My younger boys got to go fishing with their dad this weekend at their granddaddy's pond and Jonah snagged a big bass! Luckily it was captured on camera:
According to eyewitnesses, the fish weighed in at 5 lbs. and measured 21" in length! Unfortunately it could not be kept for posterity's sake, so at the present time it has been decapitated, filleted and is now in Grandma's freezer until a later date when it will be consumed with a few other similar items. :)
I just had to post this, he was so proud of that! Plus, I couldn't resist giving it that title.
Roll Tide! Bama remains undefeated after their win over Kentucky yesterday 17-14 (just in case anyone missed that bit of news...)
Are you in earnest? Seize this very minute!
What you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius,
power, and magic in it.
Only engage, and then the mind grows heated.
Begin, and then the work will be completed.
I am more than ready for a break, it feels like we've been in school for half my life already this year.
Not that it hasn't had its enjoyable moments, but...the break is just really appealing to me right now. Lots of things going on mentally and psychologically, and I need to get away to clear my head. I also need some big 'good times' with my kids. I wish they could ALL be home during the break, but that's not to be. For that reason, Thanksgiving is my next big focal point!! :)
I watched part of the VP debate last night and I am not any closer to a decision than I have been the last few weeks.
Alabama plays Kentucky tomorrow, that should be a good game, and of course I'll be cheering on my Tide...but probably in front of the TV, not the computer. But I'm excited about the webcast, anyway!

I took last period off yesterday and left early for Fiddler's. It's amazing what that little bit of time away did for my overall sense of well-being! I'm really looking forward to the break as well!
Due to unforeseen problems with my computer a couple of days ago, I was unable to do my 'traditional' birthday post to one of my kids...things are finally 'fixed' and so here goes:
Jonah turned 12 on Friday, September 26! Hard to believe this is his last year before hitting the wonderful teenage years!
He has always been a handful:
(he was about 9 mos. here - he weighed 9lbs. 1 oz. at birth)
and as he has grown, he has become more fun and adventurous:
ABS 11-12 yr. old basketball team '08
"In action" at the piano, '07
Looking down at the fans from on high, Bryant-Denny Stadium, A-Day '08
"Holding" a Corvette in his hand, Bowling Green KY, '06
Frisbee with Micah, '08
He is a very talented young man, and full of life! He is also a 'sponge' when it comes to information - he's always wanted to know how things work, "why" about everything, and he doesn't usually wait around for an answer - he wants to experience it first hand. (That can be good in some ways, bad in others!)
He has been fun to have around, and we all love him so much!!
He didn't quite get the birthday he wanted this year, but we did go to (the new) Village Pizza on Friday night (it's good, if you haven't been there yet)! I hope to get a cake made before tomorrow night, and surprise him (he never gets on Pleonast, so hopefully he won't read this and hopefully nobody will spill the beans!).
In other news, Alabama rolled over Georgia last night!! We remain undefeated! Victory is indeed sweet. :)
I read this (again, after many previous times) this week, and liked this version (ERV): "Always be filled with joy in the Lord. I will say it again. Be filled with joy.
Let everyone see that you are gentle and kind. The Lord is coming soon. Don't worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks for what you have. And because you belong to Jesus Christ, God's peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human minds." ~Phil. 4:4-7
This is a great thing to consider when we begin to worry or become anxious about life's uncertainties - and then we can realize they are only uncertainties to us.
no problem! i really enjoy coupon-ing and usually i have the time. if you want me to look out for any brands or not to look out for certain brands let me know :) we're pretty 'set' on what we use on a weekly basis, but if I'm going to pay anywhere from nothing to 50 cents for something I'll buy it just to buy it.
The Bama game was pretty fun to watch, huh? Actually, I was running around doing "kid stuff" and listening to my dad and Aaron's accounts of the game. I watched literally the last minute and a half which was nothing since they were just running down the clock. :)
They said it was a 'trial run' at Kmart, they just picked a few to participate in the deal and see how it went. They took up to and including 2.00 coupons! I got so much stuff that weekend for nothing. I didn't know about Kroger always accepting double coupons until Nikki told me the other day. Even though it's only up to 50 cents, most of my food coupons aren't more than that anyway! I'm excited to try that soon.
Happy Belated Birthday, Jonah!! When were on one of the MANY buses to go places in the campground, I thought of what day it was, & I said, "Hey! Today is Jonah's B-day" I should have called him. If we go again to Fort Wilderness I wouild love it if you guys could come- it was so FUN & the kids would LOVE it. You don't even need to go to Disney World. There's loads to do right there.
BREAKING NEWS...
AP-Tuscaloosa
Authorities arrested Alabama head coach Nick Saban in the predawn hours Monday at his home in Tuscaloosa on animal cruelty charges. Saban, 56, was charged with 85 counts of animal cruelty in an alleged attack which occurred Saturday night in Athens , Georgia . Police said that as many as 92,138 witnesses saw Saban and a large group of violent young men under his control hit, kick, crush and destroy a large pack of mostly-docile bulldogs. One officer was quoted as saying, "I haven't seen bulldogs treated this badly since the Michael Vick case."
Hey there! I hope we can get together at some point too. But, I keep thinking, people always say that and then they never do, haha. Life just keeps happening so fast!
My new Chocolate Mint Truffle creamer is delicious
There's apple strudel in the oven
I have successfully served supper and lunch to my kids 3 times in a row and we were all sitting at the same table together while eating it (that can be a challenge around here a lot of times)
Fall is the best season
Alabama football is awesome
My dog is weird
I have my porch decorated for fall...sorta
On the brink of flea-fogging the upstairs bedrooms (yuk)
I'm still trying to figure out house repairs/selling/buying and have found a smaller house that is adorable that I could afford IF I could sell mine, IF it was 'fixed' (*sigh*). I'm just trying not to think about it too much
Getting my kids caught up on homework/assignments before the progress reports come out is a relief (though it's annoying that it has to be done, period)
Gas is still $3.54 at Murphy but the lines are endless, probably 24/7
I avoided the Trail of Tears riders on Saturday by going to Decatur before they came through and got home after they had been here (and if I can't get out from my subdivision before they are done, it's too bad - Hwy. 72 blocks me in)
I found 4 cute bags at a yard sale the other day and only paid $1.00 per purse (I know, I'm cheap) and they all look like new
We have a great preacher who never ceases to make me dig deeper/think harder

#3 is mostly the texture. Kind of like fingernails on a chalkboard. And #6 is in the deep end. I always hated going under when i was a kid. Afraid of drowning I guess.
