For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
-2 Timothy 1:7-
So. Quick update while I'm waiting for my Typography class to
start. First of all, I got my Mac. :) It's the new one made out
of ALUMINUM. Fancy. ;). Haha. I'm just happy this computer is
much happier with me than my Dell was. It kind of hated my guts.
Anyways.
Twilight comes out in TWO DAYS. I can't wait. Even though I
probably won't be able to see it that day. Probably not til the
weekend. Lame. I may just go by myself on Friday morning or
something. Kindda sad, I know. But aw well. I'm comfortable in my
isolation. :)
I registered for my 3rd quarter! Crazy how when you're living
life, life doesn't seem to pass fast enough. And yet when you
look back on it you're left wondering where all that time went.
That's where I find myself at this current moment in time. But.
Anyways. My schedule is as follows:
First of all, I seriously love this school. Not just because I
get to take really cool classes... but that even the Math class
is called, "Creative Geometry". Ooo la la. I'm rather excited
about next quarter. It sounds like a lot of classes I'll really
like. And that makes me happy. So. Yay school.
THANKSGIVINGGGG!! Ahh. I'm so pumped. I love food. And my family.
I get to see my parents and my sisters and my aunts and my
cousins aaaand I'm just really happy all around. I'm literally
counting down the days in my planner. :)
OH! OH! OH! Last night Michael and Gary studied with 4 people,
and Gary got to baptize two of them! Praise God. :D :D. I am oh
so very proud. :)
I think that's all for now. Sorry for the quick and scattered
update. Remember to love. Miss you guys.
hey, as for your last post, idk if your local library does it, but at my library, people donate their old magazines, and you can have them for a 10 cent donation. i find lots of healthy recipes by buying the health and vegan magazines.
also, if you like salmon and zucchini, i have some great (and cheap!) recipes i can give you.
Anyone who does not love
does not know God,
because God is love.

First of all. My boyfriend is wonderful. We
celebrated 6 months together this weekend. :) Saturday he had
the whole day planned out without me knowing a thing. He brought
me breakfast, took me to the lake, then surprised me with a
picnic when I was down by the water taking photos. Then he took me
to the Dallas Museum of Art to see the King Tut exhibit, and the
rest of it too. :) THEN. He took me out to dinner at Saltgrass
and forced me to get a $20 steak- which was SO GOOD. You just
have no idea. And desert. Which was Pumpkin Cheesecake- he
almost died it was so delicious. I was so full. Then we just
went back to Jake and Mariah's house and watched a movie. :) It
was so wonderfully nice. He also gave me an amazing present. :D.
Yeah. I'd say he's a keeper.
Now that I'm done telling you all how great my boyfriend is, I
need advice on three things! ONE. I need some quick, somewhat
easy, and healthy recipes! My freshman 15 is finally starting
to appear after four months of college. I was doing pretty well
at the beginning, but then I just got so busy I didn't have time
to cook! I know I can look them up online but I just want to see
if anyone has some they already REALLY like. Because that would
be lovely. :)
TWO. I want to buy a Mac. Sooo, I'm starting to save now. I am
THINKING I want an iMac for career purposes. I'm going to be a
graphic designer so I'm going to need a good computer sooner or
later, so, why not sooner? It would be a really good investment
and hey- maybe even start making me money. :) That would be
nice. So. Does anyone that knows about Macs have advice on which
on would be best? An iMac is around $1200- but they also give a
student discount so I'm going to be checking into that tomorrow
to see how much it would be. If I save like crazy I may be able
to have one in about... three months? MAYBE sooner if I really
go crazy but we'll see. :)
THREE. Okay. So my school schedule is always changing. I have
classes at the most random times. I've done the early thing.
I've done the mid-day thing. And I've done the night class
thing. I can't decide which I like more, or which would work
best. I'd like to have an easy schedule for my works to work
with. But. I live far away from the school in Dallas morning
traffic, so I have to wake up at 6am... not so good for
Chelsea. :) Mid-day kind of messes up the working schedule. I
would go from 1-5 everyday. Kind of random. And night classes...
bleh. I am always SO exhausted by the nighttime. So... I don't
know. OR I was thinking I could take classes on only two days a
week but taking one 8-12, then 1-5, then 6-10... and be
completely open the rest of the week. But. Those two days would
be so exhausting. But it may work. I HAVE NO IDEA. Therefore,
expert college students, advice, go!
I think that's it for now. If I need more advice you all know
I'll ask. :) Oh, and, uh, Wreck em Tech.
one: eat fruits. like when youre on the go, eat an apple, peach, whatever.. it a lot better for you than typical college food. fruit plates are good too.. if you have apples, oranges, grapes, stuff like that.
1. I'll email you some good recipies from my weight watchers book. Not that you need that extreme, but they're healthy and yummy. 2. Call David. Refurbed could work and the student discount is pretty good. 3. I always prefered the school all day and other days off. It was a nice balance. I think one semester, I went from 8-8 with a 1 hour lunch break. I was taking 19 hours which nearly killed me, but I got it done. :) Hope that helped! Love you...and I'm super jealous about the King Tut exhibit. How long will it be up???
1. Eat babies. They are lean in fat, high in calcium, and you would rid the world of one more screaming tantrum. If you don't want to eat babies, vote for Obama, and he'll eat them for you. 2. Make sure you talk to Jake before you buy a mac. 3. I already gave you advice on that. Much love, love.
I'd go for the all day thing. Did that a lot in grad school, and it was SO nice to save the traffic fighting time. You get extra just by not having to do that every day. As for recipes, I make a LOT of soup. Don't know if you like that, but I buy bags of frozen soup vegetables, tomatoe sauce, diced tomatoes, throw in an onion and whatever and let it cook. Very easy. I also buy a bunch of hamburger meat and cook it and freeze it in ziplocks so I can just throw some in whatever, whenever :)
Throw some boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a glass baking pan. For sauce, use one jar of Pace Picante sauce coupled with about a cup of brown sugar and a tablespoon or two of brown mustard. Feel free to change proportions. Bake in an oven at some degrees until the chicken is cooked all the way through.
You have to be trying to mess this one up. Seriously. Go for it.
1. I like his suggestion. As we all know, "everyday is a good day with two scoops of babies." 2. I have no idea. 3. As with everyone else, I would rather do the two full days because even those days would be terrible, you would have 5 other days to do whatever you wanted. Plus, like she said, I would try to minimize the traffic I was stuck in. 4. I love you and I want to see you pronto.
I always liked having one day a week of no school...one day with one night class... and then the other 3 days heavy to semi heavy with classes...it gave me opportunity to work...and yet not get so stressed
So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do
also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
-Matthew 7:12-
So you're stuck in traffic. You're already really annoyed
because the person in front of you keeps slamming on their
breaks, and you're in a hurry. You realize you're in an exit
only lane, so you quickly turn on your blinker and sit there for
a good amount of time until someone FINALLY lets you over. So
now you're really trying to hurry, and look over only to see the
exact thing you just went through happening to someone else in
another lane. What do you do?
Most people when in a hurry, only concentrate about being on
time assuming someone else will let them in. But. What if those
20 cars thought the same thing about you? How much time does it
REALLY add?
Alright. I realize some of you may be confused at what on earth
I'm talking about. But this is something that happened to me
today. I was very frustrated, and I was in a hurry. When someone
finally decided to let me over, I was so relived that I pressed
the gas petel down as much as I could. I looked over, and there
was another blinking light. I though for a second, and slowed my
car way down, and let them get in front of me. A really small
detail of life, right?
Wrong.
As Christians, we shouldn't want the glory or want to be paid
back when we do something nice, we should rather they pass along
the random act of kindness to someone else. And for some reason
this popped into my head. Someone had just let me in, so I would
let someone else in. And then guess what? They let someone else
in, too. Something as small as that. Even if your running late-
how do you know the other people aren't? Why be so consumed with
concentrating about YOU when you could help other people out in
the process?
I know this is a really strange analogy. But it just reminded me
how important it is to HELP OTHERS, and truly LOVE others. This
analogy can be applied to every aspect of life. We just need to
stop focusing on US, and more on how we can help OTHERS. Do unto
others as you would want done unto you, just like Jesus tells us.
I love the song, "Make me a Servant". Great words to be thinking about as we go out into the world this week. We usually don't have as much traffic in big 'ol Stephenville, but it applies to many other things. have a great week!
Wow, I can tell we've both driven in Dallas traffic :) All of that has run through my head SO many times and then I just think how grateful I am when somebody lets me in and if I can do that for someone instead of getting angry and pushing ahead then I feel so much better.
you are amazingly wonderful! he said he has had the most wonderful weekend and he felt so good that everyone at church was so excited for him. (since he got baptized on Thursday today was the first service since he was baptized) One of these days you REALLY need to go to Nac with us.
btw i love your message up there. my girls and i have talked for a couple of years about stuff like this. how everything you do affects someone. you can either choose to have a positive effect or a negative one. one kind act will cause another kind act and on and on it goes. love you and miss you.
Such a lesson that we all need to learn. I think I'm okay at that when it comes to traffic, but in so many other areas of my life, I personally REALLY need to learn this. Of course, praying God to help you with this is the most beneficial thing you can do, because God works in us. And I am confident He is working in you. :)
