a mouthgaurd to wear at night. After years of clinching my teeth, I've finally been feeling the effects in soreness and sensitivity. Not to mention the horrible headaches. So I wore it for the first time last night, and while it is really different, it's not that new of a feeling since I had braces and a retainer years ago!! I was afraid I'd end up spitting it out in my sleep, but it was still there in the morning and while the box says it may take up to three weeks to notice a difference, I'm thinking the effects will be more noticeable in that the tightness in my jaw is already feeling a little better!! So for any of you out there who have a problem with teeth grinding or what-have-you...I highly reccomend you go get one!! They're pretty inexpensive, the range from about $18 dollars for the boil and bite style, to around $40 for the no-boil/adjustable kind, which is the one that I got and suggest that the extra money is worth it.
Well, that's about all for now! I've got to get ready for work. Oh, one more side note...I'm the proud owner of all 10 seasons of FRIENDS. It only took me 4 years to get them all!! So, if you're ever in the mood for a marathon let me know, I've got popcorn too!!
