so it's high time for a new entry, hard to believe that it's almost been a month since the last post. school's started. i love love love my new job....so far. i'm the gifted teacher at two schools up here in florence.
it's been a busy and exhausting week already. i had parent meetings with all the new gifted kids' parents monday at one school and today at the other. it went well and i'm so glad that it's over.
i'm still loving my new apartment. i've been on big grilling kick here lately. i've gotten pretty good at if i do say so myself.
i have a great roomate!!!!!
i'm ready for a weekend off at the golf course...i've worked out there every saturday this month and next weekend off will be nice.
i'm loving watching the olympics!! michael phelps...AMAZING...one of my friends from high school, Trey Hardee, is fixing to compete in the decathlon over there. It's hard to believe that a guy that I grew up with and had classes with is over there competing.
i'm ready for labor day weekend. no big plans yet. i'm thinking going to birmingham sounds good. what are you guys doing?
i'm also ready for pay day next week...boo for teachers getting paid once a month...i'm definitely due for a shopping trip.

So my summer is quickly coming to an end and I absolutely cannot believe it! I start back to work a week from today and I don’t even want to think about it.
This past week I was able to be a counselor at FC AL Junior Camp. It was a blast! I wasn’t sure how it was going to work out but I absolutely loved it. I worked with some amazing counselors and learned so much from them. When I left for camp I really thought I would be the one with the opportunity to make an impact on the kids but little did I know they would be the ones making the impact on me.

In other news, I’m babysitting my favorite kids in the world tonight and it’s been a while since I’ve seen them. Needless to say I am a little excited. Mom and dad are talking about the three of us taking a quick trip to the mountains before I head back to work. I’m all for it!

~two weekends ago some of my best friends from college came into town for a wedding. we had a great time catching up!! ashley came in from nashville and em drove in from huntsville. we're all growing up. we didn't do too much but we had a great time! the reception was at an old house in Tuscumbia and it was absolutely beautiful. while we were there we saw several other old friends. after the wedding was over we went up the marriott and listened to live music by the pool. it's one of my most favorite things to do in florence and i don't get to do it nearly enough.
~we had vbs this past week at college view. i helped teach the middle school girl's class. it was great to get to know those girls better and talk about things they might be dealing with. during that week one of my best friends showed up from tuscaloosa to visit. she and i were roomates in college and we had so much fun just getting to catch up! oh and then weds. night caty harris and i got to go to dinner!!! she's back in the states and it was so wonderful to see her. i can't wait for her to come back to florence in august so that we can catch up some more. it's so weird how you can have friends that you haven't talked to in months and when you see each other or call each other it's like you pick up right where you left off.
~THURSDAY NIGHT I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!!!!!!!!! i actually found out last week that i was being put up for a job but i wanted to wait until our board approved it before saying anything. i'm so excited! i'm going to be teaching the gifted students in three schools in Lauderdale County. One of those schools is Rogers (the school i've been working at for the past 2 years). I absolutely cannot wait to see what kind of experience this will be. i'm sure that it will be a lot of work but i'm excited about it!
~saturday after working at the golf course, i headed down to birmingham to pick mom up and then we were on our way to the beach. we're planning on staying til weds. so far it's been a great trip. it's been overcast and rainy on and off today but the temperatures aren't too bad so we're grateful for that. since we're down here, i've been using "dial-up" internet and it's AWFUL!!!!!!!!!! i guess i've gotten spoiled using wireless.
~i really thought that i was going to have more free time than i have had this summer but i'm not complaining. things are going so well and i have no complaints. the month of july is looking pretty busy too! i'm moving into my new apartment either at the middle or end of the month. i've lived in "j180" for 4 years and it's going to definitely be different not living there anymore. but change is definitely a good thing. then on the 19th CAMP WILL BE HERE! i cannot wait to be a camp counselor!! it's been years since i've been down there and i can't wait to see how the week goes!! then, on the 29th my roomate of 5 years and one of my best friends, Katie, is getting married at the beach!i'm sure that it will be like no other wedding i've been to.
~the summer ends and work begins on august 4th. it'll be here before i know it!

this summer has been wonderful so far!
last week we had our lectures at College View and they were great. i had never heard Russ Bowman speak before and i really enjoyed that! it really seemed like there was a topic for everyone last week and i am really glad that i had the opportunity to go.
i worked at the golf course friday and saturday and took off for a quick trip to birmingham after i got off saturday afternoon. we had a great father's day. lunch was amazing!!! wish i could have stayed longer but i had to be at the golf course again monday morning bright and early.
last night i went helped with a birthday for a little girl from church. we all went to stay at the marriott here in florence. i had stayed there one time before and i absolutely love it. it has a wondeful pool with a slide and a waterfall. wow! that sentence makes me sound like a little kid! but anyways, it was lots of fun. i thought that i would be up till the wee hours off the morning with all the little girls but we were all so tired from swimming that we all crashed around midnight!
it's hot hot hot outside but i'm really enjoying my summer. hope you all are too!
