Yay!!! I have been wanting to call you about that! We are so anxious to have you around here again! Let us know what we can do to help you! Love you. Did I say we are excited about you being here? ;)
So, it may sound funny, but I find out later this week if I am going to get permission to shoot at my main location for my movie I am currently working on. The owner is considering it as I type this. So if you wouldn't mind, keep it in your prayers? I know there are more important things going on in the world, but it would mean a lot to me.
I will update on the fundraising soon. Thanks for all your continued support!
Anyone out there in pleo land who could hook me up with Reba Cook's contact info? You can email it to me at sean_patrick_malone@yahoo.com or leave a private comment!
Some of you may know from my previous posts that I am in my final year of film school. In my final year, almost all my time is devoted to making my thesis film. Those of you who know me well won't be surprised to know that I am making a Western!
So immediately I am faced with a huge challenge: how to make a period Western with relatively little money. Originally my fund-raising strategy was to approach mostly wealthy individuals and companies for a total fund-raising goal of $20,000. Then our economy tanked. Not just any tank either. "The worst financial crisis since the Great Depression."
FANTASTIC.
So here is my idea. To approach as many people as possible and ask them to make a small donation. If you are a close friend and you are rolling in it, $10 would be awesome. If you are a close friend and you are not rolling in it, a dollar would be awesome. If you don't know me and don't mind saying goodbye to one Mr. Washington, a dollar... would... be.... AWESOME!
ASKING FOR MONEY ON THE INTERNET IS SOOOO LAAAAAME. I know that. You think I don't know that? I don't like doing it! You think I LIKE doing it?????
But guys I want to share with you the vision I have. I see a movie good enough to compete for a student academy award. I see a movie with an epic score by my good friend Benjamin Payne. I see a movie with STUNNING landscapes and BREATHTAKING images, a visual tribute to the place I grew up (one of the most beautiful places on earth) the Arizona desert. I see a movie suitable for a family to watch together, full of substance and character.
So seriously guys, I beg you. I implore you. Tell everyone you know that I need a dollar!
Check out the online profile. You can donate from there:

Here's a quotation from Jeff Beal to inspire you: "I’ve been thinking about, like most people, what’s been going on in the world lately with this crazy financial meltdown, and also just the way wars are fought. Everything is detached, you know. Crime comes from a guy at the end of a computer, or somebody hidden in an office on Wall Street. Or we fight wars with high-tech devices. And there’s something wonderfully cinematic and direct about the spaciousness of the West, in which confrontations and problems don’t go away – they have to be confronted head on, at the end of a gun barrel or in your town. I think that the simplicity of that is really refreshing."
I would like to pick your brain on how you are going to make wonderful movies that are rated G. I think it would be awsome if a christian could make movies without profanity or nudity or you know what. what is your plan? How exciting!
Hey Sean, I just watched 'No One Doubts the Camera Eye' - fantastic!!! I really enjoyed that :) (And I hadn't realized until the end credits that Andre was John Hightower! Wild.)
So, you making a Western got me thinking about how I really do wish that someone would make a movie based on the Marty Robbins song, "El Paso" - so, you know, if you go on to make other Westerns (not sure if you want to stick to just one genre) you should do that...or not.
